At least unraid and fix common errors is good now. Now I will work on the Roku boxes...they no longer like the content (won't accept any from the server) but nothing changed on the server side except the docker settings...I suspect I need to go turn the scraper setting back on in the Web interface. Thanks again! UPDATE: For anyone interested - I found the cause of the missing content. There was an update for Serviio this morning. It recreated without the drive mappings for my media. Everything is being rescraped right now.

That was helpful...missed that stupid Basic/Advanced toggle switch...Dang it.

I did try early this morning. There is no edit button for the Appdata Config path. If it were a Host Path, I could edit it. In reviewing some of the screenshots I took yesterday - it looks as if when this path was defined on Disk 2, it DID have an EDIT and a REMOVE button, but it does not have either one now? You're not wrong - I don't understand anything about Dockers, I get the benefits of them, but setting them up can be difficult for me. Thanks for your patience.

I am having a new issue...anybody know what to do here? I got my drives to spin down (YAY!) but now the docker either doesn't serve content or I blow the container to bits trying to satisfy Fix Common Errors. A screenshot is attached. Here is what I did. I didn't try running anything from the docker after changing it last night. I just changed the container mappings so nothing is stored on a share on my drives - that is what was keeping drive 2 up all the time and because drive 2 was up, parity was also up. It was late, so I went to bed. This morning, I had an error reported from Fix Common Errors...it was suggesting that I needed a "/config" mapping for the config data - that mapping was already in Advanced Settings. Fix Common Errors also wanted me to set this mapping to RW Slave. So, I created a new duplicate /config mapping and set it to RW Slave (I think I did it right but obviously not) - when I pressed Apply - the command fails. (duplicated /config) So, if I leave /config just in the Advanced subfolder, the app will run but I get the error in Fix Common Errors since you cannot set that mapping in there to RW Slave. Plus, I found out that now no content plays on my Rokus. Any suggestions on how to correctly satisfy both criterion?

And one hour later - both Dockers are running and ... All though the house, not a drive is spinning, not even one as small as a mouse.... Thanks guys! EXCELLENT diagnosis and recovery...

Funny thing - I totally missed that Serviio makes reference to a config path, but I did not have one directly assigned. I guess it put it where it liked (it WAS "required") and I didn't catch it until now. (Probably on the disk with the most space at the time.) Bah! Humbug! Do these look like they have been reassigned correctly? The dockers restarted without an error after the modification. Is there an easy way to destroy the appdata share created on Disk 2? I'll know in a bit, if drive 2 spins down...no worries. Squid - thanks for clarifying that you CAN point these to a UD data storage device...it's nice to be able to deploy a docker to a temporary device to "try it out" and if you don't want to keep it, remove it from unraid, format the USB device and you're done. That is kind of how this started...I tried several media servers - minidlna worked fine until I got my roku devices...those needed some transcoding ability. I stumbled through the config for them and they worked, so I didn't spend a lot more time on them, but the configs have been wrong all this time. All I knew was that it was running my drives all the time and that is NOT GOOD for drive longevity. Happy New Year!

Looks like you're right on the money...it doesn't appear to be possible to relocate this to the UD share I created...the only options in the dropdown are Disks 1 2 or 3. I cannot choose the Unassigned Disk share. So, when I do my upgrade, I guess one of the checkboxes for me is to install an actual Cache disk - at least then I can select it. This says that disk 2 is where the data for both of my dockers reside, so it makes sense that while the docker is active, the disk will be polled, even if there is no one watching anything. At least that solves the mystery. Attached are the two screenshots in the hope that this might help someone contemplating a similar move. Thanks, Saarg! BTW, do you know if there is any way to relocate this for the time being to the Unassigned Disk share, just is it possible? I know you could choose NO for the cache disk option, but I don't know if that allows you to use a UD share.

