  1. Surely must be worth exploring. Having had a look at the docker site it seems to need some stuff enabling in the kernel. I'm not sure which, if any, are already enabled in the v6 kernels. I wonder if those options could be enabled - that way people could investigate independently whether docker is a viable proposition. Especiialy whilst v6 is in beta phase, having the options enabled in the kernel config can't hurt too much can it? NOt sure anymore if docker is even a good possibility with unraid what i understand from docker is that it makes a snapshot of your OS and then uses that to install your app now a snapshot of unraid still doesn't have a package manager so it would depend again on plugin developpers or can you run an ubuntu os in a dock with unraid as the main os ?
  2. [GUIDE] Virtualizing unRAID in XenServer 6.2 - Updated to 5.0.4 Yes. LOL my fault ... not natively English speaking i was under the impression he managed to get a vm running in unraid 6.0 but after rereading it became clear he setup xen and is running unraid as a guest Oh well waiting for the next Beta to get ubuntu vm running with plugins
  3. You have a link to that manual how you installed this ? and without a network bridge ? are you using a gui to manage the vm's ?
  4. Yep, that's the mass market for this type of device. Only way that will happen is when Tom moves away from slack if he makes unraid on ubuntu for example which has a package manager then all your problems will go away Even with Trolley which is a nice effort from nicna , slackware is just not meant to deal with dependencies see the thread here http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=29641.msg286938#msg286938 only other option is that Tom hires a guy to make plugins and opens a plugin shop till then you depend on the goodwill of the community here to help you out with a plugin
  5. bonienl what causes my parity check speed to half when i open the dynamix webpage ? this is from unmenu without dynamix page open this is same server a few minutes later from dynamix page From unmenu with dynamix page open once i close the dynamix page again he goes back to round 70 mb weird things in top is also with dynamix open without dynamix open For the fun of it i opened dynamix with refresh disabled and higher speeds again but not as high as without the page open then tried with passive refresh which was more or less same as disabled So something in your refresh algorithm is killing our speed any clue what it can be? can you solve it ? I don't remember SF having the issue ... Oh Yeah this is with all plugins (plex / crashplan/ mysql/ couch/headphones/...) disabled except from the dynamix streams/ health /system info, system stats and plugin control which are installed, as i inittially suspected a plugin to cause the high top values so i started with disabling these ....
  6. HI Bonienl, for the webserver we need Tom making a beta 3 ? was interested in the webserver to run webvirt manager to have a GUI to make VM's but seems there are a few things more missing
  7. not sure what it means ....not used to KVM so doing everything with the help of google how to's also how are we supposed to make changes to /etc/libvert/libvertd.conf stick ? was hoping to get a test vm running .... but seems my google fu is coming up short libtasn1 is missing from build, added for -beta2 Thanks Tom anyway to get the /etc/libvirt/qemu.conf /etc/libvirt/libvirtd.conf /etc/libvirt/lxc.conf /etc/libvirt/libvirt.conf hardlinked to a folder on boot so we can make changes that stick ? or you prefer us to work around that (Sed)?
