I formatted a new drive and it used up 18GB immediately. I guess the xfs overhead has changed. So this topic can be closed.

Hi, can anyone explain to me why on my single 3TB drive 80GB are used when all the files on the drive only add up to around 24GB. I understand that there is xfs overhead and I read somewhere it is ~7GB for each TB. That leaves me with an unexplained 34GB. Or is it more than 7GB?

Short update. It was running fine after a restart and then I installed a new Docker container and since now it is spiking again despite all containers being disabled. It feels like something is triggering the system in intervals in the background.

Hi guys, I am trying to figure out how to properly use the iGPU on my Intel G5400T with Quick Sync in Handbrake. In my attached two screenshot where you can see that during a handbrake transcode my CPU is ~99% utilized and the iGPU sits around 1.5-3W. I confirmed with intel_gpu_top that the iGPU is being utilized (around 30-50%) at least. But it looks like mostly the CPU is used. I am new to Handbrake in general so this might be expected behaviour? I would prefer if only the iGPU was used. Power consumption rises a lot during transcoding and I would like to make it more efficient if possible. Can anyone point me in the right direction on what to look for? Thank you

I am not sure what you mean by power socket. I am using an ELV Energy Master Basic 2 device directly plugged into the wall. I haven't tried a different outlet so far. Now that I am not on the WebUI the powerdraw is lower. 12.1W to 12.5W but much higher spikes to 16-17W every 60 seconds or so. Disks are still spun down. I will try to SSH into the server later and give an update on what process is causing spikes if I can identify any. It updates pretty fast so I might record it to find the correlation.

I will try that. Can I transfer my license from one USB stick to another (I am running Unraid Unleashed) and apparently my USB stick turned out to be a counterfeit. I restarted my server. So my logs are gone apparently. Is there a way to see when a plugin was updated? I think the Community applications were updated yesterday but I can't say for sure.

Hey @ich777 I have Jellyfin and Minecraft itzg docker containers but I disabled them. Same with Wireguard. Advanced view was turned off. Does that matter if the container is deactivatd? I am new to Unraid and have this server running for only 2 weeks so far and the increase started yesterday. I used Powertop to make everything as power efficient as possible and it worked quite well. I can't really explain the sudden spike even if it is minimal. It is ~2W not 0,1W. Before it was 12.3-12.6W so 0,3W variance. Now it is 12.6W but mostly 13 or 14.1W. I know these devices are not accurate but it was very consistent for two weeks and now it is not anymore all of a sudden.

Hello guys. I am measuring the power consumption of my server directly on the wall. It usually idled between 12.3 and 12.6W very consistently. Since yesterday however it increased to 12.7W minimum and sparks to 14W every few seconds, sometimes even above that. I have no docker containers running, disks are spun down. I had Wireguard activated but disabling it didn't help either. Inbound and outbound network activity is below 20 Kbit/s. I see the CPU spike from 3 to 14% in the dashboard. It seems a little jittery there but it doesn't tell me much. I have no new services installed that would explain the power consumption increase. Do you have any ideas where I could look to find an explanation?

Hi guys, I am very new to Unraid and running 7.0.0-beta4 and in my Sys Log I found this entry: exit status 1 from user root /usr/local/emhttp/plugins/dynamix/scripts/zfs_scrub start disk1 &> /dev/null I think I know where it comes from but how can I stop it? I had a test disk in my system with zfs file system which was old and failed after a day. I then shutdown the system, removed the disk and after a restart it said Disk 1 missing. So I went to Tools and did a New Config. The system is running for 7 days and last night at 00:00:01 this entry appeared for the first time. So it tracks with a scheduled scrub every sunday. Is there a way to stop this or do I even need to bother with it? Thanks in advance

Aktuell konnte ich keinen gebrauchten 9100 unter 40 Euro finden. Der 9100F schon eher. Waren 25 Euro. 15 Euro sind kein großer Unterschied aber so bin ich zumindest günstiger weggekommen.

