  2. On reboot it breaks again; acts like nothing is attached. Very confused. Regards
  3. I did a little digging, reading, and alot of praying. Seems like my VM is currently updating Windos 11 Pro right now. Hopefully I get good performance. I still need to remove bloatware though (shouldve used that .xml that includes that lol.) Thanks everyone.

Drives that I have are: Samsung 970 Pro 250 GB (Formerly Windows 11 Pro OS in the same machine without Unraid; want it to run in a VM within Unraid) Samsung 970 Pro 2TB (Formerly Windows 11 Pro Games/Storage Folder) - still formatted in NTFS not used/passedthrough until Windows 11 VM gets completed. My Storage Drives - (3) Samsung 870 Evo (1 TB) for a total capacity of (2 Tb) SSD drives work fine in the array for storage. VM boots fine but neither m.2 gets detected in Windows VM so essentially it shows I have no where to install the Windows 11 Pro VM. Whew; Thanks

Hi, Ill get that information but I have been adjusting settings and I can get the VM to boot into the install and go through the process but I cant get any of my drives to show up as an option to install the Windows onto. I want to use the entire (or remaining entire) m.2 for the Windows install like I had it when it was being used as the Gaming PC only. I have seperate SSD's running fine in an array for my storage of actual files. I guess I can try to include screenshots of what options I chose while creating the VM if that would help? Regards
  8. I currently have (2) seperate m.2 drives and (3) SSD drives in the machine. The (3) SSD's are in an array for NAS files. the small m.2 is the OS/VM drive and the large m.2 was where all my games and files were kept when it was a Windows 11 only machine. How do I properly add these m.2 drives to the VM? Thanks
  9. I am able to get Windows 11 Pro VM to boot to the install but it doesnt find any drives. I want to install it to my m.2 drive but the installer sees no drives. I created the VM container itself large enough as well in case it had to be installed there. I am able to go through the steps of installing Windows 11 Pro and put in my key then at basically the last part it ask where to install and my m.2 drive isnt shown and actually no drives are shown. If You arent able to get any VM's working no use in toying with Your actual data until You figure that out. If You can create a new VM then great sounds like You are further then You were before. Once You check everything seems to be working on the New VM You should be able to copy the pre-attack backup data into the verified working VM. Do You/Anyone see a flaw with that? Regards

