  1. edgarwallace can you confirm that plain unmenu works ? i understand that some of the packages would cause issues and that's why you had to comment the auto install line but unmenu works normal and still has all info ? i know it might sound crazy but it is one of the things i couldn't do without so if it works then i can try to upgrade tomorrow
  2. My flashdisk is wearing out overwriting my preclear script with all these new versions. :D :D I was thinking same downloaded 3 in last weeks and didn't use one yet LOL waiting for beta 4 now to see if there are not too many issues and then to jump to the new beta and then finally preclear my new 2tb drive with AF
  3. - driver: preliminary changes to support large (>2TB) hard drives [various 32-bit vars changed to 64-bit]. Does this mean 3TB drives are supported now ? or you want us to test ? or we shouldn't try as other parts are not ready yet ? just asking as i was intending to start using bigger drives ....
  4. from telnet mkdir /boot/smarthistory instructions are in the thread in the customizations forum
  5. hidden internal 3.5 bays to put more drives 22 is the max drives for the moment for unraid so we are short one
  6. make it work that if temp too high .. activate airco
  7. Nice but not much pics on that site ... so from the first glance 21 drives ? would be downloading the manual to see if there are hidden bays but none available
  8. he would better make true to his promises instead of making new websites LOL he said the new flexraid would be out in January we are second week of February and as far as i know no explanation as to why i had flexraid running for exactly 5 hours or so.. but it was just too complex to easily run i am sticking with Unraid ... much stabler and great community
  9. aha ... you can push the top slot out ? i don't need to saw it out ? i thought it was fixed in the plastic .... hope my icute arrives tomorrow as predicted
  10. HI It does but with some work :0 you need to remove the rivets for the top remove the 5.25 to 3.5 brackets on the top slot and saw out the plastik around the 3.5 diskette drive hole it is all fairly easy to .... just needs a bit of patience and some tools
  11. quick look at the case says me maximum 11 disks without fancy things but there is not much cooling for them provided in the case so i think you will first need to add a fan in the front to cool the 6 x 3.5 bays then 2 x 3.5 will have no or very limited air flow as there is no possibility for a fan and 4 x 5.25 bays which with 5 in 3s fills up and leaves you with one bay left... so it will never host the max of your motherboard powersupply has also 2 12v rails so is not optimal for many disks
  12. yep it would motherboard would be expandable to max. 16 drives if the x16 slot will take a sas/sata controller cpu is maybe a bit overkill depending what you want to do with it ... powersupply and case will need upgrade once you are thinking of getting more then 6 disks but the deal seems OK
  13. from your manual you should have bought one of these SATA2 Serial ATA II PCI-Express RAID Controller Card (Silicon Image SIL3132 or jmb363 chip based) the SIL3132 you can find at monoprice http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=104&cp_id=10407&cs_id=1040702&p_id=2530&seq=1&format=2 and i see them on ebay also regulary... the JMB363 is easy to find on EBAY there is a thread in the good deals forum where they are available for 8 us$ they fit in the PCIE X1 slot
  14. if you let is know what Mobo you are using then we might give you more info but as Joe L. already said ... if the pci bus is shared then you might see these things happening
  15. I have been keeping an eye on the release post of the 5 beta 3 and so far i see a. people with IDE drives having problems b. some small issues with AFP and time machine c. some small issues with sharenames with a space in it messing up the size showing at the gui d. Some isues with SAS drives not showing up e. Small unmenu issues which Joe l. Already adressed f. Some added applications may not work due to udev issue's guess that sums it more or less up... now what i would like to know:) what about the AF drives ? everything same as the 4.7 release? i mean i have 3 EARS 1 TB drives with NO jumper ... precleared as normal disks (old preclear script about 2 months ago) 6 EADS/EACS 1 TB drives 2 Hitachi 7200rpm 1tb Drives 1 Samsung 500GB cache drive ALL SATA drives so i could jut upgrade to 5B3 or 5B4 without having issues ? the EARS will just continue to function as before ? when i buy new 2TB EARS drives i can add them precleared as AF drives ? or do i first need to clear the 3 existing drives and reformat them to AF ? thanks in advance for clearing my doubts
  16. What is the specific controller card you're using? It appears like you have 8 hard drives, are they all attached to the LSI card? Of the 8 drives, looks like 6 are SATA, are the other 2 SCSI? In other words, I'm asking what drives you have and what ports are they connected to. Yes, 8 random drives in this test machine, connected to a 1068e (6 drives) and 1064e (2 drives) card. Two of the drives on the 1068e are SAS, the others are SATA. Ahh, ok. The two SAS drives show up as: 35000cca009414c54 and 35000cca00940c8f Is that correct? What actual hard drive model are these? Can you correlate those strings with anything like the drive model number? I'm guessing "0094xxxx" are the serial numbers? Sorry for the questions, I haven't tried to use actual SAS drives (just SATA drives connected to SAS controller) - and wondering if it's worthwhile to support SAS drives Hi Tom, i would continue the support for sas drives if it is not a big issue to add the code it might be interesting for the people who buy like low end enterprise servers from HP or Dell which has SAS drives and don't have the $$ to go into dedicated storage solutions ... might be a market there edited as my responding ended up in the above quote
  17. "mc" has been a part of unRAID for a very long time. No need to install anything to use it. i saw it in the unmenu package manager so i assumed it was not on the earlier versions Never used the 4 series... i started with 4.6 to see how unraid worked and since the 5 beta2 was out i also tested that one and i like the gui better so i stuck with it anyway thx for the correction ...
  18. telnet in and use the mv command http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mv or use the MC commander which i build into the 5 series or install unmenu and add the mc package
  19. I have about 500 10 bath coins .. would i have enough ? or do i need to fill some more piggie's ?
  20. ALL unix blends are case sensitive difference between a small and capital letter in some commands can really screw you up
  21. hi the copy from cache to the array is done with Rsync and as far as i know that uses "verify" technology with md hash verification see this wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rsync
  22. yeah looking forward for these coming out too want to make a htpc with a ssd with one of these puppies
  23. i can advice you to read a bit about these samsung and other dnla programs.. most of them are SLOW ...not playing 1080p and most of the time most users have a lot of problems with them... i was also looking into this and decided to go htpc way ... for the moment running xbmc that i hacked a bit to fullfill my needs ... soon i will go for a small box with an atom base motherboard and ssd drive to put under the tv and use the old box for the kid
  24. if you add what you are using then we can advice you but in the quoted post is not eough information basicly your last line should be something like this python /Path/to/your/servers/SickBeard.py -d maybe with Quotes around them
  25. I have user level security and no problem with root running the python servers. It is only an issue in 5 series i think :0 different way of setting things up... i never tried the 4 series so i am not sure but i read something like that in the release notes
