  1. Hi, This is my current setup : Motherboard: B450 Processor: Ryzen 7 2700x Memory: 32GB RAM Storage: 1 NVMe SSD for cache Array of 6 Seagate Enterprise 12TB HDDs 5 data disks 1 parity disk 4 disks connected to the motherboard's SATA controller 2 disks connected to an additional SATA controller Boot: Standard USB key for UNRAID The server is currently too bulky, mainly due to the wide Thermaltake Mid Tower case, and is too slow from a networking perspective, limited to 1 Gbps port. I have decided to transform the server as follows: - Purchase a Jonsbo NAS N-3 case in ITX format with 8 3.5" HDD Hot plug slots. - Purchase an NAS motherboard based on an N100 processor with 2 NVMe ports, 32 GB DDR4 RAM, 4 internal SATA ports, and 4 2.5 Gbps Ethernet ports. - Purchase an NVMe to 6-port SATA adapter. The plan would be to 1. transfer the boot USB key to the N100 2. Connect the 4 Seagate Enterprise disks currently connected to the B450 motherboard's ports into the N100's ports 3. Connect the remaining 2 disks to the NVMe to SATA adapter. 4. At a later date (+1 month ) upgrade the current legacy licence to Unleashed and add 2 additional Seagate Enterprise 12TB HDDs 1 as a second parity disk and 1 as an additional data disk to increase capacity both connected to the NVMe to SATA adapter. My concern is with the recognition of the disks for the Array. Will it be able to recognize which disk is which and remount the array ? I tend to think so as the disks are shown in the interface with their serial numbers eg. ST12000NM0127_ZJV62BM5 Has anybody attempted something similar or have some thoughts to share ? Edit : Quick precision, I am an IS Architect and the server holds not only my personal data, but also all my work backup, family backup, iso images, and all the content of my lab. I do have backups and original files and medias but it would take MONTHS to reconstitute the serveur thus why I am a bit worried.
