  1. You better make every single person with a different want/desire happy!!!!
  2. The CPU upgrade was def the right way to go - https://plexapp.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/200250377-Transcoding-Media With being on version 5.0.5 and it being a 32-bit OS, it can only allocate up to 4GB of your 16GB of RAM. Moving over to 6beta3 will allow all of that be allocated. You can't use the default plex installer, but here is one that has been made for 64 bit - https://forums.plex.tv/index.php/topic/96024-plex-media-server-for-unraid-60-x86-64/#entry561614 . There are directions somewhere on how to build your own 64bit build with the newer plexpass releases. I have about the same setup (if not a bit slower) and I've had 7 sessions going, with 5 of the being remote and most of those needing transcoding. I have sabnzbd pause as it unpacks/moves my new downloads. Is plex running on a cache drive or running on the array? Have you tried using the "new" encoder in plex?
  3. Ya.. both were on my Main array. No worries on the sig. Had to click a link... who wants to do that
  4. I would rather have 2 hard drives fail than be struck by lighting twice.... 9 drives/Xeon on a 850W PSU. More info on setup in sig. Also on a UPS to fight brownouts. Memtest may not be a bad idea.. but its ECC as well. I'll run a few passes tonight, thanks for the idea.
  5. Ya. That's what the check told me to run and I'm back up and going. I'm just concerned that 2 different drives had corruption within 4 days of each other
  6. What are your arguments against running V6? You can boot without Xen and there are 64 bit plugins of most of the apps that are used.
  7. I've been doing some research, wouldn't the CRC errors being much higher if it was a cable issue? They are in hot-swaps trays and everything is secure. I'm going to run the parity-check a couple of times to give my machine a little bit of stress test and read all of the data a couple of times.

There has been a push to use nicinabox's Boiler - http://getboiler.com/ he has some guides for this much more manageable system
  9. completely agree, baby steps first I would probably agree on the sizing.... but love the direction you are heading.
  10. Have fun - http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php/Shrink_array Glad you got your data off.
  11. I pulled the first drive and recovered from backup on a different unRAID box. I can pull that SMART report when when I get home. http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=dyUk919T - Here is the other one. I ran an extended test the Dynamix Health page last night, that passed as well.
  12. I've had two drives that have been set to read only by unRAID in the past 4 days. Both of them after running reiserfsck -check have advised to do a rebuild-tree. Both of the drives are some of my older 2TB drives. Is this just an odd occurrence or is there some underlying problem that is making this happen? EDIT: forgot the "w" in two.
  13. Hey All, I'm running this script to back up my appdata folder on my cache drive to my array weekly. I run vnstats each minute from cron to get bandwidth info. Is there anyway to pause cron so that my database doesn't get corrupted during the backup? Backup Script - https://raw.github.com/smdion/shellscripts/master/appdatabackup.sh
  14. I'd be down for testing as well. 6b3 box and a 5.0.5 box
  15. Now you've done it Looks like there is a sticky up top - http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=19235.0 EDIT: That edit was from 2012.. don't mind me.
  16. That is beautiful.......... subscribed to this thread. Nice work!
  17. Looks like a great build. Thanks for posting your /boot/config/go as well. Great way of checking to see if the array is up and SSH keys, I'll be borrowing both of those
  18. I'm guessing its the port issue being discusses here starting around post 2483 - http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=21260.2475 Basically the plg is putting the port and directory info in the wrong area in the config file.
  19. Short/Long pass fine. In that case, if you are planning to add that drive back to the array in another slot, you should probably run a preclear pass on it, so the array won't be down for so long while the drive is cleared. Preclear will irretrievably erase the drive. I'm not sure what you meant by so I'm assuming since you rebuilt that drive slot, you want to add the drive to the array as a blank drive to increase your free space. I've read a few posts in here where the output from reiserfsck was a certain way where they recommended RMA'ing the drive and not putting back into service. Just wanted to make sure this wasn't that case. I've now made a new config and I'm backing up from my other unRAID box. Once that completes I will pre clear the drive and put it back into service. I appreciate your support and sharing knowledge with me.
  20. Short/Long pass fine. Thanks for that info. That makes a lot more sense!
  21. Thats why I have a 2nd box with backup So Parity would take the filesystem error? I assume it would try to make parity for that file and wouldn't be able to. So it would have corrupted files for the files that were on those bad nodes and it would restore the corrupted files, but not the bad node as that is "below" the file. As it is backing up the files and not the file system. If I'm wrong please correct me My question remains what is the best thing I can to do get back that disk working or should I RMA it? If the parity does not work, I will pull from my backup array. Thanks!

  23. Thanks! May have borrowed my layout picture idea from you. I liked yours as well. WAP is a ASUS RT-AC66R put into AP mode. I'll update my drawing. Pastebin of Reverse Proxy setup - http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=htNd8rA9
  24. Interesting... I like that it has the download option. Doesn't seem like it can transcode which may be an issue.
  25. I don't want to go thru the hassle of moving all the databases and mounting the shares. Mostly laziness I guess I'll probably move them in a while. I haven't had a successful move that keeps all of my settings and I'm tired re-setting it all backup. Windows Box with RAID5 to Drobo/Mac-Mini to Drobo/RaspPi to Synology to unRAID.
