    Thanks @Toastie, that thread helped me get aspm working! Gave up on the m.2 to sata adapter I then tried ordering an Intel Optane DC p4801x m.2 100gb drive to use as a slog but unfortunately even toggling power management =1 on with the intel tool and updating firmware versions it doesn't support aspm So currently the M.2 slot is unpopulated
