  1. Sorry if I'm missing something obvious. I was creating a new share and noticed Disk 1 isn't available to include/exclude. I've restarted the array and the server. Searched the forum but must not be using the right terms. Fortunately, this is my test server so nothing urgent. Thoughts?
  2. Thanks @JonathanM It's a little hard to find documentation/examples especially using the GUI. I was able to figure it out through a bit of trial and error. Using this setting on both servers, I was able to sync folders as set up below. A similar method could be used for any share (/mnt/user) versus individual disks (/mnt/disk3).
  3. Pulling my hair out trying to figure this out. Trying to keep two Unraid servers in sync. Syncthing seems like it would do the trick but having trouble configuring. I have it set up on both Unraid servers using mostly the default setting. However, I'm having trouble added the existing folders I would like to sync. In the syncthing gui it only lets me add folders that show up under appdata->Syncthing. (see test and test2). I would like to sync disk2. Setting up any folder under /config seems to work but something like /mnt/disk2 doesn't. I'm not sure if it has something to do with the docker setup. The Appdata setting is at the default but it asked me to set the Path:/data1 during install. I'm not sure what that should be or if it's related to what I'm trying to do. I think this would work really well if I could just get a few of these settings figured out. I'm googled and searched youtube and other forums with no luck. Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated
  4. Thanks all for the feedback. I'm upgrading to 8-16 GB RAM. Honestly I though I had more than 2 GB. Just shows how old these servers are. 😮
  5. Thanks @ChatNoir I will remove "previous" and try again. I guess I didn't suspect RAM because the error said "Insufficient free disk space available". I set up these servers many years ago and haven't kept up with the hardware specs for the new Unraid versions.
  6. I recently upgraded from 6.6.3 to 6.10.3. I took a flash backup before upgrading with no issues. After upgrading I tried to take a Flash Backup again. However, I now get an error "Creation error. Insufficient free disk space available". I had the same error on another identical server. Not sure what I did but it is now working on the other server. There is 3.5 GB free on the 4 GB flash drive. I've attached the syslog but it doesn't seem to be capturing the latest data. It's showing about 1pm when it's actually 9pm. Let me know if I can provide anything additional Thanks in advance. Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. 7. Yeah I think I checked the serial # at least 7 times. I'm one of those people who locks the door when they leave the house, knows they locked the door but still has to get out of the car and check it again. Thanks for you help Gary. ds
  8. Well I did it and it seems to have worked. The array is doing a parity sync and the new drive is being precleared. I may not have been so eager to experiment if I didn't have a complete backup of the data on another server.
  9. I've just finished a parity check. Would using the new config utility clear things up for preclear_disk.sh? I realize I would have to do a new parity sync.
  10. Thanks for the help Gary. With this method do I have to wait until the preclear is complete before starting the array and using the server? Or can I start the preclear and then start the array? Preclear_disk.sh -v tells me I'm using version 1.13. EDIT: I'm still having the same problem. I think I'll use the second option and create a new unraid copy on a different thumb drive.
