  1. Thanks for the quick reply. I actually don't mind having them, just wanted to make sure that was normal. Thanks!
  2. finally got around to upgrading my 4.7 to 5.0.6 and everything went just fine. However, I now have a share for each drive as well as the Shares I created. Is this normal for 5.0.x? Before upgrade my shares were: DVD Photos BluRay Music Misc Backup Now I have extra shares, which are functional: Disc1 Disc2 ... Disc12
  3. Today I noticed that my unmenu is no longer working. I SSH to the box and try to restart it and it all seems to be gone! When I hit my unMenu in a browser I see this: e </BODY></HTML> 0 That's it. So I try to re-install unmenu and discover that I can not write any files to /boot. It fact, I've gotten a message that it was FULL. Another message said "cp: cannot create regular file `/boot/unmenu/unmenu_install': Input/output error" I also see NOTHING in the /boot menu. I fear that my flash drive has taken a crap which means surely my box won't reboot. Might this be true and if so, what do I need to extract from this running box before I attempt a reboot and possibly replace the flash drive? Thanks in advance, this community has always come through with great advice. Mike
  4. At this point it seems like it was the wireless router that was further up the chain. Seems odd that the router would make just a single machine on the network fall off the network periodically, especially as there were no changes or additions to devices that might have caused a conflict, but I swapped out the router and for two days now all is well. I'm going to consider this closed.
  5. So I thought the problem was solved when I swapped out the switch for a new one but 24 hours later, the same. Here's the odd thing. If I am on the box itself, I can wget and ping and and the box seems fine. Most of the time I can even ping the box from the outside, but then it drops off the network from the outside. None of the other machines on the network can see it. But if I access the box at console, it acts fine. I can ping out and I can wget . I've swapped out the switch and put a brand new Intel NIC card, the original NIC was on-board. I suspect that possibly one of the drives is preventing outside boxes from seeing the shares but all drives appear OK and pass Smart tests. Outside of replacing all of the hardware, I'm not sure how to troubleshoot this. The box is a 24 bay supermicro and I'd hate to have to start replacing parts of it. I have 12 total drives in the box. Thanks
  6. Turns out is IS a network issue at the switch level. Other devices could see the unRAID server. The server and unRAID remain their integrity of being a solid performer
  7. I have an UnRaid box that has been running for about 2 years, non-stop, without fail. In the past few days the box has become non-responsive to the point where I have to pull the plug. I threw a display on the box to watch it boot and it re-boots, things come back up, I hit the admin and it doesn't even need to re-build parity (because all drives were spun down at reboot?). So I start to copy more content to the box and after the copy is done, it hangs. Captured the syslog and while I do seem to see some odd messages, I don't know if I need to be concerned. Might someone be able to look at this log and see if I have a pending hardware issue? I've rebooted the switch it's attached so that's why you see the network alerts. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1lOEu4BPnVE4fPMtEHf8IwHJ_5jKRWLIHe-blkOv5ANM/edit?usp=sharing Thanks!
  8. I have a slightly used Supermicro AOC-SASLP-MV8 with a full size bracket for sale. If I can find a low profile bracket I will include that as well. I'll include TWO 8087 cables so you can plug 8 SATA drives into it. I was using it without fail in my unRAID box for about 6 months until I got a new 24 bay Supermicro case that came with the cards to run all 24 drives. Accept Paypal or check for payment. PM me if interested. Thanks!
  9. If you have or can open a business account at Newegg, you can still order the 3TB. Limit one. Just snagged a 3TB and three 2TB drives.
  10. These are the tiny flat faced screws you need to screw your hard drives to the drive rails for the Supermicro 24 bay cases that TAMS was selling a while back. I had a hell of a time finding these screws and ended up buying two when I did - not sure why. You also get a strip of stickers you can put on the fronts to label your drives. I'd like to ship to the US only as I have had issues shipping outside the US. $15 gets them delivered to your door.
  11. For what it's worth, Sam, I had a similar problem over a year ago where I was getting random errors, random power downs and went through the mode of testing everything. At the end if it all it was the motherboard. I bought a new motherboard/cpu and used the old power supply and memory. Moved everything over, powered on, re-assigned drives and ran a partiy check. Everything has been perfect since then. Since that, I even moved my drives AGAIN to a new 24 bay system that already had hardware in it. Dropped in drives and booted up. Sometimes it would boot and sometimes it would get stuck at the loading BIZROOT. That time it was the RAM. Pulled two chips out (there were 4 x 1GB in there) and ever since then not a single issue. Bottom line - The data is most likely intact and fine. Unraid will work on a wide array of hardware but I'd recommend go with something that has been tested by the community if you replace the mobo.

  13. Ah, interesting. I have three fobs with unRAID on it and I wonder if that one never got the new clear script. I am running 4.7. I cleared them on a mobo that I know doesn't create the HPA as I have checked previously. I also have cleared 12 other drives on that same mobo so I know that's not the issue. The drive did however come from a DIFFERENT system that I can not say with any certainty didn't put that partition on there. I posted it's own thread as to my plan of attack to fix which basically would be remove the drives one at a time, remove the HPA, re-clear and add back. Rinse, repeat until all drives have been fixed.
  14. I killed the pre-clear reports as each finished. That report was from the last drive. that was in the preclear_reports folder. I suspect it was because there was HPA on the drives and am going to re-clear them after removing the HPA. Posted another post asking advice on my "fix" as I figured I have a different issue now. Thanks for your reply here.