I am running this currently from a drive added using Unassigned Devices. (I had to - out of SATA ports and I needed to run a docker to share data with some Rokus.) If you can't see what you need from this shot - let me know how to get it and I'll post it a little later - I have to go do a couple of errands. I am ready to upgrade this system to an old motherboard from my son's computer upgrade, so I am about to have a bunch of shiny new SATA ports and I can deploy a more normal cache drive setup. You think this might be caused by the assignment via Unassigned Devices? (By the way - this drive is a USB3 based SSD - kinda like a big thumbdrive - but it is on a USB2 so that's the max speed - it isn't sluggish to respond, but it isn't like it would be if it was a real ssd on a real SATA port. It is fast enough for me.) So - it has no cache settings, since it is just a drive attached to the array but outside the array? It automounts on system start, but there is no cache anything enabled?

And it's been more than 30 minutes since I changed the settings and drive 2 is still spun up...so the search continues. I did go read on the Serviio website but, as expected, dockerized apps are another can 'o worms. They did have some mentions of dockerized versions of Serviio, but it's all over the map - there was 2-3 for unraid, mostly for building a dockerized image, so I came back here.

Attached are 2 shots - I expanded everything to show all settings. I thought it was scraping also. I have some media on Drive 2 that might not be " scrapable". Maybe Serviio doesn't like NON easily resolvable files for scraping? Kodi has issues with some of these files as well. There are basically 4 mappings: /movies /HD Movies (Blurays) /tv shows /Kids (Animated stuff mostly) Then I poked around in Serviio some more and I found this in screenshot 3 - maybe that will do it? I'll keep my fingers crossed. If my drive 2 spins down in 30 minutes...I'm golden. Thanks for looking Saarg!

I'd like to first say thanks for this wonderful docker. Everything works as expected, but I have noticed something odd since I installed the Serviio docker. My Drive 2 and my Parity drive will not spin down. Stop the Serviio docker and you can spin them down manually and they stay spun down. Restart the docker and they return to being polled. I looked in the logs for Serviio from the WebGUI and there is nothing there that is unusual: [s6-init] making user provided files available at /var/run/s6/etc...exited 0. [s6-init] ensuring user provided files have correct perms...exited 0. [fix-attrs.d] applying ownership & permissions fixes... [fix-attrs.d] done. [cont-init.d] executing container initialization scripts... I did try giving the app "privileged" access but it didn't do anything about the drives being spun up (as a matter of fact, it spun them ALL up!) I attached my diagnostics, is there something else I might try? I have had this issue present in at least the previous two versions of the docker - I am running 1.9 currently. Thanks in advance. tower-diagnostics-20171229-2331.zip

How much RAM do you have installed in your unRAID server?
I only have 4gb of DDR2 ram, but I only run 1-2 dockers and none are intensive, no torrenting, no VPN, just a media server. I plan to up it when I upgrade the sever motherboard.

Mine is so big it's still going....But it's working AWESOMELY! I should be complete with all moves by tomorrow morning...then, the reformatting and finally - load those suckers up with new content. MUSH! 1.7.0 MUSH! Great job - you need a "Buy me a Beer" button!

Awesome! I 'll give the app an update and a new shot when I get home. Yes, rsync is NOT for the uninitiated. That's why I didn't relish the idea of doing it manually - this app is nothing short of brilliant. Would it be possible to add a "log reader" button to the UI? When I got the error initially, it took me a few minutes to remember to go to the Main menu and right click the folder on the flash device to go find my log (I don't go there very often!) . I think you could just steal the folder icon, code and all from Main and put it on your page? It might help others in the future, especially when things don't go quite as planned. Really, truly great job.

Hey Saxy - you said: Did you try that rsync without the leading slash? Did that finish yours up?
-
[Plugin] unbalanced
@Saxy. I suspected the same, and I would probably take the same path you did - manual relocation of the remaining data. I'm just concerned about what Parity might think about that. I can wait a while to see if jbrodriguez has any input. It was working swimmingly until I messed it up with my shenanigans and that too quick update finger. I don't know what possessed me - I usually wait a week to update - especially on anything that I am using at the time. It was a dumb move.