  12. I would suggest creating two VM's. One fresh (and fully secured to the best of Your ability) with none of Your data. Verify its security, update it, and back it up. The second VM use as Your recovery setting. Extract Your data; and only Your data, from it and then remove that VM entirely. Manually integrate Your data into the new VM so that You can verify what exact data is being restored. Do one section at a time creating Your restore points/backups and checking for other possible points of failure. I feel like this approach should ensure You have a secured VM with only verified data inserted. Regards
  13. I still think its a VM or Docker container that got penetrated. Both have the ability to cause the issues You are facing if they have been breached.
  14. Yes pull the diagnostics and post it. No shutdown or reboot until that step is done. Also if I am understanding the rest of it correctly if You have no data on the VM's lets first secure and harden the server and the i/o connections themselves first and then move onto the VM's (which I would probably just reinstall from scratch since You said they contain no data and would be better rebuilt on a fully verified and harden Unraid install anyways.)   15. Hello, i have some questions before I can try to give an answer. Do You have another PC available? How many GB's/TB's are we talking about for Your VM's each? Are You accessing Your server via a Windows PC or Linux PC? Are You accessing Your server directly or remotely/browser Besides Your VM problems does the rest of Your data seem to be intact/stable? Are the VM's accessing only a specific drive or an entire pool? Are You certain now that Your server is hardened? (If You attempt to fix Your VM's but the server itself is accessible then Your VM's are also accessible) If not can You take it fully offline BEFORE you begin any repairs or do You require it stay running while the fix is implemented? Have You checked Your log to see the admin/user logins and date/time stamps? If Yes do they all appear normal? What online sources are You using to link with Your server. SSO or Recoveries etc. For Me I need those things to understand more. If You wish You can message privately for any data that You wish not be made public. Regards
  16. No, no, no, I wasnt talking to You specifically. I was putting a block on anyone else You might draw to this thread who would want to complain about the forum. If You do a search You will see other people who has commented on something that they didnt like or that was broken with the forum and pointed that towards Unraid. I just wanted to clear up that Unraid doesnt control the forum software's features/abilites and probably would have to contact the forum software owners the same as we all would.   19. Ohhhh interesting. If I had a secondary server I would beta test that. I probably wouldnt want to use it on my own server as standard as I have my own reservations on the whole "TPM" experiment. My hardware supports and has TPM which I was requried to activate for the Windows 11 Pro install but I dont honestly think that TPM was actually built for the purpose they want Us to believe. (Puts on tinfoil hat and walks away)
  20. I also only have smaller usb 2.0 drives that I use for booting from. The only thing I use 3.0 drives for are my portable drives (I have one with portable type apps and my personal files and I have one that I keep in my survival bag with an offline version of wikipedia and stuff like that on.) So I guess I wasnt fully aware that newer 3.X versions have continual activity. I am still confused by that term of "continual activity" because a USB can only do 1 of 2 things. Read or Write. The computer is what is doing the processing. Im not sure if anyone remembers this but some time ago I remember having to sometimes change my usb power settings to "always on" because my usbs would basically hibernate or go into sleep mode because of the lack of activity; I dont think this is much of a problem now a days though and might be the reason that 3.0's are made to do continual acitivity; Im just guessing there. In any regards I am hoping to hear back from the correct people/channels in the new few days that would solve this problem for all of Unraid users.
  21. Free cookie to whoever can hold my hand making my VM boot correctly! Things I want. Essentially I want a VM that I can fire up when I want to play some games. Normally I would do this on my Windows 11 Pro PC but I have since ditched Windows and only have my Linux daily driver laptop. I still have the gaming pc that I used to game on but now its installed with Unraid. :) Passthrough support for my periphals like keyboard, mouse, xbox controller, etc. as if I was playing on a regular PC. Things I have tried. 1. Every video I found on Youtube that was relevant. 2. Searched and read multiple guides on the internet. Problems I mostly run into. 1. I cant get any VM's to work. I have tried the stated Windows, Steam OS, and a Linux VM and none will work on my Unraid. 2. VM creation error: internal error: Failed to start QEMU binary /usr/local/sbin/qemu for probing: Start/autostart is disabled in VM settings. I have verified that VM's are enabled etc. Who wants a cookie? Thanks!

"They don't believe in their own product?" - Unraid's product is the Unraid OS/Software. They dont develop forums. In fact I would wager 90% of the worlds companies use forums from another company. PHPBB, Invision, Flarum, SMF, etc. For example Debian, Raspberry Pi, Gentoo, etc all use PHPBB officially; with many other companies using either one of the others I listed or another provider entirely. I dont think its because they dont believe in their own products ......... I think its because they would rather focus their resources (time, money, etc.) on Unraid and not developing their forum software. In my use it seems to live up to all of their marketing claims. - That's how an honest company operates. They tell You what You get when You pay and then give You what You paid for. I fail to see the problem. Are they not telling me about some weakness or backdoor that they know exists. - This is a multi fold question. First You would have to assume that there is or possibly could be a weakness or backdoor present. Then You would have to assume that Unraid is fully aware of it. Then You would have to assume that since Unraid knows about it they had to make a choice to fix it or leave it alone and "not tell anyone" Finally, assuming all of those things You would then have to assume that Unraid's goal is to destroy their own reputation and brand simply by not addressing those security issues and losing their customers and losing tons of money to refund request/lawsuits. I doubt that is what is going on here. In fact they have a dedicated section in the forums where they not only tell Us about the issues but keep Us up to date with post and direct interactions for You "whitehat hackers" to discuss all about it right here: https://forums.unraid.net/topic/185572-critical-security-vulnerabilies-discovered/ Finally, not many companies in the world give a FULLY FUNCTIONAL trial for 30 days (which can be extended if needed) for You to test it out and be sure that it works fully the way You want it. They even provide You the support You need to acheive this. Would I like to see a few more admins/moderators added to the team for a faster response time; Yes but this is the same for almost all companies. In fact Unraids support is the same regardless if You are on the free trial or a lifetime member. This might sound trivial but I can name several companies with much higher budgets who wont give You support at all on the Free/Trial Versions and some even make You pay for "Expert" Support seperately even after You buy the product. Unraid gives You support for Free; even if You dont appreciate it. Regards
