  1. OK, during a power outage I think it corrupted the operating system, or at least I think. This happened a while back and I didn't have time until now to take a go at fixing it. I tried replacing the 2 files that normally get screwed up bzroot and the other that escapes me at the moment. I have I believe version 4.6 on the drive. What is the best version to update it to?Also I'm not sure which is the parity drive. I know it's the largest but there are two that are the same size. Is there a way to tell which it is? This server ran for years with no problems. After that long it's easy to forget some of the details. Any help to try to get this going again with screwing up the data on the other drives would be greatly appreciated. THANKS
  2. it is version 4.7 I had.As soon as I get a few minutes im going to give it a whirl. Will I have to run parity? Thanks for the help!
  3. I understand, if I install 6 are there any precautions other than getting the parity drive assigned correctly. Is the assignment of the other drives important? They are wired physically hooked up the same. They have not been removed. Thanks so much for helping me out. The thought of loosing all my data was killikilme! Lol ling
  4. It says error in sys lines won't load. So that wouldn't be the computer bios right. Just to be on the safe side I did check the computer bios. Didn't see anything. Since I haven't started the drive I think everything is intact. I tried to upgrade to 5.06 it booted up bur the drive assignments were wrong I believe. Is there a way to restart this with out screwing everything up? Thanks
  5. We recently had several power outages. The server was running versipn 4.7.Im not to sure how long power was off beacuase it's on a UPS.When I tried to reboot it,it would hang and say ebios problem, wont boot.I figured it was a corrupt file on the thumb.I had Windows check it and there was problems with the thumb.I had Windows repair it to no avail.I tried an old copy of my thumb and it did go farther in the loading process, but again stopped.I didn't have the original download so to try the bzimage and bzroot files. At this point I tried those files in version 5.06 the current file in downloads. It did boot but when I went into the gui there were a couple of drives not assigned. The drive in the parity slot I don't think was the correct drive and that and 2 other drives had the green dot. When I assigned the other 2 they had a blue dot.All of these were in the original array. At this point not sure what to do.The array has not been started.Any ideas please.Afer these things run reliabley for so long ,you have to scratch your head.
  6. Duh! Thanks guess I forgot that! I guess that's a testiment on how often you look at that page!
  7. I seem to be having the same issue. On boot it goes to the prompt, I enter root, then to password prompt, and at that point the keyboard will not do anything so I can't log in. Did you find a solution? Any help appreciated!
  8. I had posted about another issue with flash file corruption and when I continued the old thread i thought this was related. This issue is on new hardware, with the old flash drive. After testing the memory it seems as if this is a new problem. When I boot unraid it seems to boot normal and comes to the prompt for the username. I enter root, then it asks for the password. When I try to type the password there are no letters or numbers generated by the keyboard, as if it were dead. This problem started on a new server, with the same flash I had been using. At the moment I have memtest running, otherwise I would of tried to generate a log file. Any help appreciated!
  9. Peter it ran in the A760 in memtest all night. The reasons I left it in the same thread, at first I thought it may have been a corruption issue,so a continuation of the same issue. After running it in memtest was pretty sure it wasn't but had already posted about it.
  10. Sorry i misstated what I meant. The new ram was new in my new unraid server. It was from another computer that has run here for almost a year without a hitch and had been tested overnight. This is NOT the problem with corrupted file any more, if you read the post you would see that.
  11. Ok, well the testing of the ram won't be necessary as I built a new server, with new memory. I'm trying to fire up the new server, now another problem. I enter root at login, goes to password promp, but at that point the keyboard won't type any letters. It won't let me type it in for some reason. The server is an A760 board,, Phenon x2. 3.2gig processor. It has 2 1 gig sticks of Patriot memory. Any help appreciated!
  12. Thanks for your help, that corrected the problem. Do you have any idea what may have corrupted that file?
  13. Thanks for the reply, would that be the images from the installation package? Also I'm assuming that won't affect passwords, shares etc?
  14. Hi everyone. I'm new to Unraid, and servers in general. I'm knowledgeable as far as computers go though. I built an unraid server about 2 months ago and it has been running fine. I'm running 2 Hitachi 2 t drives. Yesterday I stopped the array and shut down the computer to change the sata cables to right angle cables. Now when I try to boot it, starts to load and hangs in the loading process. I'm not really sure what to do, this is all new to me, and I know just enough to be dangerous. I'll try to attach a photo of the boot process. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I did go back and try the old cables to make sure I didn't have a faulty one.
