  1. For me my ups is in a different room/ building, so networking was the only option.
  2. Thanks very much for the feedback.. A server reboot got it running 100%! Now i just need to do a power fail and see how it actually acts. I have the system running off 250AH worth of external batteries so it could take some time before it needs to actually shut down. Cheers Des
  3. Guys, Sorry for bring this thread back up but im struggling getting Unraid to talk to my APC 1500 2u rack UPS over ethernet. I can talk to the UPS via its webpage at 192.168.1.60 and i can pig the device etc, but the UPS settings page in Unraid seems to refuse to see the UPS. I also dont seem to see any errors in the UPS log that i would expect if a password was wrong, so im not sure if Unraid is even trying to talk to the UPS. I had setup the passphrase as "admin-user-phrase" within the ups and then have this under device in unraid "192.168.1.60:apc:admin-user-phrase". Its setup as Ether and have tried pcnet and SNMP. What am i missing? Thanks des.

  5. Thanks for the advice. I now have a fully operational system again[emoji6] Sent from my Moto G (5) using Tapatalk
  6. Thanks guys! So am I best deleting the docker and then installing again? Should I delete any particular files? Are there any idiot proof guide to installing this from scratch? Cheers! Sent from my Moto G (5) using Tapatalk
  7. Sorry to be a pain guys but in getting nowhere with this on my own. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Should I remove the docker and try again or any suggestions? Thanks! Sent from my Moto G (5) using Tapatalk
  8. Can anyone assist me with this issue? If this isn't the right forum can you point me in the right direction? Almost all my downloads now fail making this system useless for me. Thanks in advance, des. Sent from my Moto G (5) using Tapatalk
  9. Hi all. I upgraded from "needo" version to the linuxserverio version as it seems to have better support. Anyhow since upgrading i have has issues which i believe are related to permissions. When a tv show downloads i get a fault "2018-02-24 19:54:41,568::ERROR::[misc:1597] Cannot change permissions of /config/Downloads/complete/tv/xxxxxxxx" Where xxx is the tv show. I have checked the SAB config and have played with the permissions value, but its at 777. It seems SAB cant change the file and so post processing fails. Im totally lost, so can anyone help me resolve this issue? Im not sure if this is a sab issue, an unraid issue or what? Thanks des.
  10. Parity check completed finding zero errors so looks like I'm all good. Thanks des.
  11. OK thanks for the feedback. I have no idea how the zip file got split out into the individual files. Sorry about that. My microserver runs on a 12v psu from a 200 amp battery which powers it for a few days at normal load. The battery is charged when the mains is on (99.98%) of the time so the server never sees a mains failure. I also always shut the server down from the guinea and before the upgrade to 6.3x it had been up for 180 ish days. Based on the a over any other thoughts as to why the corruption would of happened? I will run a parity check now just to be sure how things are.
  12. Should I be OK to do a parity check after this event? Thanks in advance des.
  13. Ok, reran the file system check with -nv and the fault has gone, so suspect the checker "fixed" the problem the first time? Anyhow, i restarted the array in normal mode and now i can copy to the server again on the directory i couldn't before. Anyone know what would of caused this? Should i be concerned?

  15. So everything was great in my Unraid world until a few days ago i upgraded from version 6.1X to 6.32. Everything seemed OK, but since then i noticed my backup software on my mobile phone complaining that it couldnt write to the unraid server sometimes. I have just had a chance to have a look and sure enough my pc on the same LAN network cant write to some folders. So i restarted unraid which made no difference. Then I put unraid in maintenance mode and ran the file system checker on my drives which are all XFS. All looked ok to me on all but 1 drive, and it showed a diffrent result to the rest. So i tried running the command with just the -v switch from the GUI and this is the result. Not available Phase 1 - find and verify superblock... - block cache size set to 251280 entries Phase 2 - using internal log - zero log... zero_log: head block 12582 tail block 12582 - scan filesystem freespace and inode maps... - found root inode chunk Phase 3 - for each AG... - scan and clear agi unlinked lists... - process known inodes and perform inode discovery... - agno = 0 - agno = 1 - agno = 2 - agno = 3 - agno = 4 - agno = 5 - agno = 6 - agno = 7 - process newly discovered inodes... Cheers Des
  16. Right my motherboard has Intel virtualization in the bios switched on and should be good to go. It's a Asus p8z77-v so it looks like I could have a project brewing. Thanks guys.
