  1. How did the build go? I wonder if it's possible to use the 6 SATA drives (4 from the mini SAS) and the M.2 at the same time (7 drives total)...
  2. https://www.servercase.co.uk/shop/server-cases/tower-cases/ablecom-soho-nas-chassis-black--250w-psu-cs-m50/ Supermicro has a similar one.
  3. You can check this one out: http://www.nanoxia-world.com/product/1/83/Deep+Silence+6+Rev.+B I believe you can add another 3-drive internal cage (it was possible in the former revision).
  4. Actually, they do seem to ship to the Netherlands as well. You would have to pay for VAT and Customs on arrival though.
  5. I've seen guys claiming 1500 passmark per 1080p stream would suffice, but of course its always better to be on the safe side than regretting later. https://forums.plex.tv/index.php/topic/116485-qnap-ts-x51-series/?p=707043
  6. ...an indication of how many simultaneous 1080p transcoding streams it can handle would be nice too I've read 1 to 4 from different sources, so that doesn't help much.
  7. I'm pretty sure i've seen reports of C224 motherboards supporting Vt-d (namely the mini-itx E3C224D2I), but i digress.

    New Build

I think the right question is... why do you want the integrated graphics? If you plan on using the Server with some kind of HTPC VM plugged into a TV, it won't work as this motherboard has no HDMI (at the moment there's no way of passing through integrated graphics to VM's either... as far as i know), unless you use a dedicated GPU. If you just want to plug it into a monitor then you can use the mobo's VGA. I might be missing something but the X10SL7-F uses the C222 chipset so it can't make use of the CPU's integrated graphics (only C226 chipset can).
  9. No need to lose a slot for the cache drive: the DS380 holds 8x3.5'' plus 4x2.5''.
  10. You may want to read this: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=29906.msg269345#msg269345 http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=30001.0
  11. You are correct, the DS380 is miniITX (extended mini ITX won't work either).
  12. Is your RAM DIMM on the board's memory qvl? http://www.asrockrack.com/general/productdetail.asp?Model=E3C224-4L#Memory QVL
  13. I noticed some users complaining about the same on Reddit. I didn't try though: http://www.reddit.com/r/Tretflix/comments/242pft/is_there_a_torrent_to_download_the_tretflix_vms/

  15. The lack of expandability options is one of the things that bothers me in the current generation of SM's server motherboards. The X10SAT would be a nice option if SM didn't treat it as a desktop motherboard (no IPMI but it has vPro). There's a thread in the forums where IronicBadger reported some issues with it. ASRock's E3C224-4L could be another, but ASRock's implementation of IPMI is considered buggy by some sources.
  16. How did it go? I read a report about AsRock's IPMI not being as good as SM's. Are you happy with the motherboard overall? Thanks.
  17. Maybe I'm missing something, but shouldn't the HDD cabling be facing the other side of the case? Take a look at the pictures in this review: http://www.legitreviews.com/fractal-design-define-xl-r2-case-review_2228/5
  18. Something like this? http://d4rk.co/ Source: https://forums.plex.tv/index.php/topic/84856-network-status-page/
  19. I'm pretty sure the E3C224-V+ doesn't have IPMI - only models E3C224 and E3C224-4L do. I would double check the MB's User Manual before ordering. And yes, it's a pitty the Asrock C226 WS doesn't have IPMI or vPro. It would become a clear winner for a home virtualization setup if it did.
  20. It seems to be a typo in the link: http://apertoire.net/dockeritazion/
  21. I sent my email to the European Branch Headquarters @ The Netherlands instead ([email protected]), but I'm yet to hear back from them
  22. This goes without saying but have you tried KVM / ESXi / XenServer instead just to test if the behaviour is the same and rule out a possible hypervisor issue?
  23. I was getting ready to buy that very same motherboard when i read DanaG's comment @ Hardforum regarding the impossibility of EFI booting the host from the ASMedia SATA controller (i wanted to passthrough the Intel controller to a VM). I feel your pain, but i'm kinda glad i waited for a definite report regarding vt-d working properly or not. Back to square one i guess. All i wanted was a mobo with vt-d working, IPMI/VPro and 2 SATA controllers so i could passthrough one of them to a VM if needed. Is this that much to ask?
