  1. you have a link for these x case 5 in 3's? hope they are cheaper and maybe easier available here in asia
  2. So got a few hours spare time today and decided to pull out the current video card to give space for a bigger sas/sata controller and install the old PCI video card meanwhile my esata to sata cable also arrived so finally all my drives are in the case no more docking station on top of the machine although this should have been like 20 minutes work, it went a bit sideways when after replacing the videocard and move the drives a bit around to put the hitachi's all in the 4 in 3 enclosure (they stay cooler there) when the unraid decided to not let me in remotely could get into the console but no matter what i tried from the console i couldn't connect remotely(no GUI.. NO telnet)... could ping my laptop and other computers on my network though... so a network issue was ruled out quickly so had to start some more intensive troubleshooting... now last reboot was like 8 days ago and i had still in mind what i added this week ... so i unplugged the flash drive added it to my laptop and first commented out the cache_dirs script put back the flash drive ... rebooted and same issue so went on for a while with a few other things ... till i remembered i had some issues with the mysql install so reverted that by deleting all mysql file in the packages folder EXCEPT from the conf file and HURAAY the thing booted completely and i could access my machine trough GUI to put the drives back onto their place in the unraid menu and start the array all by all i just wanted to say ... when you tinker at the machine ... write down what you did .. makes things easier to go back to and keep an original GO backup somewhere ... This weekend i hope to find the time to or find a few cheap 5 in3's or ask my father in law to make me the diy 5 in 3's LOL he is handy with hardware ... he has the tools .. i already stripped the icute down to the bare metal ... and popped the rivets from the top to remove the 3.5" brackets ... will also saw out the plastic on top so that a 5 in 3 can be placed from the top slot...
  3. update it is still doing it ... mover starts running and a few minutes later i get these in my terminal Try `grep --help' for more information. head: cannot open `/ver/run/mover.pid' for reading: No such file or directory Usage: grep [OPTION]... 4. Joe . Before you start troubleshooting your script ... give me a few days (will be out of town again this weekend ) to check if it was not the mysql who caused it ... i just upgraded my box with a few things and he first didn't want to come up started to troubleshoot by reverting back what i installed changed since last reboot once i reverted the auto install from the mysql did i get back into the server will see what the cache_dirs does now without mysql installed might try to reinstall mysql next week
  5. still have same issue even with that command that you specified above what i find worrysome is the amount of processes i open ? 7809 pts/1 S 0:00 /bin/bash /boot/cache_dirs -d 4 -m 3 -M 5 -p 200 -e . 7810 pts/1 S 0:00 /bin/bash /boot/cache_dirs -d 4 -m 3 -M 5 -p 200 -e . 7812 pts/1 S 0:00 /bin/bash /boot/cache_dirs -d 4 -m 3 -M 5 -p 200 -e . 7813 pts/1 S 0:00 /bin/bash /boot/cache_dirs -d 4 -m 3 -M 5 -p 200 -e . 7814 pts/1 S 0:00 /bin/bash /boot/cache_dirs -d 4 -m 3 -M 5 -p 200 -e . 7815 pts/1 S 0:00 /bin/bash /boot/cache_dirs -d 4 -m 3 -M 5 -p 200 -e . 7816 pts/1 S 0:00 /bin/bash /boot/cache_dirs -d 4 -m 3 -M 5 -p 200 -e . 7818 pts/1 S 0:00 /bin/bash /boot/cache_dirs -d 4 -m 3 -M 5 -p 200 -e . 7819 pts/1 S 0:00 /bin/bash /boot/cache_dirs -d 4 -m 3 -M 5 -p 200 -e . 7820 pts/1 S 0:00 /bin/bash /boot/cache_dirs -d 4 -m 3 -M 5 -p 200 -e . 7821 pts/1 S 0:00 /bin/bash /boot/cache_dirs -d 4 -m 3 -M 5 -p 200 -e . 7859 pts/1 S 0:49 /bin/bash /boot/cache_dirs -d 4 -m 3 -M 5 -p 200 or is this normal ? if i put cache dirs off then i don't have this... and it seems only to log these messages when the mover is running i have my mover set to run every 6 hours..
  6. i have a p5b-plus vista running with unraid ... this mobo is close to the deluxe been stable so far... still looking for an hba for the 16x pcie slot
  7. hi Joe, is this normal ? 8. you have cache_dirs running ? if yes... then i think you are caching a bit tooo much and your machine is running out of memory if no... swap enabled ? any corruption on your swap file? check your logs for any problem with the disk where the swap file is on ? Else... wait till a more experienced user gives comment on that screenshot
  9. then i asume it will be the disk giving you problems... I have seen other people on the forums who achieve 65+ speeds to the cache drive so i am not the only one try to exchange your cache drive for another one and see if it get better... you are sure you enabled the cache drive for all your usershares ? otherwise you would be writing to your array directly and still then 10mb/s would be slow ... i write between 30 and 40mb's straight to my array ...
  10. i have an old samsung 500 GB as cache drive can write to it at +70mb/s from my gig network if you have another drive laying around i would try to see if that goes better... is the cache drive on a port on the mobo ? or is it on a pci bus ?
