How do you replace your old test USB flash drive with a brand new one?
Sorry for my previous reply sounding so frustrated.

Well no where does it say that in the official Unraid docs. It clearly tells you how to replace a USB drive, and that's what I followed. So in order to use this nice new tiny USB drive I got specifically for Unraid I have to wait until my Trial period is over and then purchase a license? Just wow, that reminds me of Microsoft to the T. I'm in my trial period so you would think they would make this easy and less stressful on potential customers.

OK thanks, that's what I just did. I went to a different machine, created the flash drive again using both official methods and still it keeps telling me Key Replacement Failed. So I broke down and contacted them. Thank you! Best Regards, Rod

I've already done all of this a hundred times, its not working whatsoever. I continuously get a error message saying "key replacement failed". It couldn't be any easier to understand the instructions but it does NOT work, period. I also tried the manual method multiple times to no avail as well.

How do you replace your old test USB flash drive with a brand new one?
I have spent an untold amount of time in UnRAID trying to fix things for over three weeks now. Docker never works, and it took almost 12 hours to get a Ubuntu Server VM working, and now after all of that I finally purchased a new Samsung FIT Plus to replace the USB drive that was never meant to be used permanently. I used this Sandisk Extreme just to test Unraid and no matter what guide I use, including the Unraid guides this thing refuses to let me replace the USB drive without trying to force me to purchase a license before my Trial is up. How do I replace the USB flash drive with the proper one I purchased just for this Server? Regards Rod

Adding faster 2.5 GbE NIC
I happen to agree with MAM59. I too have the RTL8111E onboard LAN NIC, but with only one RJ45 port. I tested the onboard NIC for three days before deciding to pull my 2.5GbE NIC from my retired Windows server. All I did was boot into the BIOS, I disabled the onboard NIC, shut down the PC, installed the new NIC into the PCIe X1 that was furthest away from the x16 slot and the CPU for a cleaner signal and booted Unraid back up and it just worked as if nothing had ever happened. My transfers to the Unraid server now stay pegged at 285 MB/s or so. Exactly what I was looking for.

I will think about it so long I can learn a bit more about Unraid. I will send you a private message in the meantime. Lol

OK good news. I got most everything figured out and working. I tried reading all kinds of documents, articles and videos, but what really helped in the end was Grok AI, it actually figured out what I was doing wrong and it helped me fix it all in one go. I hate these AI chatbots because they just don't seem to listen to you very well, but once you figure out how to exactly describe your issue in detail it suddenly dawns on it what is wrong and that is what happened here today. My Plex media server is now running great and I tested it on multiple TV's and devices. The videos on YT are just way too outdated and every one of them have you do it a different way. So fragmented, lol. I will continue to read up on Unraid as I find time and I hope my setup gets better. Im sure I have lots of things set incorrectly on Unraid at the moment and only time will tell if I fix them all. I will leave my last 8TB drive sitting in the Windows server for now just because Im not sure I can trust this Unraid setup and its the ONLY backup I have of all of my data at the moment. Lol Thanks to everyone that helped me and kindly did so without getting to frustrated at me.

Wow thanks, that seems very inefficient, but OK thanks for the heads up. So I guess I better create a share that I can interact with for various other reasons. Thanks again.

Quick question. I just noticed that I cant create or delete folder in the root of the drive from other locations on the network. I can only do that from inside folders already made. Why dont I have access to manage the root of the drive from other machines on the local net? I'm still reading but have not seen anything that mentions that.

Thanks for the information. Yes I have it setup that way, but the first 8TB drive I installed has only 2TB of space left and the second drive I installed only has 2.65 GB used, lol. So the data isn't leveling as I expected. At least the data is already on the UnRAID server though, so that's a relief. Yeah I am making great headway. Already figured out that I had created folders incorrectly so I installed Krusader to fix that and moved a lot of data/folders around the way I want. Every baby step is taking me hours of reading, watching and learning. EDIT: I just read the split-level topic in the shares section of the documents and I believe it may be working correctly as-is, so no worries about that. I will be watching to see how it works over time.

High Water I think is the one I will prefer. I want the data to be level on every data drive at all times. Is that High Water mode? Your previous reply above seems to suggest that I have to wait for the first drive to fill up even more before leveling will occur? I am still ready unraid documents and haven't gotten to that section yet, lol. Right now my only concern is figuring out Plex Media Server, because I cant add the last data drive until I can shut down the Windows Server, and I cant shut down the windows server until AFTER I migrate my Plex data. I am currently trying to research that process.

OK, the Parity check has finished 0 errors and it took 13 hours. One thing I noticed is that the high water leveling never kicked in. The first 8TB data drive I installed is still full and the second 8TB drive never took any data and is still empty. Now I have to figure out Docker and Plex and how to migrate all of the Plex metadata data. I dont want Plex starting from scratch. So the Windows Server is still running great even though it is now down to one 8TB drive, lol. Now I just got to figure out how to copy the Plex data over (not the media files, as that was copied over several days ago). I'm still reading UnRAID documents as much as I can.

I'm finally at the first Parity syncing stage, yay. Ten hours to go. I got the cache in the Pool Devices section formatted as btrfs too. Not sure that I can touch the machine while Parity is happening though. So I guess I will leave it to do its thing. Thanks again. So tomorrow I will finally get to setup docker and pms. Any idea when UnRAID will start high water leveling the data across the two data Array drives?
