  1. I have the disk attached as an array disk. It was showing in unRaid as an XFS in UD, not sure why as it is presently formatted as an unRaid array device as XFS Encrypted (and confirmed in the disk settings) and I am copying files to it at present. The drive shows the green padlock for encrypted and unlocked status. Is there some commands I can run on the disk to see why it isn't showing in UD correctly? Or I can start over with another smaller disk and see what happens?
  2. I have a 8tb disk that has been formatted XFS_encrypted with a 70 char keyfile. Stopped the array and did a new config and then attempted to connect the encrypted drive via unassigned devices. Here is the log file resulting.... Doesn't seem to want to mount. After, I stopped the array again and reattached this encrypted disk via an unRaid array mount without problems. Does unassigned devices only support keyboard entered passwords and not support keyfiles at present? The 70 character keyfile uses A-Z, a-z, 0-9, !@#$%^&*() characters. unassigned.log
  3. Ok I recall @limetech expressed interest in taking over unassigned devices. Is this still planned? I appreciate that unassigned devices now can format drives in array compatible format. In my opinion, unassigned devices is the most critical add-on to unRaid. Well done @dlandon and others who have taken it this far.
  4. So @limetech needs to fix something before @dlandon can fix unassigned devices to support encrypted drives? This won't be an easy fix??
  5. Encrypted disks created as part of the array on 6.4rc17b and then removed from the array and connected by unassigned devices, doesn't seem to work. It correctly identifies the FS as crypto_LUKS, but doesn't want to mount the device. This is after starting the array and giving unRaid the passphrase the encrypted drive requires for proper mounting. Is it just me, or is this still not yet working?
  6. A number of us have been using the dual Xeon 2670 setup with this motherboard. The version I have used is the 2600cp2 that only has 6 SATA ports. The Intel 2600CP version has an additional 8 SATA/SAS 3gb connections with optional Intel C600 Raid upgrade keys. Has anyone used these additional 8 ports? Do they need the upgrade keys to utilize them? Do they work with unRaid? https://www.intel.com/content/dam/support/us/en/documents/motherboards/server/s2600cp/sb/g26942005_s2600cp_p4000cp_tps_rev19.pdf
  7. I have created a new VM with 1.41 and so far so good. Has nobody else updated their virtio drivers yet?
  8. Virtio is up to 1.41 on https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Windows_Virtio_Drivers#Direct_download Most of my Win10 VM's were created with 1.26 Is it worth upgrading old VM's? What about new VM's, should they use 1.41?
  9. Using unRaid is totally OK for a business that understands what they are getting into. The panic about support is not relevant for some small businesses. The support provided on the forums is totally above and beyond what some small companies get from their less than responsive tech service providers. We have been using unRaid for 7 years and now have multiple unRaid servers. We don't use them for what they are not designed to do, but with VM, and dockers, there is more and more that we do with unRaid. XenServer still runs our website, but unRaid runs most everything else. All that I would recommend is that you have somebody tech savvy that you trust to keep you running in case of difficulty. I am still waiting for easy snapshotting and cloning of VM's in unRaid. Once that is available, your idea for unRaid in an accountant company is totally awesome. Let us know how you solve these issues.
  10. @Cursewords Lev is only a volunteer trying to help, like we all are. We are mostly a drama free area. This post is not normal either from you or from @Lev But you might have to dig a little deeper to find the gold here.... All the best...
  11. I share Brit's disdain with Tapatalk, but so far haven't found a better solution. Every time Tapatalk updates, they undo my false signatures and replace it with their preferred "sent from Tapatalk....." Then all the advertising spam posts they force on us..... uggh. The new forum software is better, but the timeline function showing latest content still doesn't live up to Tapatalk's ability to take you to right where you left off. Please somebody create a Tapatalk killer....
  12. Mine does the same thing. All we can do is wait until @bonienl enhances his SCSI plugin. That plugin made Areca almost plug and play. Only this issue with main screen temperatures and the smart reporting part of the pre-clear plugin are still unresolved. My workaround is to use the mb connected slots in my server for pre-clearing so the smart reporting part of the pre-clear is accurate, and use the Areca browser based interface at the IP address of my controller to see the actual temperatures.
  13. I used raided parity on old 2tb drives on a 4tb disk array. Main reason was to use the old drives for something and rather than have 4tb parity with 2tb disks, I created an 4tb parity using 2x2tb raid0 attached to my Areca 1260 / 1280 controllers. Speed was very good, but that wasn't my main reason for doing it. I could see a 2x8tb parity raid0 along with 2x8tb raid0 disk1, disk2, disk3 etc. Might need a newer generation Areca to be able to handle the throughput. What is you use case where you are needing better write speed? Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
  14. Thanks, this is perfect. No I expect that they will balk at more than this server. But it's a fight I have to fight. And they can be thankful that I don't claim for a new one. Could be $50,000 for a tricked out current gen server. Intel, though gougeth mightily.... Also there is this one too... http://a.co/3DnB0Xk
  15. I got flooded and lost a server with dual 2670 cpu, 128gb RAM, S2600CP2 mb in Intel P4000 cases. I need to value this for an insurance claim. What would an equivalent ready built dual Xeon server cost. Thankfully drives were not installed...
  16. I'm glad there are others picking this up and taking it further. unRAID is good for more than just ripped media files. With VPN and rsync and IPMI it can scale Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
  17. Sorry I can't help with the WOL. All my servers are IPMI. The ability to control the server via IPMI even on old eBay hardware is too valuable for me. I'm sure you can get WOL working, sort of, but getting it to be dead reliable will be the challenge Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
  18. I don't run Mac. Isn't FCP legacy now. Apple dropped it? Check the FCP forums to be sure, but I don't think you'd get any benefit from high end GPU. Start with simple and cheap and try it out. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
  19. It will depend on the software you will use for video editing. Some of it takes no advantage of the GPU at all. High end GPU are most important for gaming. The other issue is the number of monitors required Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
  20. Some of us have multiple servers based on this hardware. I have 4 of these beasts. There is a lot of gold in this thread.
  21. I think I found it in China (where I am now), but the price is worse than jolly old England. Converts to $530 US. Ouch.... I need to find a competitor that makes sine wave UPS in China. https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a230r.1.14.65.3USbnA&id=553394010050&ns=1&abbucket=10#detail Edit: This is actually a 120v version selling in China. Not going to work in China....
  22. In America I use the CyberPower CP1500PFCLCD PFC Sinewave UPS 1500VA 900W. The Intel P4000 chassis with dual 750w PSU hates my APC UPS. These Cyberpower work fine when the power dies and the server just continues to run without drama. On the old APC UPS, the servers would go wild fans cycling wildly and the power just draining from the batteries when the power went off. But now I need to find an equivalent to the Cyberpower in the 220V 50hz part of the world. I can't find this Cyberpower at all. What UPS is similar in the 220v world?