Ja, habe woanders gelesen, dass das Thema HW Transcoding über iGPU überbewertet wäre in dem Forum. Aktuell läuft Plex auch ohne. Falls nicht switche ich auf den 9100. Bekommt man für 30€

Ein kleiner Nachtrag hier. Ich habe mich jetzt für ein Supermicro X11SCA-F mit 9100F + 32GB Samsung ECC RAM entschieden. Ich werde also bei ATX bleiben und mein Power Supply weiter verwenden. Ich bin mal gespannt, wie sich der Idle Verbrauch verhält, sobald die Komponenten hier sind.

Es ist wohl möglich auch ohne ECC zu betreiben. Ich habe mal nachgefragt. Danke für den Hinweis

Wo sehe ich denn deine Signatur?

Nehmen wir das Gehäuse mal aus dem Budget raus und alles wird gebraucht auf ebay gekauft. Wäre dann mehr möglich? Ich dachte mir schon, dass es knapp wird mit dem Budget. Es gibt leider keine kompakten Gehäuse auf dem Markt, die mehr als Mini ITX unterstützen. Da müsste ich mir schon selbst eins designen 😃. Sagen wir mal Budget von 300€ und eventuell ergibt sich was am Black Friday.

Hallo liebes Forum, Ich bin auf der Suche nach energiesparender Hardware und wurde auf das Forum hier verwiesen. Der Hardwaremarkt ist etwas unübersichtlich und ich würde mich über Hilfe freuen. Mein aktuelles System i5 4690 + Dark Rock Pro 4 Kühler Asus Z97K 32GB DDR3 1600 Mhz 2x 3TB WD Red 2x4TB IronWolf NAS HDD +Rescue jeweils im Mirror QNAP 2,5Gbit LAN-Adapter, 1x RJ-45, PCIe 2.0 x1 650 Watt be quiet! Straight Power 11 Modular 80+ Platinum 2x120mm Silent Wings Gehäuse Lüfter Mein aktueller Idle Verbrauch ist mit 64W viel zu hoch und ich würde gerne meine Hardware soweit austauschen, dass der Verbrauch mindestens halbiert wird. Mein Budget ist jedoch begrenzt auf circa 250€, da es sich auch langfristig rechnen soll. Ich möchte auch parallel Platz sparen und auf Mini-ITX umsteigen. Am liebsten auf ein Jonsbo N1. Genutzt wird der Server aktuell als Daten Backup, Plex Server und zum Datenaustausch. Eventuell kommen noch mehr Usecases in der Zukunft hinzu. Da ich Plex nutze wäre natürlich Hardware Transcoding über die iGPU interessant. Dass die CPU 4K HDR HW Transcoding schafft wäre also wichtig. Da das Corsair RM550x nicht mehr verkauft wird stellt sich die Frage nach Alternativen. PicoPSU wirkt etwas umständlich und würde ich gerne vermeiden, außer jemand kann mir hier sagen, was genau ich kaufen muss (im Jonsbo N1 wären 2 Molex für die Backplane nötig). Wenn mein aktuelles Be Quiet Netzteil ausreichend ist (leider kenne ich die Effiezienz im 5-10% Bereich leider nicht) würde ich es nicht ersetzen, aber dann wäre als Option nur noch das Node 304 als kompakte Option übrig. Als Boards habe ich J5040 oder N100 im Blick gehabt, aber da mangelt es an SATA Ports oder die Stromversorgung beim N100DC ist kompliziert und im Falle des J5040 die Transcoding Leistung nicht ausreichend. Daher wäre die Frage, ob auch ein i3 Alder Lake ausreicht um den Stromverbrauch niedrig zu halten? Und die Frage nach ECC stellt sich mir auch. Macht das Sinn für meinen Usecase und dafür dann auf ältere Hardware umsteigen? Ich hoffe meine Novelle hat euch nicht erschlagen und ihr könnt mir eventuell weiterhelfen, da ich den Wald vor lauter Bäumen nicht mehr sehe :D.
