  1. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! That did it and I'm all set now!
  2. Hi. I'm trying to build a new Unraid server as a replacement for my existing unraid server which is showing it's age! I went with a i5-10400 CPU on a ASUS TUF Gaming B-460M-Plus motherboard. Issue - On booting into Unraid I see the message ipv4 address not set and ipv6 address not set. I tried deleting the network.cfg file and rebooted and still get the same issue. The machine is connected via ethernet to a Eero mesh-router node. Diagnostics are attached. I have also attached output from ifconfig -a (from the command line) as well. You will see SATA issues in the logs as well since no drives have been installed in the server yet. NOTE: The same machine when booted into Windows connects to the network properly, so the cable / connections seem to be fine. Can anyone take a look at the what the issue could be. Thanks! ifconfig.txt homevault-diagnostics-20201216-0754.zip
  3. Thank you! I realized after I posted my list that the 10400F didn't have onboard graphics. I will switch it with the i5-10400
  4. After thinking long and hard I thought about going with something a little more than a barebones budget build. I came up with the following build components (except for hard drives). Thought here is I can probably run a couple of VMs if needed inside unraid as well if I wanted to with the additional RAM / CPU power. Would appreciate any inputs / suggestions: PCPartPicker Part List: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/cFJJkX CPU: Intel Core i5-10400F 2.9 GHz 6-Core Processor ($169.99 @ Amazon) CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 RGB Black Edition 57.3 CFM CPU Cooler ($34.99 @ Amazon) Motherboard: Asus PRIME B460M-A Micro ATX LGA1200 Motherboard - 6 SATA ports ($79.98 @ Amazon) Memory: Crucial Ballistix 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory ($139.99 @ Amazon) Case: Fractal Design Node 804 MicroATX Mid Tower Case ($94.98 @ Amazon) Power Supply: Corsair RM (2019) 650 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply ($139.29 @ Amazon)
  5. Been a while since my first Unraid build (7 years ago!!) which has been working fine for me till date. Kudos to the user community here for helping me out of panic mode a few times when I've had issues like unclean shutdown / parity failure etc. I'm looking to build a new system as a replacement for my existing machine. Existing specs: MB: ASRock B75 Pro3-M CPU: Celeron G1620 Memory: 4GB Drives: 5 x 3TB (1 parity) + 1 x 2TB. Total 14TB with around 2.5TB free space. Case: Silverstone Technology CS380B (with hot-swap bays) All I'm using this for is for Plex serving my media files and backup storage. No complains as of now except some of the drives are old and are showing UDMA CRC error counts and would like to upgrade to a little more CPU power/ram to be able to handle multiple transcoding streams. I wanted to build a new budget system and maybe upgrade to fewer bigger drives. A 6 SATA motherboard instead of 8 should be enough I'm thinking of the following: CPU: Intel Core i3-9100 3.6 GHz Quad-Core Processor Motherboard: ASRock B365M Pro4 Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard Memory: Crucial Ballistix 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory Looking for suggestions for an alternate AMD build as well cases I can use for a 6 drive build.
  6. Thanks for all the help! Disk 5 was rebuilt and server is happy now
  7. Should I just start a new parity check with write corrections to disk? I don't see any option to rebuild data on a disk and disk 5 still shows with a red X instead of a blue dot.
  8. server rebooted and new diags attached mediatower-diagnostics-20190724-1828.zip
  9. HELP!! I had a disk go bad on my server (disk 5 marked with an X and contents emulated). I was running dual parity and for some reason (read BRAIN F**T) I stopped the array, replaced the bad diskl with the Parity 2 disk and started the array again thinking I will go back to single parity and have the disk 5 rebuilt. BUT after restarting the array it hasn't started rebuilding the disk and still shows disk 5 as X with contents emulated. Attaching the server logs here. Any help appreciated! Thanks! mediatower-diagnostics-20190723-1928.zip
  10. @Benson - Thanks - That did it! Data rebuild is in progress. Hopefully there will be no issues!
  11. Thanks Benson but how do I start the array without doing a parity check since it was an unclean shutdown?
  12. So - had a disk fail (disk2) few days back and the contents of the disk were in emulated mode. Yesterday had a power failure and now server needs to do a parity check due to unclean shutdown. What should my steps be so I don't lose any data? I've already received a replacement disk and can install it to be rebuilt but I wanted to make sure I follow the proper steps! Thanks in advance!
  13. Thanks for your help everyone! Looks like I received a bad batch of SATA cables. Switched to an older cable I had lying around and the errors are all gone now and data transfer is very stable.
