  1. OK.....I have read countless threads on this type of setup setup but I can't get mine to work for me. I have an Asus Z790 Prime MOBO with a 12th Gen i9 processor. I recently purchased an AMD 7800 XT GPU. My goal is to use the internal GPU for Plex transcoding and the AMD GPU for gaming. The internal GPU does tremendous with Plex trancoding when I boot the server in UEFI mode. Problem is that the Win 10 VM that I created for gaming fails to pass through the AMD GPU (I am unable to connect using Splashtop). The VM starts but then any action I attempt on the Unraid GUI hangs the system. If I change the mobo settings to boot in "Legacy" mode (i.e. CSM enabled), the server boots in Legacy mode and the AMD GPU passthrough to the VM works great. Problem is I can no longer use the internal GPU for Plex as the "multi-monitor" option goes away? I know there are others out there that have got this to work. I feel like I am close but perhaps have one setting incorrect. Any help is greatly appreciated... tower-diagnostics-20240704-0909.zip

  3. I have been trying to pass through a secondary AMD GPU (7800XT) to a recently created Win 10VM. My primary "GPU" is my intel 12th generation i9. I am trying to use the Win 10 VM for gaming and other various things: A quick summary of my steps so far: The VM boots correctly with VNC only (no pass through) The VM starts properly when passthrough is selected but I do not see any video on my monitor (stays on the Unraid GUI) The VFIO-PCI log shows the binding was successful I have installed the Radeontop plugin Diagnostics are attached.... Thanks in advance for any assistance you can offer....... tower-diagnostics-20240701-1320.zip
  4. Seems to have stopped now....thanks for the help so far
  5. Update.....system seemed to work better throughout the day but still hangs when I select menu items on the Dashboard page. I did have to reinstall the Nvidia Driver plugin as I need it to use Steam Headless (it's a requirement) but my system doesn't seem to like that plugin. I have the latest diagnostics attached which were run in Safe Mode w no plugins as the system kept hanging when I tried to run them in a normal boot with plugins tower-diagnostics-20240610-2021.zip
  6. Thanks.....this helped me diagnose the issue. Turns out the culprit was the Nvidia Driver plugin. It worked fine until I bound the Nvidia GPU/sound to VFIO at boot. When I did that and created a Win VM and tried to pass thru the Nvidia GPU then everything on Unraid froze. Once I removed the VM and the Plugin everything was back to normal. This does make me wonder the proper way to set things up regarding GPUs on my system. Should I tell the Unraid OS to use the built in GPU from the mobo instead of the Nvidia one? While I am learning a lot by tinkering, I am srill a newbie so I am looking for some guidance on this question? Also, I believe I read on another thread that the Nvidia Driver plugin isn't necessary when you are planning on passing through the gpu to a VM? Any truth to that? Ultimately I would like to use the Nvidia GPU as the every day system gpu for when I am tinkering , etc......but would want to use the Nvidia for VMs too. I will be using the Win VM for some gaming.
  7. I've been messing around for the first time with VMs. Last night, my Unraid started freezing when I click on either the Dashboard or VMs options on the menu. When I boot in safe mode without Plugins the freezing does not occur. When I reboot in normal mode and I try to run a plugin (e.g. Fix Common Problems) the system also hangs. Any help in resolving would be appreciated... tower-diagnostics-20240610-0919.zip
  8. There is an option to "clear keys" for secure boot. I'll have to dig in and see if that is how I elimiate it
  9. I've successfully integrated 2 HDD into my array that I previously used in my Synology NAS. The drives were erased using "secure erase" (big mistake) and now every time if reboot my Unraid system I have to enter the secure password for the drives in my BIOS to get the server to boot. I did not "pre-clear" the 2 drives before formatting them in Unraid. If I start over and use pre-clear will that eliminate the problem of requiring the password at reboot?
  10. Thanks again...this did the trick
  11. Trying to format two 16TB hard drives that were used previously used in my Synology NAS. I wiped the drives before removing them from the Synology. These are attached to a newly installed SAS PCIe card. Unraid does recognize the new card in System Devicesa and the drives do show up in Unassigned Devices on the GUI. I am unable to format either drive in XFS format and get an error message of FAILED. Diagnostics are attached. Thanks in advance to anyone who can assist tower-diagnostics-20240509-2108.zip
  12. I purchased a Pro License but am unable to register it. Unraid appears to be asking me to purchase a key? I am prompted to enter my address etc although I already did that when I purchased the key? Maybe my USB has become corrupt? Any help is appreciated
