  1. Hello All, I'm trying to set up a new Homelab using Unraid. I decided to move away from a Synology NAS, really apprecated all that I could see that Unraid was capable of and it seemed less troublesome than some other possible Homelab setups. I've always been good with tech but that is without any real training in computers or networking. Unfortunately, I am having NO LUCK setting up Unraid. After a good amount of research, I decided to set up my hardware with a mini pc and a Terramaster 4-drive bay, as it should give me plenty of processing power and be an easy upgrade later down the line. I have four 14 TB HDDs and have yet to get the array working. I've restarted this process around 5-6 times. I've never had the parity drive become enabled. Trying to get the parity drive working, I decided I would try fully reformatting everything again but (after reading someone's suggestion that one should set up initially with encryption) decided to change the format to xfs encrypted. Still no parity. Tried it again....same setup but somehow in the process lost the encryption password so I tried re-formatting and adding a new passsword. Didn't work, never would format the 2 disks that were encrypted. Tried that again. No luck. Decided to reformatting without encryption, started the format process again. After 2 days, I have one drive still formatting, 2 drives saying unmountable, wrong or no file system, and the parity drive--of course--still disabled. I'm at a loss. I haven't had time to do this consistently because of some work travel. I'm now 7 days into an extended trial and I'm thinking I'll never get it to work and maybe I should try another OS. I still think Unraid will be best for me but I'm at a loss. If anyone has ideas on what to do to get an array working, I would appreciate it. I would upload the diagnostics, but--after clicking download, I can find no indication that any file has been downloaded.

  3. Hello, I have a feeling that I will need a 15-day extension as well. As a complete first-timer to Unraid I was trying to set up a new array at a time when I was very busy and was out of town for a week. While I spent quite a few hours multiple times, I was never successful at getting an array set up. The parity drive would never mount correctly. If I never get a successful array, can I still get an extension. Unraid appears to the most likely OS for my successfully running my first homelab and I have planned on purchasing it. I simply don't want to purchase it if I cannot get it to work.
