  1. shows as 4,883,770,532 in detail view
  2. now it shows "HPA?" in Tower1 MyMain while Rebuilding Parity. Is this going to be a problem? Odd it did not show in Tower2 (where it was precleared).
  3. Preclear Successful ... Total time 40:05:21 ... Pre-Read time 9:09:02 (151 MB/s) ... Zeroing time 8:11:57 (169 MB/s) ... Post-Read time 22:43:19 (61 MB/s) Now installed in Tower1 as new parity drive Parity-Sync in progress. Total size: 5 TB Current position: 42.5 MB (0 %) Estimated speed: 42.5 MB/sec Estimated finish: 1 day, 8 hours, 37 minutes
  4. size = 4,883,770,552 Pre-Read. 48% @ 175 MB/s (3:51:07) I don't see anything mentioning HPA. Where would that be located?
  5. tried it just now Pre-Read. 27% @ 181 MB/s (2:04:02) I use a KVM with a 21" monitor for the two servers so I have it up on the screen now too.
  6. hmmm... that is what laptop could see through usb2 connection. Drive is preclearing now in unRaid and shows full 5TB. (deleted image to avoid confusion)
  7. 5TB arrived a day early. Removing the case is definably a one-way proposition (no screws, uses locking tabs). Not going to be able to send it back now. I believe these are re-branded Hitachi drives. model: MD04ACA500, Mfg data 2/27/14, firmware A0. Preclear on a 2TB takes about 22 hrs so this one will be couple days PS. instructions on ruining the case http://goughlui.com/?p=4688 PSS. No hidden partitions (at least Windows 7 can't see any). Just warranty PDF and autorun to install backup software.
  8. Both boxes have a single AOC-SASLP-MV8 in them. I see some threads here that they appear to work with 3 & 4 TB.
  9. I presume you've already upgraded to v5 (or 6) ... but a more compelling question (given that you've currently got all 2TB drives) is whether or not you've confirmed that the system supports > 2TB drives ... Both boxes are running v5.x. I can't find a definitive yes (or no) on either motherboard as to any limits on HDD size. Asus M4a785-M (older tower) Biostar A880GZ (new box)
  10. Maybe. But you will be the first person using a 5T drive. Depending on the size it may need a myMain config change even if the is no HPA. Let me know when you get it and I can direct you. It will be placed as parity drive on a full 26 TB server (all 2 TB drives). Then I can start replacing those drives with larger and adding the 2 TBs to Tower2
  11. thanks for the heads up. Have Toshiba 5TB arriving soon and it likely has hidden crap.
  12. I had this quandary late last year and frankly I think I made the wrong decision (not bad, just not optimal). I too was running 4.7 and my 26TB (all 2TB drives) server was almost full. Build a new one I said to myself! So I did, new box with 3 or 4 2TB drives to start. When v5 was released out of beta, I read then that it supported larger drives (doh!). Now that 4TBs have come down in price to be feasible additions, I will start replacing the 2TBs in Tower1 with 4TB drives. I have already filled 6 TBs in Tower2 so I think I will keep it rather than transfer over to Tower1. Anyway, if I had researched more thoroughly, I would have just the one original Tower and be replacing drives with 4 or 5 TB models and selling off the 2 TBs while they are still worth something. 20/20 hind sight PS. Both Towers now running 5.x with no issues at all.
  13. Another vote for the Dune HD D1. Solid as a rock; reliable as an appliance. I retired my HTPC running MyMovies server/client through Windows 7 Media Center. Been there, done that, tired of maintaining an entire PC for one specific task, watching movies. Installed the stand-alone MyMovies collection management to my laptop to maintain my collection and it sends updates to the Dune which houses its "wall of covers" on internal SSD. All titles are stored and streamed off 2 UnRaid boxes. They also just came out with an HDMI dongle that can do all the same things as my full size unit (with exception of internal storage). Have not tested but thinking about one for the bedroom that can share the index I already have.
  14. just a guess but did you run the permissions scripts after your upgrade?
  15. Only shut down long enough to swap or add disks. Otherwise 2 towers running 24/7 with most of that time all drives sleeping. Built to be green, the two use less power than the single Dell Windows server they replaced.
  16. I am looking for a solution that allows me to retire my HTPC (currently running MyMovies). All the BRD/DVD rips are on 2 uRaid boxes in office. The movie collection software (SQL & media center player) is on the HTPC. I'd love something that I could manage collection (covers, UNC paths etc) that ran on unRaid but that I could use a mini player (VidOn.me Android Blu-ray Box (AV200) soon to arrive here) to browse the collection and play the movies. The VidOn.me is supposed to work with XMBC. Does what we are discussing here fit that bill?
  17. When you get a chance please delete this topic as I have decided not to sell them here.
  18. just to followup to the realtek (onboard) network issue stuck at 100 Mbps, Ordered Intel EXPI9301CTBLK Network Adapter 10/100/1000Mbps PCI-Express 1 x RJ45 frok Newegg. Installed today (disabled onboard) and it cam right up at 1000 Mbps. Could be placebo effect but it seems to boot faster too.
  19. may... be... solved. Just happen to be on the HTPC today doing some rips to local disk and I noticed I had access to Pictures and Music on Tower2. On the laptop now... have since re-booted from last attempts.. and i can see and copy/write as far as I can tell. Gremlins? PS. am able to read/write/delete the folder/files I could not yesterday. Tested 2 apps as well as manual.
  20. yes on both runs it said completed with a button to close. I looked in main PC control panel and did not see any credentials saved for either Tower. What's odd is that movie rips are fine (created using DVDFab). I can read/edit/delete fine in those.
  21. more background info. no users or shares in 4.7 before upgrade (have since added a user but no shares, flailing in the dark here lol) wide open Public drives Add-ons: unMenu, "C" compiler & development tools (for mail addon), mail and ssmtp, unRAID Status Alert and Monthly Parity Check The problem drive is different from the others in that the others are all blu-ray/dvd rips and get very little traffic. Drive1 (problem drive) I have setup some folders for storing HD images for screensaver, music for HTPC media center and various app backup destinations. It gets enough traffic that it rarely spins down if at all. the PCs that access these folders are all Windows 7 Pro
  22. upgraded from 4.7 to 5 last night. Today I get around to trying to write to the drives. When trying to copy from unRaid to my PC, I am getting a message that says the network location could not be found even though I am looking right at the file. Attempting to write gets similar error. See attached screen. Other drives tested on same server (all movie rips) and I can copy from them (have not tried to write) PS I ran the new permissions utility last night and again today. No change to Disk1 behavior. PSS. I can browse to and view the files in MUSIC and PICTURES with unMenu File Browser. syslog.zip
