  1. I had the same error today. It was caused by the same issue... My USB drive was from when I first started using unraid in 2008. I swapped it out with a newer drive using the unraid USB creator tool and then copied over my config folder. I did have to swap my license too.
  2. Hi All, I just replaced my existing cache drive using the procedure listed here: https://wiki.lime-technology.com/Replace_A_Cache_Drive I did not unassign the drive before I removed it. I can set my new drive as cache, but it always goes unassigned on reboot. I removed the Unassigned Devices plugin, and have used multiple browsers. Nothing works. Any idea of what I messed up? Thanks in advance. -Ron tower-diagnostics-20170803-1522.zip
  3. Interesting, and accurate, observations. Unmenu works perfectly on the same subnet as the UNraid box. It is possible some crazy stuff is happening on the switches here at work. Excellent work, and thanks for the help!
  4. What OS are you running? PC? or MAC OS? Where did you get the unMENU files from? How did you install them? What happens when you click on a link that does not work? Joe L. I think I may have found a problem. I see that "smartctl: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory" at the console. I found some references to installing it through the package manager, but none of the subpages work. I get page cannot be displayed. I am using Windows 7 x64 and Server 2003 x32 with IE8 and the latest Firefox. I downloaded the files from the Google Code link. I followed the instructions in this post. The files were unzipped and placed in the /boot/unmenu folder. I start unmenu by going to /boot/unmenu and entering uu, Thanks for you help on this.
  5. Forgive me if I have missed the solution to this. I have install unmenu on 4.4.2 and 4.5 beta 11. I get the same result on each. The top three boxes Array Status, Array Disk Status and UNRAID drive show. However, anything below that is just an IE or Firefox page cannot be displayed error. None of the links work either. Am I missing a setting I was supposed to change?
  6. I do not believe that VMware Server 2.0 supports any of the new CPU based extensions for virtualization. I think that has only made it's way in to the ESX line. CPU choice is about what you want to do. You listed transcoding as a task you would like to perform. I believe this task will scale with what it is given. So a faster host CPU will give the guest faster transcode times. A good option is run this box with only one vCPU assigned, so it does not take away from your mail and unRAID functions. Keep in mind that most VMs are just replacing boxes that have low utilization anyway. I run pyTivo at home on an old P4 2.4Ghz box with 2Gigs of RAM. I can have a single CPU with 384Megs of RAM XP guest transcode video fast enough to convert, from almost any format to Tivo compliant MPEG, faster than real time. This is while running the host OS and a Server 2003 DC. Guest performance is good even with only one real CPU to share.
  7. One other thing that could use documentation is the upgrade process. Once you have your install, what do you need to do to upgrade to the latest unRAID version?
  8. Questions about questions: Would you like to make this stuff the install script for this package and remove the symbolic links ([y]es, [n]o)? This seems like a yes to me - Would you like to reset all directory permissions to 755 (drwxr-xr-x) and directory ownerships to root.root ([y]es, [n]o)? This one I am not so sure about
  9. The current version looks to be 12.1, but the kernel is then upgraded to 2.6.27.7. 2.6.27.7 is the standard kernel for 12.2. I would bet that is why the wiki says 12.2 for 4.4, but that would be wrong.
  10. The community, and specifically the members mentioned, were the reason I felt safe with unRAID. An amazing community of mutual support has built up around this product, and I believe that is a major reason for its success. Thanks for all the help in the past, and I am sure, in the future!
  11. It is my understanding that unRAID does not support multiple processors. If that is true, how useful is running VMware Server on it? My current linux VMware Server is a two way, and I would like to consolidate that on to my unRAID server. One less running computer is always nice.
  12. I have not tried setting it up in my unRaid box. However, I have it running on my Ubunutu server, and pointing at my user shares. The problem with my approach is that the symbolic links go stale. Once that happens pyTivo is useless. I too would like to try this, if anyone with greater skill can figure it out. You need FFMPEG and python.
