  1. just to chime in. over the last 4ish years running unraid ive had 2 CRAPPY flash drives die. both times tom has transfered my liscence onto a new flash drive in less that 2 hours.thx for the outstanding service
  2. I'm using a m1015 card with all 8 drives connected to it. I updated to the latest version but it's still topping out at 15MB. I'm thinking it might be a issue with midnight commander because windows transfers are around 25MB+ and rebuilding parity was around 45MB ive added a syslog if that helps also seem to be having problems stopping the array. its hanging on unmounting the disk if the syslog helps with that. thx unraid.txt
  3. thx for your reply. will update it when i get home from work. is that abnormal speeds? ive never tried mc before and used to use windows to transfer files which as expected was also very slow. what kinda speeds do everyone else get internally? thx
  4. i recently rebuilt my server. its a mitx board with a 3.0ghz dualcore pentium lga1150 cpu and 8gb of ram. i have 8 2tb wd green drives connected to a m1015 sata card running in a pciex16 slot on the mobo. im using 5.0 rc1 i believe. when using midnight commander to move groups of large files (ie 25x7gb files) the transfer speeds are 15-20MBs. is thsi normal speed for internal transfers? also 3 of the drives in my array HAVE jumpers installed on them if that makes any diffrance .thx in advance SIDE NOTE have had 2 flash drives die over the last 4-5 years using unraid. would like to thank tom for his super fast replies to my email to transfer my liscence to another flash drive getting me back up and running in less than 2 hours. :)
  5. i have tried to add another drive to my machine. this is the third drive i have tried to preclear when connected to my add in 2 port sata card that failed. should i stop running the add in card? i dont want it to cause me issues in the future. is it possible its not compatible. http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX30623 thats the card im using. i have attached a smart report also. thx smart.txt
  6. thx for the replies. i pre cleared both disks successfully in my other machine. when i ran the preclear in my main rig both drives were conected to a 2 port sata card and were connected to a splitter so i think maybe that was the issue
  7. its set at mbr unaligned i belive that is that problem? im currently running it again so i canot obtail a smart report
  8. i just left 2 new disks overnight on preclear and after waking this morning it shows steps 1-10 are done but then at the bottom says sorry disk/sdh mbr could not be precleared. any suggestions on what to do now? they are unjumpered wd 2.0tb green drives and im on 5.0rc8 so i did not use the -a command
  9. so the drives have precleared succefully does that mean they should be ok now or whoud i be running further tests ? thx
  10. after leaving it for a few minutes it has started preclearing
  11. so i have removed all the data from the 2 drives however when i try to preclear them the preclear scrirpt just freezes up right away. have tried some other disks and they preclear properly? any suggestions
  12. If I was to just plug one of the drives into my windows PC will it recognize it and allow me to copy the files? If not is there a free program that will allow me to do that. Thx again
  13. The server works fine currently with those disks on 4.7 however the problem disks are holding archived stuff that I don't access oftan.there probably is corrupt files that I haven't touched since the issues occurred. I'll just try copying straight to windows and see what happens. Hopefully those bad sectors don't hold a lot of files
  14. Would I be able to copy the data off those drives to my desktop with a better chance of recovery? Then after pre clearing transfer them back that way I only loose whatever was on those sectors rather then pre clear then fail on rebuild causing total loss of entire disk
  15. Sorry I think my wording was bad. What I mean is I just rebuilt parity so are those disks error gonna be copied to the parity drive now. If I replaced one for example with a new disk should it rebuild properly? I'm worried if I pre clear one disk at a time am I gonna loose the data on rebuild