  11. I just upgraded one of my servers to version 5. I have 5 disks in the array plus parity. I have two unassigned disks, one precleared and one brand new. I've started the array and everything seems fine. I want to preclear the new drive but preclear (-l flag) thinks they are all assigned to the array. I've used the -t flag to check all disks and each time its says its part of the array. One thing I did notice is the drives (sda, sdb etc) don't have the same letters as before the upgrade. Could things have become mismatched? I'm not sure how to troubleshoot this. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks dave
  12. Is there a way I can tell if I've already pre-cleared my hard drive? I've had this spare drive in my server as a replacement for if/when another drive died. It's been long enough that I can't remember if it's already been pre-cleared. I didn't think about it until after I had already added it to the array for additional space. I have not yet written any data to it. I know I can just pre-clear it again but thought I would ask anyway. I have another drive that is pre-cleared but not added to the array. I'm going to add that drive anyway so I could replace the drive in question with that one if need be. As always, thanks for your help. dave
  13. I have some disks that were pulled from an unraid server that I want to add to another unraid server for the purpose of transferring data from them. Is it possible to access that data by putting them in another server or will it want to format the disk? If it's possible what are the steps? Is it possible to just add them to the server without adding them into the array (with parity) and still access the data. When I get the data off of them I'm going to reformat them. The server the disks came from was 4.7. I want to add them to a 5.0 server. Thanks all. dave
  14. Thanks Gary. I actually have 3 servers with this model PSU. None have room for more than 8 drives (which they all have now). They were all running with 6 drives or less until recently. I'm not positive which PSU I actually have but I'll look on the unit tonight to confirm. I'm pretty sure I intended to buy a single rail PSU when I got these a year or two ago. Frustrating to learn I may have 2 rails but good to hear I'm okay with up to 8 drives. Thanks for your help Gary. dave
  15. Very good question Gary. The Thermaltake Website isn't very clear. I do have a TR2 600W and looked up the previous link by that. However, I was looking on a retailer site and specs showed the two rails. I then look at the Thermaltake site again under their more general description here: http://www.thermaltakeusa.com/products-model.aspx?id=C_00002032 it seems to show a split rail. I happened to have have the box and found a general spec sheet that indicated 2 rail. At this point I'm not sure what to believe. I'm going to look on the PSU itself tonight to see what it says. If it does indicate two rails on the PSU, am I still okay or should I replace it? Sorry for the confusion. I'm a little confused myself. Thanks Gary. ds EDIT: It looks like the difference is a P/N of TR-600P versus TR-600. Looks like I may have the two rail. The name is the same (TR2-600W) but the product number is different. Lame.
  16. Upon closer inspection of some additional documentation it seems the Thermaltake TR 600W is not a single rail. It has two rails: 12V1-23A; 12V2-20A. There are 6 sata connectors on one cable and molex on the other cables. I currently have eight 2TB greens in one server and 8 2TB reds in another server. Is this power supply adequate for each of these servers? I'm thinking the 6 sata are on one rail and modex on the others so I have 6 drives on the sata connectors and converted molex for the other 2 drives. Am I good if I don't add any more drives or should I look into replacing them? Thanks. ds
  17. I have a Gigabyte EP45T-USB3P motherboard. Is there a maximum disk size this MB will support and how can I find what that might be. I couldn't seem to find anything on the Gigabyte site. Thanks. ds
  18. Quick question. There is sooooo much information in the various posts etc that it's hard to tell if I'm using the most recent preclear script and looking at the most recent preclear documentation. I pulled version 1.13 from the download site but I noticed a version on my older server said 1.2 when running it. The date modified on that one was 1/29/11. Is there a central location that indicates the latest version and documentation of preclear_disk.sh. I'm in the process of upgrading and adding new disks and want to make sure I'm getting the latest info without reading a ton of posts. I'm preclearing 2TB WD Reds and Greens so maybe the 1/29/13 script is good enough but it's hard to know if I've missed anything in the last year or two. Okay so maybe it wasn't a quick question. Thanks to everyone who helps out in so many ways. It's really appreciated. ds
  19. Good to know. I think I'll stick with the 8 drives that will fit in my current cases for now. Then when I need more space go with the larger cases as you suggest. That makes sense since my PSU will handle more drives that I originally thought. Thanks for your help Gary.
  20. Thanks for your reply Gary. The port multiplier is a MobileSTOR MS4UM+B - 4 Bay eSATA Port Multiplier and USB 3.0 JBOD Tower. How many more drives do you feel my PSU would support? I would have to get a larger case as my current case only has room for 8 drives total. Lack of planning on my part. Thanks for you help Gary.
  21. Hi All. I've been running unRaid for a few years now. It's been running so well I hardly pay attention to it. I recently upgraded to version 5. I am running 5 WD Greens but want to add 2 more. I would also like to run 7 WD Reds in another server with the same PSU. This is the PSU I'm using: http://www.thermaltakeusa.com/products-model.aspx?id=C_00001656. I was looking at the specs but couldn't determine if it could handle it or not. I was also thinking about a Sans Digital port multiplier (MobileSTOR MS4UM+B): http://www.sansdigital.com/mobilestor/ms4umplusb.html as a means to add additional drives. Is this approach a good idea or maybe not even possible? Thanks All. dave EDIT the drives are all 2TB if that makes a difference. It appears the PSU has a single rail +12v, 50A 600W. Am I correct in saying the red and green drives use less that 2amp each? If so it would appear this PSU should be plenty?
