  1. Yes thanks, that worked. Any idea why the system got into that state? Was it something I did? Perhaps aborting the reiserfschk before completion?
  2. Server is running 6.12.6. Two parity disks plus eight data disks, all 16TB. Problem occurred after I cancelled a file system check and restarted the array in normal i.e. not maintenance mode. Each of the data disks now has the above error message and all are listed in the Array Operation area as 'Unmountable disks present' along with a 'format' box. The disks themselves appear to be active and operating 'normally'. At this point the system presents two options - format the disks or start a parity check. This is obviously a very worrying scenario so I would appreciate any guidance about how to recover. Diagnostics are attached, thanks in advance. tower2-diagnostics-20240529-0905.zip
  3. Yes. That was the problem. After stopping the array the replacement disk appeared for assignment in its slot and after restart the data-rebuild began. Simple operator error. Many thanks for your prompt and expert response.
  4. I have been attempting to follow the manual procedure for relacing a disk to increase capacity, as set out here: Replacing a disk to increase capacity The procedure works as expected until the step that reads ‘Assign the (larger) replacement drive to the slot previously used for the drive you are upgrading’. At this point the slot/disk ID indicates the old disk is being emulated and the disk is ‘not installed’, while the replacement disk appears in ‘Unassigned Disk Devices’ with options to clear and pre-clear. I do not see any option to assign the replacement disk to the slot it is physically in. The replacement disk has come from a different Unraid server and was previously in use. It still has the original file system and data files. Both parity disks have been successfully upgraded, but using new disks. I’m wondering whether I’m using the correct procedure for this sort of replacement or whether I’ve missed part of it. Thanks in advance for any guidance.
  5. That was the problem. I was unaware of the existence of the UD Preclear app, it certainly wasn't needed on earlier occasions. But thanks anyway.
  6. Ok screen-shot should be attached, but where do I find the 'Preclear page'?
  7. Trying to pre-clear a brand-new disk and the red X does not appear alongside the serial number. There is a 'format' box. I downloaded the Unassigned Device + addon and enabled destructive mode but that didn't have any effect. Server is running 6.12.6. Thanks in advance for any help

  9. OK thanks for tips. I just want to double-check that using mv will be safe in terms of parity, the reason for asking is that some earlier googling turned up hints that it might not be with /mnt transfers. Regarding rsync, I think I may have missed the trailing slash after the source so my fault
  10. Something appears to have gone wrong in following the process to replace multiple data drives with a single larger drive using the rsync command. Folders and files have been transferred to the the new larger disk but appear in a separate folder and cannot be accessed via Windows or by a media player (Duneplayer). Everything seems to be present but just not in the right place. Specifically, the new disk (disk17) includes a folder called disk18 which contains the transferred files: /mnt/disk17/disk18. Is there a simple and safe way to move the files from this folder into the correct destinations in /mnt/disk17? And any ideas why the transfer didn’t work properly? (I don’t rule out operator error). Thanks in advance.
