Access PiHole IP when connected via tailscale
Hi, I'm connected via tailscale VPN remotely to my home network . I'm not sure if this ever worked but I have a Pihole IP on a bridge network IP 192.168.1.213. From home, I can ping and connect to it fine. But when I'm remote and connected via tailscale, I cannot ping it or access it. I use my Unraid as a exit node. I've tried with and without use tailscale subnet. Should I be able to access my PiHole bridged IP over tailscale? Any tricks? I do see a option in Docker -> Unbound "Use tailscale - it's defaulted off. Does this need to be on? Will that fix it - but will it cause issues using pihole on my home computers (where I don't use tailscale?) Thanks.

Boot from Unraid drives vs USB?
Hi, So wondering why Unraid can't boot from the drives instead of a USB stick? I'm not a programmer so maybe it just won't work, but what I forsee is: Each drive is a boot drive - or at least capable of booting. Any changes are written to each drive. BIOS would be set up to boot from each drive - shouldn't matter what order, but boot from each drive such that if Drive 1 failed, BIOS should boot from drive 2 automatically. Granted there's not a huge disadvantage to using a USB drive (except a few things I've seen where if you want a sort of non official change to be made, you have to do some tinkering since some 'changes' not made to the USB stick will be lost upon reboot). Like for example I wanted to change my prompt to Powerlevel10k - but it's not straightforward on Unraid as it is on any other o/s. Is that on the roadmap? Just curious. Thanks!

Unraid with pihole and tailscale - settings?
I set unraid network settings to be 8.8.8.8 and 4.2.2.2 and still seeing the same symptoms... What I don't get is why unraid starts becoming unresponsive on the LAN IP...?

Unraid with pihole and tailscale - settings?
Hello All. I'm trying to set up pihole and tailscale and get them to play nicely. My Unraid on the lan is 192.168.1.195. My pihole is br:custom 192.168.1.213 . My router is 192.168.1.1 . Ideally I'd like my unraid to use the pihole for DNS - My router is configured to use 192.168.1.213 for DNS So here's where I'm at a loss for settings wise. I have to have something wrong or the wrong combination: Tailscale Outbound Networking: Use Tailscale Subnets & Use Tailscale DNS Settings. Then on the Tailscale Admin: DNS setings: Global NameServers: (Override Local DNS? Use Magic DNS? ) The problem I'm having is with every combination I've tried (I'm hopefully missing one that someone knows and it's sobvious to an expert): DNS won't resolve remotely when connected to tailscale. From a remote machine, Nslookup - <Enter> and searching for DNS doesn't resolve, and shows my name server as 100.100.100.100. When I finally DID get it to resolve - if I recall it waws when I enabled use tailscale subnets and use tailscale DNS Settings (on the Unraid -> Settings -> Tailscale -> Advanced Settings), I 'lost' access to 192.168.1.195 on the LAN - I could then only access my unraid on the LAN if I had tailscale installed and used the 100.x private IP. Any hints MUCH appreciated. Thanks

Unraid boots - but not accessable via web or root (Tailscale issue?)
So now, I reinstalled Tailscale. It comes up and says I need to reauthenticate. I reauthenticate, and close out, and refresh unraid, says I need to reauthenticate. Removed tailscale. Reinstalled tailscale. Same thing. Disabled key expiry, but still it keeps saying I need to reauthetnticate. Attached logs from Unraid / tailscale. Thanks! tailscale.txt

Unraid boots - but not accessable via web or root (Tailscale issue?)
Loaded US drive on alternate PC, removed all folders named Tailscale. Back in business. I am often thou seeing - I want to say "Failed to enumerate USB device" ? Upon boot - after it's run a number of processes but before it's fully loaded. Power cycle generally fixes it? Any ideas?| Thanks!

Unraid boots - but not accessable via web or root (Tailscale issue?)
Hi all - So I'm not sure WHAT I did but I was trying to get tailscale to work, and it went downhill. I finally got it to work, but when I got home (I was at work and VPN'd in), I could no longer access my unraid. Could not ping the LAN IP of the Unraid. After trying a few things, I COULD get in to the tailscale IP of the unraid - 100.x.x.x . I went in to tailscale, and found a setting - something along the lines of "Allow unraid access via tailscale IP" or something - I disabled it figuring it would allow me to have back access to unraid via LAN (192.168;.x.x) - but it didn't. It then disabled my access to unraid via the tailscale IP. I can't ping unraid via LAN or tailscale, but near as I can tell, my DHCP server has handed it an IP, and I am getting the Fix Common Problems e-mail when it ran, so it IS online just not pingable, and cannot access via SSH either. It's in a place where it's headless, and the only real monitor is a tiny screen, so ideally, can I pull the USB drive and (I have acess to a MAC or a PC, but prefer PC) can I access the USB boot device and disable tailscale? Or any other suggestions - maybe some how reset most settings but keep all my shares and dockers intact? Or any other suggestions on what to try? Not sure how else to access it. If it matters - I'm running (I believe) the latest Beta but obviously I'm not sure how to tell you what version since I can't access it :-D Thanks

Cacheshare showing full?
tower-diagnostics-20241007-1036.zipBefore I reboot.. do you see what's taking a literal 45 minute startup time? Any time I reboot, it takes 30-45 minutes for the unraid to come back online. Rebooted yesterday at 2 PM, it was 2:45 before it came back online? Hoping to maybe fix that before I do this reboot again. THanks

