  1. I have used Homeseer, Vera and am now on smartthings. I can say I miss my Vera. Net goes out and smartthings goes dead. This was not the problem with my old VeraLite(unfortunately she died). I found Homeseer setup to be a pain, as well as lack of good app support. This was about 3-4 years ago, and I have not tried it since. I love how my Echo integrates with my Smartthings for lights, fans, climate(just temperature unfortunately for now), garage door. I wish Logitech would get off their asses and finish Harmony support though. I find the smart things app horrible compared to the options I had for 3rd party apps with my Vera. Will probably switch back to Vera the next time the new controller goes on sale. May give homeseer a second shot too in the mean time. Lack of smart configuration options on the smart things is the real killer. Need to use their API system and load up all kinds of third party setups in a very non-intuitive manner. I am a tech guy, minor programmer, and still find their system to be convoluted and awful compared to Vera's plugin system. Hope this has helped a bit.
  2. I am redoing my VPS and have come across an issue I cannot seem to fix. I have a few services installed on my VPS like sab, CP, Plex, openvpn-as, as well as UFW for firewall. My firewall setting is in photo attached. My issue is, i tried blocking the openvpn-as port 943 from all but 2 specific IP addresses, yet the admin page on IPaddress:943/admin is accessible to all IP's i have tried it from. Thoughts on what I have done wrong here?
  3. I had this issue and found that removing a couple of plugins which i did not really use anyways alleviated the issue i was having. I am racking my brain to recall which plugins i removed.... IPMI.... and 1 other. If it comes to mind, i will post back here.
  4. Pictures attached. Also to note, i tried the LibreElec template earlier tonight to no avail. Same issue with the no boot.
  5. Updated to 6.2, attempted to install a fresh openelec VM using the unraid default. I get a openelec/kodi boot screen, but it hard crashes. Searching the log in my openelec appdata folder I find this tidbit: 02:11:03 T:140213840799616 ERROR: GLX Error: No Display found 02:11:03 T:140213840799616 FATAL: CApplication::Create: Unable to init windowing system System is with mostly defaults of the template, OVMF, Q35-2.5, 1GB RAM, AMD 6450 graphics card. Diags attached, openelec log attached. I am new to openelec and Kodi, google did not get me far in my search for this issue. Any help appreciated. bigbang-diagnostics-20160915-2220.zip kodi_crashlog_20160916021103.txt
  6. Running whatever latest mineos x64 from the MineOS webpage, minecraft.codeemo.com. I don't run mineos as a docker, just a VM. What game servers you want to run on another VM will determine what OS you can use. I typically run Windows Server 2008R2 because i am familiar with it and have an old copy from technet days.
  7. If you're only talking 2-4 people, then you are fine with e5-2670. Way overkill actually. Multiple VM's would not help the MC instances. I run 1 VM of MineOS and host 4-5 active servers off it alone, giving it 6 cores and a ton of RAM.
  8. What games are you looking to host. Many game servers are not multithreaded at all, so single core CPU speed is king. I run a couple of Minecraft servers off of my e5-2670 system, but mostly keep low demanding MC servers there. I have an e3-1275 running my two high population/demanding MC servers. The e5's just could not keep up.
  9. I have been under the understanding that the host needs a graphics adapter, regardless of whether or not you will have a monitor plugged in and use it. Things have changed quickly in the past couple of years though, so my information may be out dated. I tried a quick search and did not come up with a definitive to help you out, sorry! My mobo has a built in crappy adapter, so my cards pass through with no problems.
  10. Anyone using any 2, 3 or 4 in 1 5.25 SSD cages? Looking for at least a 2x1, not sure what people are using and having luck with.
  11. Wonder if that router is overkill as a range extender....
  12. I am getting the issue with some Dockers showing update status of "not available". Recreated docker image after updating to rc4. Diags posted just in case. Dockers in question with issue are Plex, OpenVPN-AS, Headphones and Plexpy. Was getting this issue on RC3 as well. bigbang-diagnostics-20160831-2246.zip
  13. It's still a mystery how you were able to get your on-board audio to passthrough to a VM in 6.2-rc3. I bet if you change your assigned Sound Card to None (or the GPU HDMI) you'll be able to start your VM. The few Skylake device listings I saw now group the on-board audio with the memory controller and smbus making it just about impossible to passthrough to a VM. I don't even think enabling ACS override setting (Advanced setting on the VM Settings page) would help break apart the IOMMU group the audio device sits in because it's setup as a separate 'function' on the ISA bus device instead of it being a separate device altogether. Not sure what Intel was thinking... Sorry if I am interjecting here without seeing the full story, but I was running RC3 with 2 windows VM's running, with successful HDMI video/audio passthrough. Running RC4 now with the same successful setup. I did have an issue on both upgrades where 1 VM would not start(different VM each time). I fixed by unassigning the video card, starting VM, stopping VM, reassigning the video card.
  14. I have switched from a Netgear R7000 as my router to pfSense. The Netgear is currently serving as an access point, though is quite overkill for what I am asking of it. Can anyone suggest to me any good access points they have had luck with? Optimally I would love for the to be PoE powered. Looking to get a couple to get rid of some dead spots and serve up internet to my fire pit area of the back yard.
  15. Having been through Zoneminder, a couple of dedicated boxes systems, and Blue Iris, I advise installing Blue Iris. Inexpensive software, and really, really great. Have mine installed on Windows Server VM.
  16. That is what I do, and it works very well.
  17. I do still have it. Want all of it or certain pieces?
  18. A follow up here after hours of trying to figure things out.... I reloaded pfSense and all of my rules were working. I don't know what the issue actually was, as I was "applying" the rule changes every change. It took the reload to make things work. Now, any changes I make/add/remove work via "applying". At least its working! Now heres to hoping we come out of RC required internet access soon, so if I ever need to reboot I can do so withing swapping in my old router temporarily.
  19. Looking for some assistance here with configuring my pfSense VM. Installed 2.3, got basic setup all working well and all PC's are pulling DHCP and have connection to internet. Trying to forward a couple of ports to a couple of my VM's and am not seeming to get anywhere. Can anyone share info on how to properly forward ports on pfSense in a VM on unRaid, to VM's and/or dockers within unRaid? Setup is a dual port intel NIC passed through to the pfSense VM.
  20. Thoughts on hardware for a modern pfsense box? I know use case will drive hardware, just curious to your setup. I have been looking to build my own box, planning to tinker in a VM before deciding to dedicate a box to it.
  21. Purchased for the sole purpose of getting my VM access nice and easy.
  22. I did indeed try setting PCIe slots to gen 1, 2, 3 and auto. No dice. Going to send her back and find an alternative! Thanks all.
  23. An incredibly interesting update: Since removing IPMI plugin, my system maintains many GB of free RAM. Before, I would always have ~30-35GB used, and the rest cached, with only a couple hundred "free". Now I have anywhere from 5-15GB free at a time.
