  1. Hi Guys, Just want to double check before making the changes. I got a red ball next to a hard drive, tried to run a SMART test but it said an error about the connection. Searching through the forum I found it's probably a loose cable. Re-plugged in the cable, ran the SMART test and everything is fine. What is the proper procedure to restart the array using that same hard drive in the same place? Thanks!
  2. unRAID security is on the user not on the machine. It is possible to make a share updatable for some users, and read-only for others. Thanks bjp999, can you kindly point me in the right direction?
  3. Is it possible to have a single computer always have read/write to the disks/shares, and all others have read only? Thanks!
  4. Bump, curious what else this can be aside from cables or connection. Did re-seating the cables fix the issue for you slarco?
  5. I would suggest creating a user share for each category ie movies, photos, docs. That's the way I have it set up and makes it easier for me to navigate. Plus you have more control over the user shares and splitting, etc.
  6. Just to add, I started getting the same errors when I upgraded to 4.6. I've reseated the cables, ran a Long Smart test and everything was fine. Can this be something with the new version of unRAID? I'm curious if re-seating the cables will work for slarco.
  7. Hi Guys, I'm not sure if this has been posted before, but this tip has been working for me thus far. This command stops Apple computers from creating .DS_Store files when browsing network drives. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1629
  8. The "-c" option just alerts you of updates. It does not download or install them. It does download a "release_list" that contains the file names and expected checksums. Those files on your server are compared to determine if they have those checksums. If they do not, or if they are missing on your server, they will be downloaded and installed if you subsequently invoke with the -u option. The release_list looks like this: http://code.google.com/p/unraid-unmenu/source/browse/trunk/release_list Joe L. So to upgrade I can just run the -u command?
  9. Does the unmenu_install -c command download new updates, or just checked to see if there are any new updates?

How many drive bays does it have? There is barely any space inside, it has room for one slim optical drive and a 2.5" hard drive. But it's nice and fanless, silent with a SSD

I just got my Shuttle XS35GT and threw on Openelec, and wow what an awesome combination. I can't believe I've been using WMP! Now I need to figure out what to do with my old HTCP.
  13. Thanks for the quick reply Joe. That's no problem, my next step was upgrading to the newest unRAID version. I will upgrade now and posts results. I just wanted to make sure everything was OK with unMENU before upgrading. Thanks! Edit: Running 4.6, all images working!
  14. Hi Guys, I just updated to the newest version of unMENU using the unmenu_install -u command. I'm running unRAID 4.4.2, and everything seemed to have installed properly. When I access the MyMain page the images seem to be broken. Any ideas? Thanks!
  15. Is this anything to be concerned about? 195 Hardware_ECC_Recovered 0x001a 060 048 000 Old_age Always Thanks.
  16. Wow totally makes sense! I learn a little everyday! What about threshold values of 000? I'm typing (thinking) out loud That means that as the number hits zero that's the point of failure correct? Edit: I missed the other thread that I was supposed to post about the results
  17. I understand most of what my results are but am confused by this: 3 Spin_Up_Time 0x0027 067 067 021 Pre-fail Always - 13683 This is on a new 2tb WD Black, it only took 33 hours to run. Also most of my threshold values are 000, other than that I think every looks good. TIA!
  18. I doubt that the running files are keeping you from replacing them, but in case they are... The easiest way to kill unMENU is to type at the command line killall awk Second easiest way is to use the "Kill unMENU" button on the "User-Scripts" page of unMENU. What version of unRAID are you running... The "smartctl" program has been included for quite a while, although for a few versions the c++ support library was missing. Yes, you can probably install the 5.38 version, as it is the most recent... But if you tried to download it, the old link to it is probably out of date, and that is why the checksum of what you did download (probably an error message that the file does not exist) does not match the expected size. Joe L. Upgraded to 1.2 after stopping the process Also installed the c++ support library. Thanks
  19. I'm trying to upgrade to 1.2 from 1.1. I am not bale to copy the files over as it says they are in use. What is the command to stop and start unmenu so I can copy the files over? Thanks Edit: While I'm asking what is the command to install the package so I can access the smart data, as it does not currently show up anymore after a restart. I have the plug-in insallted. Sorry I haven't used the server for a few months and forgot a few things I think it's one of the packages called smartmontools-5.38-i486-1.tgz but I get Installed, but version is different. Current version='3.14.3' expected '5.38' (NOT matched - download may be corrupted.) Don't know if I should install it or not?
  20. Does anyone know of a program other than Cidero that allows you to control MediaTomb from another computer?
  21. My current receiver allows me to stream media to it that from a DNLA compatiable server, WM11, or Windows Media Connect. I know that the receiver can play .flac amongst other loseless formats and am looking for the best possible way to do that. Receiver- Pioneer VSX-94TXH http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Support/HomeEntertainment/AV-Receivers/EliteReceivers/ci.VSX-94TXH.Support?tab=E Thanks
  22. After running the script it told me the error count differences detected after pre-clear. Is this anything to be worried about? Results look similar to a previous person's post but I want to double check. The drive is a new Seagate 1.5tb St315005n1a1as Took 12:12:24 to complete the preclear. Edit: Seems like I can't get the image to show here. Here is a link http://img10.imageshack.us/my.php?image=results.jpg
  23. I'm can't believe I didn't see that deal! That's a great price. I guess I will have to wait and hope dell does that again.