  8. Not sure where to put this .... in this thread or make a new one in the virtualization board but we are missing something to make libvirt work not sure what it means ....not used to KVM so doing everything with the help of google how to's also how are we supposed to make changes to /etc/libvert/libvertd.conf stick ? was hoping to get a test vm running .... but seems my google fu is coming up short
  9. i thought the goal here was to not run plugins in unraid anymore? to have something like docker or run a VM with the plugins i see libvirt and qemu are installed so normally all what we would need is some gui to start installing something like ubuntu or windows in a vm and run all plugins from there ? that would be my vote ? this dockers is intreaging me as it is cool but without lxc this will not run
  10. hi Tom, a few observations no more /boot/plugins folder ? you moved the gui again to /boot/config/plugins no /boot/packages does that mean that if we make these folders that the new 64 bit unraid will not install anything from these folders ? guess to get KVM / libvirt and virt manager installed that the easiest way would be to dump them in /boot/packages but if that doesn't work any more then we will need to spam the go file again ? oh libvirt and qemu are installed already.... ooops gonna need to find another how to LOL
  11. Hi Bonienl i have found a few shortcommings due to the dynamix gui while swapping out my cache disk 1. there is no refresh button any more so we always need a reboot to get the new disk in our dropdown list before i could kind of hotswap a disk by just stopping the array remove a disk put another disk hit the refresh button and assign the new disk this is not possible anymore as there is no refresh button so i had to reboot to see the new disk 2. it is hard to see due to the tabbed ifrastructure which disk is not formatted you have to go back through all tabs to be sure the format disk will not format a wrong disk (you never know you did something wrong) this is in fact a shortcomming of the original gui too it should tell you which disk it will format but with the tabbed infrastructure now it asks more clicks to verify Please accept this as constructive comments .. just to make things better
  12. Reboot your system and there will be a new tab with the unplugged plugins didn't figure out a way yet to show those back after installing the first time with installplg
  13. would this allow for Plex home theater player to be installed too ? it would save me a computer :{ as one of my unraid's sits under the tv anyway ... he has a onboard intel HDMI connection
  14. none of us speak dutch we speak vlaams (Flemish) ... Beire looking at his nick is Flemish... orbi could be latin orbi et urbi ... this is coming from an Antwerpenaar living in Thailand
  15. use a download manager then it works fine flashget is free to use
  16. i had the same issue... as finka used a download manager to get the complete download (flashget)
  17. well no weird behavior for me so far He turned succesfully off at 01:30 AM with Cron (first time in months ) i looked through the syslog and all seems fine For me this is a winner
  18. The easiest way is to rename your original powerdown-1.02-noarch-unRAID.tgz to powerdown-1.02-noarch-unRAID.bak and rename the new one powerdown-1.04-noarch-unRAID.tg to powerdown-1.02-noarch-unRAID.tgz and copy over to your unraid Once it is proven to work we can ask Joe to upgrade the package in unmenu
  19. Man, I just came on here to report this. I noticed the issue when I had a power outage a couple of weeks ago. Apcupsd called the powerdown script. The array was stopped, but the server never turned off. I did some further testing last night. The powerdown script only kills active pid's for the data drives and then unmounts them. The shutdown command says it is halting the system but fails. It doesn't stop or kill any other plugins that may be accessing the cache drive. When I try to shut down through the new gui, it first stops (not kill) all plugins running, including virtualbox (I guess it uses the stop option on all rc.X present), then stops the array. When I click shutdown, it successfully shuts it down. I am wondering what scripts the new gui uses for shutdown because it is very clean and whether I can tie those to the apcupsd plugin This is exactly what i am seeing.. and try to explain for months SirG let me know if i need to test
  20. 1.0.3 still doesn't shut down my computer i find it very weird because with this powerdown script or unraid somehow unmount its disks without stopping the programs like couchpotato and so on or it first stops them unmounts the disks and then restarts the programs fact is that with this script the disks unmount.... but the server never powers down .... if i push stop in the gui then the programs stop... disks unmount and the programs never restart ... until i press start again.... also pushing the powerdown button in the gui stops the server as expected ..... 2 syslogs attached syslog.zip is stoped the server by pushing stop... wait for the disks to unmount and then powerdown in the gui syslog07112013.zip contains 2 logs - syslog-sbin.powerdown.txt is after cron invoked /sbin/powerdown with the 1.0.3 powerdown script installed - syslog-sbin.poweroff is after a few minutes when the server won't shut down then i just invoked /sbin/poweroff in the CLI as the disks were unmounted .... logs.zip
  21. [me=sacretagent]wonders if i am the only one in Thailand [/me]
  22. i can test too mine is snot shutting down now anyway with the 1.02 version just installed 1.03 will see at 00:30 is he shuts down tonight
  23. great job as usual I had it running standard version so all i did is rename may smb-extra.conf file installplg /boot/config/plugins/vfs_recycle_unplugged.plg and enabled it in config page
  24. It is open for anyone to change, have at it. That was the whole point of putting it out on GitHub Well the expectation was that we would have SF compatible gui after speeding ant agreed with tom to use his general idea .... but we are left in the cold again .... Pretty much sure it is all about the little incident that happened with Joe and boniel which made boniel leave the forum and now we are left in the cold due to some bruised ego's Not even sure if Speeding ant even can modify the existing sf templates since boniel was the guy releasing the great stuff in SF... Anyway end result is the same a lot of users are left in the cold ... which shouldn't happen at a release that people pay for ... like i said before Tom should have hired a web guy instead of a sales rep ... my 0.2 Cents how i think this story is going...
