  2. I post the zip... I look inside the logs, but dont says anything wrong about ssh.. because that i post the zip and a photo of the SSH error on console at start unraid-diagnostics-20200422-0104.zip
  3. Hi In my box SSH works previously, but now isn't working. I check this thread to find a solution: but doesn't work. I check the key files and these are 0 bytes. Try the solution (delete key files and reboot) from this thread and didn't work. After the reboot in the unraid log says "key load public invalid format" about SSH How i can resolve this? Thanks in advance.
  4. Yes.. i checked all the hardware, and the failed HDDs make strange noises (clak, clak). So, the server case was not taken carefully during the move. Not problem with the redo of the parity check, i expect that to have a healthy array. Thanks for the response.

Hi I search in the forums, but i can't find that situation clearly, so.. i begin with my question I recently moved to a new house and my unraid server was the last thing that i need to take attention. First family needs.. After months, now i take the time to look at my good old server, and when i turn it on 3 of 12 disks fails.. after the initial shock, the 3 disks that failed has no vital info. So.. i want to make a new array with the remaining 9 disks (including the healthy parity disc), but don't want to wipe the data from the previous array. No format or preclear. Only take the info previously stored on the disks and do a new data for the parity disk. My unraid version is 6.1.9, and the 9 disks are ReiserFS. Is a way to make a new array with loosing the data previously stored in the HDDs?, the disks were used previously on Unraid, with all that needs (partitions, preclear, etc). I don't have budget to build new disks and make the movement from the old disks to new disks. Thanks in advance.
  6. Hi I do not realize that a parity check was running, and move some files using MC from the Unraid Console. Im moving files from mnt/diskx to mnt/disky, not using the user shares. This is a potential danger to my info? Thanks

  8. Thanks... i use both freenas and unraid for different purposes. I read a lot of warnings with RDM and zfs... but i didn't find anything with unraid. Anyone that is using RDM?
  9. Hi I have 16 disks on a VM on my server with 2 m1015 controllers... all passed with ESXI passthrough... I need to put 4 more disks... not space for more controllers and not budget.. .. so, i will try Physical RDM of the Onboard Ports via de vmkfstools.. I know that passthrough is better because is like the disks were on the VM machine, but i said the restrictions I read lot of warnings about RDM with Freebsd/Freenas and ZFS, because of problems and data lost via RDM... i want to know if someone experienced similar problems in Unraid? I read various post on the forum about how configure RDM... but i cant tell really if there was a real problem or just the recomendation that better use passthrough. If i use RDM with Unraid is a possible danger?, anyone that used RDM and got problems? how much time you use RDM without problems? Thanks EDIT: Sorry.. this topic should be in the Unraid 5 - General Support, an Admin/Mod can move it?
  10. hi itimpi... i do 2 types of test on each HDD 1) Copy from \\unraid\disk1, \\unraid\disk2, etc a bunch of files (selecting large files from each HDD) to a desktop PC via LAN, and the speeds were between 60Mb/s and 100Mb/s on each HDD 2) Run HDPARM -Tt /dev/sdb, /dev/sdc, etc to test read speed, and the speeds are ok what another way you suggest to test the speed on each disks? Syslog is attached on the post, i do not identify any significative errors.. but i'm not expert.. can you check the attach? Thanks for the reply.
  11. Hi My parity check is really slow 25Mb/s, the same disks were in another hardware config and the parity was aprox 100-90Mb/s. I don't know what is the problem... If i test the HDDs in current hardware (copying from them) via disk1, disk2, etc shares to a desktop PC, the speed is between 90Mb/s and 60Mb/s. Details CPU: Core i5 Motherboard: Asus P7P55D-E - http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P7P55DE/ 8 SATA Ports OnBoard - 6 Intel Sata Controller + 2 Marvell Controller PSU: Thermaltake TR2 RX 850w - http://www.thermaltakeusa.com/products-model.aspx?id=C_00001995 Controller: LSI in IT Mode HDDs: 12 2tb Green Disks. Details on the screenshot 8 HDDs attached to the LSI Controller 2 HDDs attached to the Marvel Controller 2 HDDs attached to the Intel Controller Syslog Attached with a parity check previously ran.   12. thanks kal Yes... the problem or worry is the read of a bad sector... i assume that work like that... but is only assumption Anyone have an experience like that? or more light about this subject?
  13. Hi I have a theorical question... I spend 3 hours finding the answer in google, but no luck Scenario: One sector go bad, the sector is reallocated by the HDD to the spare sectors. In some cases the reallocated info is unaltered and other cases in corrupted. I assume work this way. If unaltered i assume that is transparent to the Operating System. The HDD controller read the data, reallocate the sector to a spare sector, write the data in the spare sector, mark the original sector as bad. The application and the Operating System is unaware of this. You only have a SMART value changed. If corrupted, it report something to the Operating System??? NO - You need to check with reiserfsck to detect the file with errors?. Triggered by a suspicion by an SMART Change... is the right path to go? YES - I assume that an error will popup on your application (triggered by the Operating System) and you can act in consequence. Reiserfsck? Or.. need to identify the corrupted file via other method?
