Hi all, author of MytView here. MytView is a small media server that stays out of your way. I built it for three things I could not find together: Private by design. No central account, no telemetry, no ads. Video streams from your Unraid box to your screens; remote access is yours to arrange, not a paid feature. Strictly read-only. It never writes, renames, moves or tags your files. It reads the sidecar metadata already on disk (.info.json for creator channels, Kodi/Emby .nfo for movies and shows) and keeps its own state in appdata. Small footprint. One container, SQLite, about 300 MB. Files play directly when the device can decode them; a live transcode starts in seconds only when it cannot. Also: per-person watch state on every device, owner-controlled sharing per channel, native apps for iPhone/iPad, Apple TV, Android and Google TV (Samsung TV in store review, source on GitHub to sideload meanwhile), federation between two homes, and two-way watched-state sync with Plex on the same files. Install: Apps tab, search MytView. Three fields matter: the video library share (mounted read-only) and the data and transcode folders, which default under appdata. Then open the WebUI and sign up; the first account is the owner. Intel iGPU: set TRANSCODE_HWACCEL to 1 and add --device=/dev/dri:/dev/dri to Extra Parameters (Advanced View, no trailing space). Transcodes fail but direct play works? The share holding the transcode folder has a Minimum free space larger than the pool can honor. Keep it on a cache pool. The phone and TV apps are a one-time purchase per ecosystem, free forever if installed before 1 November 2026, nothing to buy inside. Solo project, built with heavy use of AI coding tools under my direction; every release runs on my own Unraid box first. Bug reports and requests welcome here or on GitHub.