  11. HI, got today the icute 18 aka sharkoon 12 in my hands here in Thailand and for only 2900 bath :0 gonna copy your build but with hotswap cages .... and my current other hardware just might take some time to get the 4 times 5 in 3 hDD cages as they are expencive here in Thailand (6350 bath for ICYDOCK MB455SPF-B) still looking for a cheaper brand .... will need to saw out the plastic on top though ... to put a 5 in 3 anyway happy i got the big case now will take pictures while building
  12. Pardon my ignorance, how do you get 24 HDs with six SATA ports? I was looking at a ASRock board as well, but I didn't really like the idea of only 5 SATA connectors HI Ming with the help of 2 x 8 port Supermicro AOC-SASLP-MV8 's in the x 16 and the x 4 slots and 2 extra ports on the x 1 slot (SIL3132 based adapter) 5 sata 1 e-asata 8 Supermicro AOC-SASLP-MV8 8 Supermicro AOC-SASLP-MV8 2 adaptec or SIL3132 ___ 24 sata ports without touching the SLOW normal PCI slot
  13. for people in Thailand iCute Super 18 11 Bay Full Tower (aka Sharkoon 12) http://www.tkcom99.com/product_detail.php?p_id=610&is_product=Y&s_type_id=1&s_cat_id=131 and for a sweet price of 2900 bath (devide by 32 or so for us$) i ordered one
  14. HI all, just wanted to know if somebody has this puppy in his unraid and if there are any known issues with it ? TYAN P3208SR, LSI 1068E • Low-cost, low-profile RAID 5 solution for use with both SATAII and/or SAS drives • Up to 8 SAS or SATAII devices; supports different disk interfaces in the same array • RAID levels 0, 1, 5 and 10 • Fast initialization for quick array setup • Automatic rebuild of hot spare drives • Automatic resume during array rebuild Bus Interface PCI-E x4 RAID Controller LSI 1068E Memory no HDD interface 2xSFF8087 Max. HDD 8xSAS/SATA2 I can buy him relatively cheap here in Thailand as to the supermicro i have not found it yet here
  15. if you go through the "pimp your rig" thread in the ucd subforum than you will see that a few people made their own 5 in 3's not hotplug though ... but since unraid doesn't support hotplug anyway ... it might be a cheaper solution if you are handy with a piece of aluminium and a drill and then you will not have to bend any tabs http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=2031.msg32083#msg32083 of course replacing a drive can be a bit more cumbersome ... so all depends what you want to pay for i bought a cheap 4 in 3 last month and now i will be obliged to buy a more expensive 5 in 3 from icy dock as the cheaper brand has no 5 in 3's here in the shops in Pantip Plaza Thailand but i find it wurth it when you need to replace a drive you don't need to open the case any more ....
  16. As far as i know MOST cases need some flattening of the tips to support 5 in 3 cages i have a NZXT case and that one is a bit of an exception as the rails are in plastic and i can glide them out ... which is handy i hope when i buy my first 5 in 3 end of next week you just need to look if you want a 9 bay case that there is no sideways 3.5" bays in the case already ... or if there are 4 in 3's in the lower bays that they are removable... coolermasters are all removable as far as i know .... the lian-li pc80 also ... but both need flattening of the tips ... c clamp was found as the easiest alternative ... but a lot of the people used flat screwdrivers and hammers and some cut with a dremel i will shoot some pictures when i add the 5 in 3 into my nzxt case
  17. yep seems DNS is wrong... should be same as your router or the dns servers ip that your ISP gave you poor unraid can not resolve the ip addresses he need to access the web
  18. i have SAB/Couchpotato and sickbeard running from the cache drive all other drives spin down as expected after 30 minutes (i changed the setting to 30 minutes) only cache drive keeps on humming
  19. i have it installed as i thought it might help with couchpotato or SAb but till now i never seen it been used in top and i have only 3gb ram in my server so i guess that it won't help for you too... might be that our experts have a better answer
  20. yep case with potential i count 20 drives possible without adding something above the powersupply and i think you can add there easily a 4 in 3 hdd cage (coolermaster or something similar) 8 on the side 2 in the 3.5" bay in the front and 10 in 2 time "5 in 3" in the 6 5.25 bays another case that goes in my local search list ...
  21. HI From your syslog there is a problem with the filesystem for disk 7 and 9 i would run the check disk procedure as descibed here http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php?title=Check_Disk_Filesystems
  22. biggest problem is that the downloaded files are ending up wit root permissions and you need to run a chmod/chown script against it to access them for me this is the only real reason... i see in every linux forum everybody saying not to run things as root and I know a few programs out there will not run as root for some security reason.... but i also have no idea what could be the real issue... I am not a hacker and have no intentions to become one so no idea where the panic is all about ...
  23. running it on my cache drive... and he will never sleep i am affraid sab downloads every month a lot of files for me till now always has a queue from about 200 files LOL
  24. well i decided to test it anyway ... rebooted the server over vpn and crossed fingers that he would come up... and he did with SAB and couchpotato running from boot