- Cacheshare showing full?
Yes.. I even just downgraded to beta 2 and ran a manual move, but nothing's moving.. 65 kb free on the cache drive- Cacheshare showing full?
I tried rm /usr/local/sbin/move ln -s /usr/libexec/unraid/move /usr/local/sbin/move in /boot/config/go and even ran the command manually, but my mover appears broken. My cache drive is 100% full and I cannot write to any shares that are cache -> array ....- Cacheshare showing full?
Ok it looks to me like data IS stuck on the share... Before I delete it, want to get a input so I don't screw anything up. My computers - I see the cacheshare and I had a folder called ROMS. That folder no longer 'exists' as far as my computers see - ie \\IP\CACHESHARE\roms . BUT /mnt/cache/DRIVE/roms - I see the files. DRIVE is my NAS share (cache -> array). I moved the files from \\IP\cacheshare\roms to \\ip\drive\roms. But in /mnt/cache/drive/roms is 650GB. Can I mv these files manually?- Cacheshare showing full?
So.... My shares are all set to cache -> Array. my share 'cacheshare' is a share on the cache drive. If I moved data from /cacheshare to a regular drive, would it move it directly to the array drive or would it go through the cache first? My GUESS is I was moving data from the cache to the cache (which would then be filled up the cache even more), and something got 'stuck'... just not sure how to track down where or what is stuck - if that makes sense?- Cacheshare showing full?
So I was using it as a share but removed the majority of data on it. But cache array is STILL full. 2 TB of data I can't see....- Cacheshare showing full?
Share name is cacheshare but to clarify - it SHOULD be a cache, but now I removed a TON of data from it so it should be nowhere near full.- Cacheshare showing full?
Here's the logs, thankstower-diagnostics-20241004-0956.zip I enabled mover logging, I assume that's included in the diags? I didn't see anything extra added to syslog. Thanks- Cacheshare showing full?
Hi All, 7.0.0 beta 2.. So stupid me, I was using the cacheshare as a share and storing some files I accessed frequently since it's a SSD. It started to get full, so I removed all those files. Not sure how to easily see how much data is ACTUALLY on there now but it's a 2 TB SSD, if I access the share and do a DIR in dos, it shows 2 GB free (should be MUCH MUCH more)... Syslog is full of Oct 4 08:35:30 Tower shfs: assign_disk: /appdata/kodi-headless/userdata/Database/Addons33.db-journal (28) No space left on device Oct 4 08:35:31 Tower shfs: share cache full every other second - same file name. I ran mover a few times since - when I ran it from the web interface, as soon as I clicked Move, and the page refreshed, it went back to not running (ie the icon was available to run again. I tried mover from terminal - it finished in about half a second. I now tried it again, and it appears to be running (web gui says it's running) I haven't seen any entries in the syslog regarding mover. - Update on the DIR command - when I started typing this post, my cacheshare showed 2,675,277,824 bytes free. A few minutes later, 1,886,445,568 free. Any suggestions on what to look for? Thanks.- Where to set NFS permissions?
Set share to private, 192.168.1.0/24(rw,async,no_subtree_check,all_squash,anonuid=99,anongid=100) same error.- Where to set NFS permissions?
Unraid 7.0.0 beta 2. I'm trying to mount a NFS share from a linux machine on my network When I try to mount the share, I get <using sudo mount -t .....> mount.nfs: access denied by server while mounting 192.168.1.195:/share Oct 1 20:41:47 Tower rpc.mountd[7629]: refused mount request from 192.168.1.104 for /share (/): not exported Do I need to configure the allowed IP ranges somewhere? I didn't see anything on a search in the GUI for NFS or anything obvious. Thanks.- Remote Shares - extremely slow?
Hello All, 7.0.0 beta 2. Home network is gigabit. I have a number of computers on my network, so I've set them as remote shares. So say \\COMPUTER1 , \\COMPUTER2, \\COMPUTER3, etc - and if they have a C drive, just a \C share, or \C and \D if they have a C and D. All C drives are SSD's. The Unraid is \\NAS. So computer 1 might be \\NAS\COMPUTER1\C & \\NAS\COMPUTER1\D . I also have a cache share on my cache drive - also a SSD. If I'm on computer 1, and copy a file from \\NAS\COMPUTER2\C , I get 10-15 (MAYBE 20) M/s. If I copy from Computer 2 to the cacheshare, I get 80-90. If I then copy from the cache share to computer 1, I get 80-90. If I map \\COMPUTER2 direct from computer 1 (bypassing the unraid), I get 100-120. Is this expected? Any suggestions? Not sure what other information would help to provide.... All systems are wired / ethernet. Thanks.- Place a folder on Cache drive?
Gotcha. Any suggestions to sync a cache share and an array share? My understanding is cache isn't included in the Parity (am I wrong?) so what I envision is I'd like to create a share on the cache drive, and sync it to a share on the array (spindle) so I'm hoping there's something like rsync that can do a real time sync, so if I write a file to the cache share, or to the spindle share, it syncs? I found LuckyBackup but that appears to be cron based, ie every hour or what not. Thanks- Place a folder on Cache drive?
Dang, was afraid of that, thanks... Any chance of maybe this being implemented in the future? Thanks - Cacheshare showing full?
