Some background; I received a custom built PC from a family member ~3 years ago because they didnt want to spend the money / take the time to fix it (it would turn on but it wouldnt get to the bios screen). I finally got around to checking it out this week, the power supply was under voltage on the 12v rail, swapped it out and everything worked again. So now that it's working I want to utilize it for home storage. Im slowly getting it setup. Right now my array consists of one WD 1TB HDD (that came with the PC) and one 256GB SSD for the cache. I was the one that built the PC originally so I know the 1TB drive was new in 2015. When I first got unraid running there were two SMART errors on the drive, "current pending sector" and "offline uncorrectable sector 67". I ran a short and a long SMART check on the drive, short passed long failed at 90%. I then installed preclear, cleared the drive and ran 2 rounds of preclear (no errors), and put it back into the array in ZFS format. I ran a short and long SMART test again and both passed. The "current pending sector" error is gone but the "offline uncorrectable" error remains. The array starts fine, I have not gotten to adding shares yet so I dont know if it will actually work yet. Im going to get a couple larger HDD's to add to the array and setup a parity drive but im not sure if I should be replacing the 1TB drive before I get too deep into it.
