  1. Tontonfranz - did you find a solution to this? I have the same issue: iTunes on my PC can see iTunes on my unRaid tower, but on my iPod I can only see my shared library on my PC, not the shared library on the server. Any ideas? Nope, but I'm beginning to think it's on purpose from Apple. I know that the AppleTV only supports 2 sharing protocols: Home Sharing and AirPlay, with Home Sharing being for sure close to Daap but not the same . I think that the Music App from iOS is the same and only understand Home Sharing and not general Daap (you can try with your iTunes on Mac or Windows: turn on Home Sharing and the shared library appears in iOS. Turn it off and it disappears.). As long as nobody succeed in reverse-engineering Home Sharing, you won't have a solution. In fact I think you'll have the same problems with the iTunes servers in a Synology. The only useful part of iOS for now is being a (expensive) remote..... Cheers,
  2. Hi speeding_ant, any news on recompiling the plugin with the newest ffmpeg to get rid of the "unknown genre"? Thanks,
  3. to partially answer my own question (and to ask for your help), it seems that this "unknown genre" problem is known and reported on the forked-daapd ticket system. It seems that the problem comes from the way ffmpeg read the atom genre in the mp4 file. it has been addressed and solved in ffmpeg 0.9 and later. Would it be possible for you to propose the package compiling forked-daapd against the newest ffmpeg?
  4. Hi speeding_ant, I discovered a bug when the forked-daapd is parsing the metadata of the files: when some (at least for now what I saw was for the title) of the metadata is using non-english letters (like é), all metadata are not read correctly: for me it's the "of X" for track number and disc number and also (and that's most annoying) the genre. When I looked at the blog of the creator of forked-daapd, it seems that any problem with utf-8 was solved. Is it a compilation problem or something from the soft?
  5. Do you have any idea why the shared library appears on my Mac/PC but not on my iOS ?
  6. Hi, first thanks for this plugin, I was praying for it for quite some time. I'm testing it and I found 2 little problems: 1) The scanner is not so great (it has problem finding some cd genre for me) but it's possible in forked-daapd to use the iTunes metadata (you could put it accessible through the GUI rather than in the config file) 2) I have a problem seeing the shared library with my iPhone. It appears perfectly in iTunes on my computers, I can use the remote app in iOS, but I don't know why, the shared library doesn't appear in my shared libraries on the Music app on iOS. Am I the only one?
  7. I'm connecting through ethernet, Samba, exactly the same way I did before (smb://tower and so on) I didn't change a single thing.... except Lion....
  8. I just upgraded from Mac OS Snow Leopard to Lion. When I browse the shares (user or disk shares) I have randomly empty folders where I know I have files. Connecting by telnet shows that the folders are full as they were, but still the finder don't see anything inside. In other cases I see only x files out of y.... I'm on Unraid 4.7. All my shares are exported by SMB. I know Lion doesn't have the same support for samba, but random occupancy of folders!!!!!! Can someone help me, please? Thanks in advance ;-) Franz
  9. Hi, Thanks for the package, and as you're redoing things, I'm getting a problem with AirVideo since I installed transmission. It's the same error that was describe here http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=6097.240. And when I don't reinstall on reboot Transmission everything seems to work ok. Having Transmission starts seems to be killing the atd process......
  10. Thanks a lot Raj!!!! I'll take the USB3 then: it's cheaper ;-) (that's why I was wondering if there was a pb) I was thinking minip180 because I won't be expending my storage so much, I'm now in a country where p2p is watched..... Otherwise which one would you recommend (I need silent!!!)? Oh last one: I'm also going for an Antec EarthWatts EA380 Green for power, would it be enough to power a 4 (maybe one day 6 or 7) drive unRAID?
  11. OK then I was thinking of this conf: Mobo: ASUS M4A88T-M or ASUS M4A88T-M/USB3 (if someone know the difference) Proc: AMD Athlon II X2 250 4Gb of DDR3 Ram 4 WD Green 2To EARS 64 Mo Antec mini p180 What do you think? Compatible? Enough for media streaming (with on the fly encoding)?
  12. I'm on the other side of the Atlantic.... the ASUS is not sold anymore (and Biostar is almost not present).... Any idea (I could go for a celeron dualcore even if it's at 65W... btw, I want to run airvideo and read/write on unRaid at the same time, shouldn't I profit of dualcore or the single Sempron would be enough?)
  13. Hi Raj, so what would you say: I need a cheap microATX with Gb internet and 6 SATA ports.I was going for a AM3 because the sempron is only 45W. Anything in mind?
  14. Hi guys any news on this problem with the nic? I was planning to order it now to get it for Christmas but I'm not so sure now... Any ideas if it is solved in 4.5.6 or in 4.6?
  15. Hi Unraiders ;-) Thanks a lot. Talmania, to answer you, I need quiet because it will be on top of a cupboard in my entrance hall next to my internet box, so at least at night it has to be dead quiet otherwise my wife will kill me ;-). Raj, I would also way prefer hot swap bays (that's why at first I was interested by Drobo, but..... no comment.... ;-) ), but I really need a small cube like form-factor (WAF quite important here ;-) ), hence those 2 cases (btw which one would you prefer?). But if you know of a small cube-like case with 6 hot-swap drive, I'll take it (even better if it's cheap). Anyway, thanks for all the comments guys.