  14. I recently moved my unraid h/w from my old case to a new silvertone case with hot swap drive bays about a week back. Since then whenever I try to write something to the array the transfer speed fluctuates wildly and even fails sometime (reaching 0 MB/s). At the same time I see these errors popup in the logs: May 13 08:51:56 MediaTower kernel: ata2.00: exception Emask 0x10 SAct 0x0 SErr 0x280100 action 0x6 frozen May 13 08:51:56 MediaTower kernel: ata2.00: irq_stat 0x08000000, interface fatal error May 13 08:51:56 MediaTower kernel: ata2: SError: { UnrecovData 10B8B BadCRC } May 13 08:51:56 MediaTower kernel: ata2.00: failed command: READ DMA EXT May 13 08:51:56 MediaTower kernel: ata2.00: cmd 25/00:40:50:17:c9/00:05:5c:00:00/e0 tag 0 dma 688128 in May 13 08:51:56 MediaTower kernel: res 50/00:00:4f:17:c9/00:00:5c:00:00/e0 Emask 0x10 (ATA bus error) May 13 08:51:56 MediaTower kernel: ata2.00: status: { DRDY } May 13 08:51:56 MediaTower kernel: ata2: hard resetting link May 13 08:51:56 MediaTower kernel: ata2: SATA link up 1.5 Gbps (SStatus 113 SControl 310) May 13 08:51:56 MediaTower kernel: ata2.00: ACPI cmd ef/10:06:00:00:00:00 (SET FEATURES) succeeded May 13 08:51:56 MediaTower kernel: ata2.00: ACPI cmd f5/00:00:00:00:00:00 (SECURITY FREEZE LOCK) filtered out May 13 08:51:56 MediaTower kernel: ata2.00: ACPI cmd b1/c1:00:00:00:00:00 (DEVICE CONFIGURATION OVERLAY) filtered out May 13 08:51:56 MediaTower kernel: ata2.00: ACPI cmd ef/10:06:00:00:00:00 (SET FEATURES) succeeded May 13 08:51:56 MediaTower kernel: ata2.00: ACPI cmd f5/00:00:00:00:00:00 (SECURITY FREEZE LOCK) filtered out May 13 08:51:56 MediaTower kernel: ata2.00: ACPI cmd b1/c1:00:00:00:00:00 (DEVICE CONFIGURATION OVERLAY) filtered out May 13 08:51:56 MediaTower kernel: ata2.00: configured for UDMA/33 May 13 08:51:56 MediaTower kernel: ata2: EH complete Can someone shed some light on this. Is this a bad cable connection I need to look at. Seems thee errors are always on ata2. If it's a loose / bad SATA cable causing the issue - which drive should I be looking at?
  15. THANK YOU SO MUCH!! Really appreciate all the help from members johnnie.black and trurl! Array is back online. Data on disk 4 (that was lost originally) has been rebuilt and is accessible now. I'm a happy camper now Best!
  16. That seemed to help! moved the cable for disk1 to another slot. Went thru the same procedure as above. All disks are showing green (none of the disks show as unmountable!!). Parity sync/data-rebuild is in process and estimated time is 5.5 hrs. Hopefully this is it!! I'll post updates once this process finishes.
  17. Sorry for the delayed response. I was unable to work on the system till now. So I switched cables around. Parity seems to be working now but disk 1 shows as disabled now. I performed the above steps again and attaching the logs here. Should I be running filesystem check now (if so - how?) OR should I repeat above steps again after trying to reseat disk1? mediatower-diagnostics-20180406-0930.zip
  18. Completed above steps. It started by stying Array started. Parity-sync / Data rebuild 0.5% in the status bar. It also showed Disk4 as unmountable and showing Parity device as disabled. But after a few mins looks like whatever it was doing has stopped. Should I get another diagnostic log to post here?
  19. Stopped the array. Rebooted. Attaching logs here. Console is showing following on Parity disk "PARITY DEVICE IS DISABLED", ALL DATA ON THIS DISK WILL BE ERASED WHEN ARRAY IS STARTED". I'm not starting the array for now! mediatower-diagnostics-20180404-1117.zip
  20. HELP!! I replaced the drive with the new drive. Assigned it to Disk 4. But the array now started with the following (see attached image and log files). I can't access any of my emulated data as well! Attaching logs here as well. mediatower-diagnostics-20180404-1034.zip
  21. Thanks! Just waiting for my new drive to arrive. Will post here once I've got my server back up!
  22. Hmm. Even if I can start the array and it can do a non-correcting parity check - wouldn't it mark parity as invalid since it can't access disk4? Then will it be able to use the invalid parity to rebuild the disk?