  17. Ok thanks. At least Windows 10 looks cheaply available at the moment. Haven't played with Windows 10 yet so that would be another thing to get my head round.
  18. Thanks guys I'm doing some reading and learning now. It does in theory seem like the way to go. But it's a steap learning curve. I'm thinking that I will transition to Mediaportal 2 soon anyhow so there will be some disturbance during that and so it might be the time to try the virtualization setup. Need to figure out if I need to buy yet another version of Windows even if it's just for testing in a virtual machine.
  19. You have already been very helpful thanks. If you do have that guide I would still like to read it to give me some idea of what's involved. When I type virtualization into Google some of the results make my head melt so a starting point from someone who has done it might be useful.
  20. OK that's good to know. I didn't think of virtualization when I got the motherboard but it was a higher end one which allows overclocking so may have extra features like virtualization. Will check it out. As for the TV cards do they need to be special pass through versions or should the windows virtual machine pick them up with the normal drivers? Any links to idiots quids to virtualization in unraid? Do I just install Windows from a cd or do I need a special version? I have heard or images but where are these available from? Cheers des
  21. While I do appreciate what garrycase said above I am tempted to try some virtualization. I have another pc that has an Intel i5 3570 non k, 16gb ram, a good graphics card, 0.5tb ssd and a big case that would hold plenty of drives that I built a few years ago to see what modern games were like. Basically I couldn't get into games (I'm 38) so the pc sits in my "home office" and gets used for word processing, Excel and surfing the net occasionally. Seems like an ideal machine to use as an unraid server with virtualization for the Mediaportal server. So my question is does the i5 pc sound good enough for running unraid and a version of Windows simultaneously? I would fit my quad dvb-s2 card and my 2x twin dvb-t2 cards and use them in the windows session with Mediaportal. Would these TV cards pass through? Or is that even required? As I say im total beginner to virtualization but I like challenges.... As I see it I could start off with a trial version of unraid and get the virtualization version of Windows running without pulling drives from my unraid microserver. I could then borrow the TV cards from the Mediaportal server and try getting them running. If it works out I could then use my paid unraid license in the i5 pc and move all the drives across. If it fails I just put the TV cards back in the a10 Mediaportal server and tell nobody anything about it lol. Thoughts?
  22. Mediaportal 1.x does take a bit of setting up as it's so flexible and to be honest if it wasn't for a guide I found online I wouldn't of got it to were it is now. But that was much like unraid for me when I got involved at first with version 4.x. I had no idea what I was doing and relied on following an online guide and asking questions on forums when I got stuck which was quite often to be fair! But now unraid is quite easy to use with its gui and Mediaportal 2.x seems to be an easier setup from the testing I did on another pc I have. Version 2 of Mediaportal is a complete rewrite of the code and while it does the same thing as version 1.x it isn't contained by the old code with patches on that Mediaportal 1.x is now. Version 2.x is way faster and smoother so runs well on old weak hardware like an amd e350 I have. Anyhow it's worth a look.
  23. Yep dvr is an important feature for me and my wife even more so. What would stop you running Mediaportal in a virtual Windows machine within unraid? I know nothing about virtualization but this would be very nice? At the moment I have a hp microserver doing the unraid stuff and an amd a10 htpc I uses as a Mediaportal server and client. Combining the 2 might be nice. But as what I have works great maybe I should leave well enough alone...
  24. I have tried a few front ends but settled on Mediaportal a few years ago. It does all I need with plugins like TVseries and my movies. I use it mostly for live TV from satellite and terrestrial here in the UK along with watching acquired TV series and movies. Also does a good job of online streaming with another plugin onlinemovies. I use streamed mp as a skin and it is so easy to use that my family including 73 year old dad can do it with a remote. Mediaportal 2 is now at beta stage and it includes all the plugins I use built in so I will probably switch to that at some point. I'm I missing out on something by not using plex or whatever?
  25. Here is a new diagnostic download which I can now access again. tower-diagnostics-20160420-0700.zip
