  1. Maybe this already exists and I just missed it....... But it seems to me that a fairly obvious function of having a dedicated machine that is purpose built for wrangling drives should have the ability to clone any given drive sector by sector, and then store the disk image in a folder/share on the array, directly write that saved image back to a disk, or even directly copy sector by sector from one drive to another. These drives would obviously be "unassigned devices" and only temporarily connected for the purposes of backup or recovery. So you could take a drive out of another computer, and make a clone of that disk image for backup/disaster recovery purposes. The immediate use case for me would be: Storing base images of: my work laptops OS drive. my gaming pc's OS drive my sons laptop OS drive my sons gaming PC OS drive my wife work PC OS drive etc etc
