  1. Hey all is it possible for the display of the active streams to be on the dashboard underneath parity status? also 0 programming skills/ so can a novice do it? thanks
  2. No!!!!! Please don't stop. The current gui is good enough but yours just makes it great! The only reason this thread is pretty quite is because of its location. Even i forgot about development>webGUI design lol. I really hope that you could somehow collaborate with bonienl who definitely knows all about unraid webGUI and make this already awesome interface even better and compatible with 6.0 final what he said
  3. Thanks NAS! Appreciate the feedback. I am working on more video content like a mad man right now. There will be a series of videos we will publish to inform folks what can be done with unRAID and how. As much as text and pictures on the website can help, a lot more understanding can be achieved in a lot less time when watching a video. absolutely, the amount of times i've tried to read a solution for something on a tech site and been stumped, only to find a video and get the issue solved. never a truer word...
  4. PM me a link. Your changes sound interesting and useful. I'll review and incorporate the improvements. Joe L. Joe => Did you ever have a chance to look at these modifications and, if so, are they going to be incorporated? I noticed on the first post in this thread that there haven't been any new releases of cache_dirs, so I assume this hasn't been done yet. Just curious if it's in the works, as it does sound like a useful set of changes for x64 systems. Bueller?
  5. Who got da biggest I'm 7T's :P :P :P
  6. Definitely a nice array ... but not all that much "cabbage" when you use older technology => you can buy Xeon 5530's these days for ~ 1/10th of what they were when they were Exactly. I think I paid $70 for a matched pair of 5530s. I paid more for the f'ing heatsinks. I also really lucked out on the MB...$155 system pull. You did indeed luck out on the board. They're still over $400 most places, and even on e-bay they're generally over $300. I assume you had to actually pay "real" prices for the memory ... or did you luck into a deal on that as well? 12 sticks 4GB 2Rx4 PC3-10600R 24GB Hynix HMT151R7BFR4C-H9 FBD Server RAM ECC Reg (again...system pull) = $210 shipped. you guy ARE SO LUCKY to have access to something like ebay.. here is the good old RS of A tech is soooo expensive and access to second hand is almost none existent.. :'(
  7. thank you thank you thank you look forward to more... :D :D especially beginners starting from scratch and how to achieve the all singing all dancing kvm gaming docker unraid box as showcased on CAT5 tech TV...
  8. wish i had the cabbage for that setup nice array
  9. I really like the idea of a $29 entry point, great idea. I'd grab one of these myself for a test license (didn't grab the additional key, doh) while the $59 license is enough to make me think twice. +1
  10. You need to pass a physical USB flash device to your unRaid VM. i have the same type of environment for testing new versions/plugins... so does that mean after 30 days we will have to use a different usb stick and also how will it look if we keep asking for keys every 30 days ?
  11. think this should help https://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php/Viewing_the_System_Log
  12. First off lets ask the main question.... WHY CAN'T THE GUI RECOVER FROM A CRASH?? secondly in answer to your question here is some thing i read on one of this forums pages and then cut and paste to my google docs, so apologies to the owner of this text for not giving credit as i forget who did it. There is no command to re-start the array other than through the management interface (other than a reboot). To stop the array you must stop samba (since otherwise it would keep the disks busy) /root/samba stop then, you must un-mount each of the data drives umount /dev/md1 umount/dev/md2 etc Then you can stop the array /root/mdcmd stop To restart the array at that point, the easiest, and what I do, is type: reboot
  13. thanks this worked for me just updated to the latest preview and had the same problem
  14. thanks for all the time you guys take to make us understand the new docker. but judging by the number of views to this thread i am definitely not the only noob to understanding v6. it would be very nice if there was a sticky to explain the value of using the new features of v6, and how to use them, i am still lost as all the features splinter into new threads, as its in beta and no where definitive to start the journey into v6. what i am asking for is a possible sticky to using v6 and all its features.... tooo many splinter threads ....
  15. Happy New Year to all from sunny South Africa Looking forward to the next year in unRAID technology....

    BTRFS

In the new v6 beta 6 it is a requirement that the cache drive is in btrfs format if you want to start up the docker service. I think that is a good indication that unless serious issues are found during the beta process it is likely to become a standard feature. I'm hoping it makes it to the data drives as the cache drive is really irrelevant to have such a great file system on it.

question, who is "we're"? are you speaking on behalf of limetech? just trying to understand if this is an announcement or a wish... Take a look at the complaints thread starting on page 20. Jonp has been giving sneak peaks at new features in the upcoming beta, and btrfs (at least for the cache drive initially) is one of them. thanks will do lets hope it makes it into the product..