First off - this app is super useful - thanks for this. I did several stupid things, and now I am stuck. I have been migrating all contents from 2 drives to a new larger one. I have been doing it, one folder at a time. I was on the home stretch and I had unBalance moving my TV share folders from one disk and honestly - forgot about it (5 hour run). Later, I was on another pad and I saw the updated unBalance app, so I immediately updated it. (Stupid me!) Instant loss of communication with the running app from anyplace. (previous version of unBalance running and I train wrecked the existing app so all that was running is in memory.) Crud. That was dumb. And the carnival of errors continues... Next, since I was incommunicado with my process that was running (said unBalance was installed and running but no access to Web UI), I thought, well, perhaps I should restart the server to gain control of unBalance. So, unRaid tries to spin down but couldn't unmount since unBalance was in progress. Now, no unRaid communication either. I knew it was a tug of war but eventually, unRaid would dismount and shut down. This morning, I could restart unRaid. UnBalance now has a Web UI (and is updated). But now when I try to start from where I left off...I get a message that unBalance was interrupted and I should check the log. I cannot restart my task. Is there something else I should do to get things moving again? Here is a summary of the status shown when I tried to reselect disk 1 and continue the MOVE: MOVE: Started: Jun 9, 2016 06:44:00 MOVE: Ended: Jun 9, 2016 06:44:00 MOVE: Elapsed: 129ms MOVE: Move command (rsync -avX --partial "/TV Shows/STAR TREK THE NEXT GENERATION" /mnt/disk3/) was interrupted: exit status 23 MOVE: These are the commands that were executed: and the Error dialog at the top: OPERATION FEEDBACK Move operation was interrupted. Check logs for details.

Would it be possible to have an option added so unBalance would simply CLONE all the targeted shares to a new drive and not delete the original file? I have several drives I would like to consolidate onto a new larger disk - but i would like to leave all the original disks intact for storage. Even if not - thanks for an awesome means to safely move files without dealing with the command line - this plugin is brilliant.

Preclear plugin
Awesome - thanks.

Preclear plugin
Hi, fellow Unraiders! I am preclearing my first WD Red 6TB - I never used the preclear plugin before, but it was pretty easy to setup and it's going right now. Should I have disabled the preread since this was a bare, unformatted drive or just took all the defaults? Just wondered if I ought to abort and rerun with new settings. It's been running for 3 hours - Pre-Read (1 of 3). 24% @ 133 MB/s (3:00:18) I sat it up for 3 passes but I may stop it after 2 if there are no issues. All I did was install it last night, and run an extended smart test - it passed with no errors. So I started a preclear. By the way - thanks to gfjardim and bjp999 for this - I don't hate the command line but there are lots of folks who do. That makes it easier for me to recommend Unraid - great support community and solid software that makes NAS less of a mystic pilgrimage for nerds and usable by more of the masses.

Preclear plugin
Gold Star for BobPhoenix. I know my situation is that I am a cheapskate and on top of that, I have a bad situation (motherboard with only 4 SATA ports and no expansion), but this is the dilemma shared by most newbs to unraid. If you purchase a Basic level license and you run single parity, 2-3 data drives and a cache (and/or application) drive, you're pretty much full. It would be nice to "standby" a hot spare or have a way to test these large (and getting larger) disc volumes since they take a while to prep and we're seeing many more fail out of the box... not starting my array while I do this is undesirable when I have other old computers lying around and I can easily let them preclear my drives.
-
Preclear plugin
I think you could always set up a Trial USB key, install preclear and run it on another machine, even if you were not going to run that machine permanently as another unraid array. Kinda like building a preclear "stick" on a spare USB. You could preclear 3 drives at once on that setup.
-
Preclear plugin
Question: If you are maxed out on drives (according to your unraid license) but you have SATA Ports available, can you still preclear a drive to test/check it? I guess I am asking if preclear is considered to be doing something to a volume outside the array?

Docker requests
+1 For Universal Media Server. UMS is how all my Netgear NEOMAX boxes, PS3s, PS4 and various pads get their content - failing this I would probably opt for Serviio. Both packages have dependencies on JAVA which is a freaking pain - so many updates.
