  1. Did I mess something up? Drive is FINE?

That's correct but since you're not running the test from the GUI you need to disable spin down, or SMART test will be interrupted.

Hmmm disk is spun down.. but it seems to be working?

Offline data collection status:0x00OOfflinedatacollection activity was never started.

    Auto Offline Data Collection: Disabled.

Self-test execution status:243Self-test routine in progress...

    30% of test remaining.

  3. This is correct?

=== START OF OFFLINE IMMEDIATE AND SELF-TEST SECTION ===
Sending command: "Execute SMART Extended self-test routine immediately in off-line mode".
Drive command "Execute SMART Extended self-test routine immediately in off-line mode" successful.
    Testing has begun.
Please wait 972 minutes for test to complete.

Just to confirm, I can't see anything on the unraid server.. as in that disk is Spun down

Scrub is used to check data integrity, not the disk, something is corrupting the data, even if the disk is failing it should never return corrupt data, though like mentioned it's happened before, running a SMART extended test is a good idea, alternatively you can also run a parity check (non correct), that will also read the entire disk.

Can I do a parity check on a single disk?

No, it's using the megaraid driver:

01:00.0 RAID bus controller [0104]: Broadcom / LSI MegaRAID SAS 2008 [Falcon] [1000:0073] (rev 03)
        Subsystem: Dell PERC H310 [1028:1f78]
        Kernel driver in use: megaraid_sas
        Kernel modules: megaraid_sas

BTW, I've seen the same controller in raid mode still using the HBA driver (mpt3sas), not sure why sometimes one or the other is used, but that one is using the megaraid driver, SMART might work if you set the correct options, but it would be best to flash the controller to IT mode.

    Thanks for catching that :)
I will fix that up, but trying to figure out the disk issue more so :(

One thought, when I "scrub" it's only reading existing data.. not free space.
So the whole disk is not being read.

Should I do an extended smart?
At least the whole disk will be read...

On that note, what comand do I use for that + logging?

Ahh, though it had finished, btrfs can't correct the errors since each disk is an independent filesystem without redundancy, you need to delete or replace the affected files, they are identified on the syslog, but if these are new files you need to find out why data is being corrupted, is corruption limited to this disk?

First things first - how come I can't click SMART on any of my disks? Extended test short everything is greyed out

  7. 4 hours ago, johnnie.black said:

There should be something logged, if it happens again save the syslog.

i'm 99.1% sure, there was nothing.. I recalled checking after a few times...
That was a few times with mover...
Then a few times with Krusader Cache Drive -> Disk 2

Anywho, I scaned another disk on the same breakout cable.. all good..
I deleted those files, rescanned Disk 2.. 0 errors..

I will fill up disk 2 again to see if happens again

Thanks again for your help! I will post back tomorrow afer I filled the drive

That part is kind of strange, since a checksum error will  abort a read, it shouldn't happen on writes, I can't find that operation on the syslog, do you have a syslog showing it?

    I do not :(
I do recall seeing the log, and nothing was thrown up...?

  9. 1 hour ago, johnnie.black said:

A single UNC @ LBA error doesn't mean the disk is done, much more worrying would be the disk corrupting data, disks should never return corrupt data, they should give a read error, though it's been known to happen.

You don't need to format the disk, just need to replace (or delete) the corrupt files listed on the scrub, then run an extended SMART test and if OK keep monitoring the disk, but any more errors on the near future I would replace.

What was causing the transfer to stall out though? 64gb file 16.7gb would transfer.. Tried it a few times..
Ended up moving the file to another disk with no problems

  10. 46 minutes ago, johnnie.black said:

There are some recent UNC @ LBA errors on disk2, about 3 days ago, I would recommend running a scrub on at least another array disk, if errors are limited to disk2 then it was likely a disk problem, if they appear on other disks it's another hardware issue, most likely bad RAM.

Yeah, 3 days ago mover was trying to move a file over to disk 2.. and it would just get stuck.

    On that note....
Is Disk 2 done? Or Do I need to do that format to a diff fs, then back to btfrs?

    187 Reported_Uncorrect - doesn't seem serious provided it doesn't change..

  12. Help please :)

So I noticed my cache was filing up... files weren't moving to Disk 2
Drive had 150gb of space left
    File was 60gb
It starts moving and gets stuck at around 16gb
    then just stops

That share is set for 80GB minimum space left

I forgot what I was doing, but ended up getting an error on the drive "SMART"
    187 - Reported uncorrect - 1

Nov 20 03:55:15 Servo kernel: BTRFS warning (device md2): csum failed root -9 ino 15705 off 302710784 csum 0x2ac15d26 expected csum 0x914939f8 mirror 1

Tried to Balance, but afterwhile it ends at this ^^^

When I check the disk.. I get no errors?

    btrfs dev stats /mnt/disk2
    [/dev/md2].write_io_errs    0
    [/dev/md2].read_io_errs     0
    [/dev/md2].flush_io_errs    0

Any other questions for me please ask!
    Thanks!

I don’t think so. The desktop on the same network can pull 1gbps without any issues. WiFi devices are consistently getting 600mbps. So it’s specific to this server

Those speed test don't mean much though... I was on 1gb/50mb up before and I could get 90mb/s with usenet.. I switched providers..
    1.5gb/1gb.... I was getting 80mb/s.. now i'm around 60mb/s.. <-usenet

Update: I just tried using an ubuntu live image on the same machine, and it also had slow speed test speeds (yet somehow fast xfinity speed test speeds).

I tried changing ethernet cables and ports on the router, but nothing changed.

So it doesn't look like this is an Unraid issue after all. It's a hardware issue of some sort. Not sure exactly what is wrong since the speeds are constrained via integrated and pcie gigabit network ports. I guess it's time for a new mobo, ram, and cpu? This setup is about 6 years old after all.

Could be a peering issue with the ISP "that's what I think my problem is".. I have an i5 from 2012.. that 8gb of ram that can pull 1gb...

Interesting. I hadn't thought to try speedtest in a firefox container. I just tried it and got about 850 mbps.

Close but not quite there. Also not clear why a successive speedtest to the same server using the unraid speedtest plugin got 790 mbps (and one right after that got 450).

I figured it would have the lowest overhead/resources...
