  1. No need for me to update [emoji6] If you want to try out that version (remember it is not yet stable) go into your container settings, open the advanced view, change the branch variable to dev. When you hit save, it will update and restart I did this an in the process of the the docker restarting I got this message in the log: Where do I run this command from in order to update meteor?
  2. dont know.. if you create with -z option from command-line, then you create physical RDM. if you are not sure, you can always recreate it. EDIT: found it - when you add it to VM, then you can see it Compatibility mode. Thanks! Looks like I'm all set.
  3. google for it a quick find from me, for example here: http://serverfault.com/a/156050 i always use physical, so no experience with virtual ones.. I take it this is a virtual one?
  4. Yes, i have seen this guide before.. i just hope you created a physical RDM.. and if everything is working now, then please post your testing/usage results with unRAID How would I discern the difference between a physical and virtual RDM?
  5. looks like you have a typo a space in between? vmkfstools -z /vmfs/devices/disks/t10.ATA_____H2FW_RAID1_______________________________C7Z2F7TI816OWYJW62CV /vmfs/volumes/VM_Datastore/RDMs/localrdm1.vmdk Ah you're right. But I got it working anyway through this method. Thanks gary but I was hoping not to spend that much more money. The $50 Enermax 2-in-1 seems to be working well for me.
  6. My Enermax 3203 have a small mode switch on the back side. you just switch it before power up, and then it will initialize when power up. and there is a Windows tool also for configuration.. i have not tried this utility cos i have no baremetal windows machine for testing.. when this raid drive shows up in esxi, then you make RDM, and add it to unRAID VM. Hey uldise, how did you get your enermax to show up in ESXi? I installed my two SSD's into it (which previous had data on them) and moved the switch on it to RAID1 but after booting my server it doesn't show up as a device under storage. Is there some type of initialization I need to do with it before ESXi boots? EDIT: Nvmd, it turned out one of my SSD's wasn't actually connecting to one of the internal SATA ports on the Enermax. Re-seated and now it's being detected by ESXi. EDIT #2: Ok I'm having trouble creating the RDM. When I run the following command I get a "missing required argument" error. vmkfstools -z /vmfs/devices/disks/t10.ATA_____H2FW_RAID1_______________________________C7Z2F7TI816OWYJW62CV/vmfs/volumes/VM_Datastore/RDMs/localrdm1.vmdk
  7. Is there any configuration needed after installing this plugin? I have the IPMI Tool listed under tools but there are no sensors/fans listed under sensors and nothing is in the event log.
  8. sorry, i have not used this plugin by myself(still no V6B15), but i'm using ipmi outside unRAID for Zabbix - i got all sensors from Ubuntu VM. So, i think unRAID works in similar manner. are there some configuration of this plugin? you should provide at least IPMI IP Address and user/pasw. I'll post in the plugin thread as I don't see anywhere in the webGUI to set any specific settings for the IPMI tool.
  9. or use IPMI Plugin? IPMI plugin? Did you have to do anything in addition to installing the plugin to get the sensors to show up on your unRAID VM? Nothing shows up for me. see here: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=39787.0
  10. Anyway to pass CPU temp sensors through to unRAID guest VM so the Dynamic Temp Sensors plugin can be used?
  11. I've seen some screen shots from others with a Temp Sensor plugin. I can't seem to find it anywhere. Can someone point me to it?
  12. ok, please post your test results then.. Will do. I just need to backup my cache data now .
  13. pure command-line see here: http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=1017530 and remember to add custom option to VM advanced parameters as i wrote already.. Sweet. Thanks for all the info.
  14. Ok, just picked up one of those Enermax enclosures. I think that will be perfect for what I need. Anything to creating the RDM drive or it's pretty str8 forward?
  15. i think it depends on your board and sata port/controller count. if your board have only one sata controller, and you have esxi vmfs drives on it too.. i haven't tested that cos my board have only 6 sata ports on one controller.. if you have one controller, can you use some ports for raid, and some ports for ACHI? i think no, but may be i'm wrong? Good call. Let me research my board.
  16. Is there any specific advantage to using it over doing onboard RAID1 other than ease of setup?
  17. Just looked at your case - very limited space inside, so there will be no space for such 3.5" combo.. Actually I just moved to this case yesterday and I just remembered there is one internal spot for a 3.5" HDD under the PSU. http://www.istarusa.com/istarusa/products.php?model=D-3100HB#.Viz76p_D9nE How exactly does that RAID ensure work in terms of configuring it for RAID1 to show up in my UnRAID VM?
  18. That's an interesting option. However I'd like to avoid having to use another one of my 3.5" hot swap bays for my SSD's since right now I just have them velcro'd inside my chassis.
  19. if you connect two 2.5" hdd, then SataII will work ok i think. with two SSD it will be limited if you use them at the same time.. just did a quick research and found only one similar item available here: http://www.enermax.com/home.php?fn=eng/product_a1_1_4&lv0=3&lv1=81&no=278 if someone have another experience, please post a model.. That says its SATA III (6.0Gb/s). Looks like I need to buy it! I wonder why i didnt run across this one in my research? Just for reference: i got Enermax 3203 (http://www.enermax.com/home.php?fn=eng/product_a1_1_4&lv0=3&lv1=81&no=278) and started testing. i wanna switch it in mode when OS sees both drives separately, but looks like it's not possible. JBOD concatenates both drives together, NOR(no Raid) sees just one single disk. i can test more options, just ask - i have 2 500GB green HDD in, sorry no SSDs available for testing.. Hmmm, that's an interesting option as well. The only thing about that is that going that route will take up one of my 3.5" hot swap bays when I can normally just keep my 2.5" SSD's velcro'd somewhere in my case.
  20. Yes, i have two HDDs configured as RAID1 but with separate RAID controller that is NOT passed through to unRAID - but this does not change things at all. you can RDM drive attached to MB ports too - i have such configuration on my test server. on the minus side on RDM: spindown wont work, SMART probably wont work - depends on controller.. Well in my case I'd be using RDM for my two cache drives which I don't spin down anyway so that shouldn't be an issue for me. I will have to give this a serious look tomorrow.
  21. i think RDM is your way to go. see here for additional modifications needed: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=26790.0 i use RDM for my RAID0 array for parity and for RAID1 array for cache. Just read that thread, very interesting never knew that was possible with unRAID. So you have your cache drives configured in a RAID1 I n your board and then present that as a vmdk to unRAID to use as your cache device? That sounds ideal for me as I'm currently using two SSDs in my cache array and that way I can keep all 8 of my array disks passed through my M1015 card.
  22. Looks like this is my only option. Sucks but at least I'll be able to expand up to 24 drives in the future. Intel RES2CV240 24 port 6Gb/s SATA SAS RAID Expander Card
  23. Well the reason I'm asking is that the two drives I have attached to my on board SATA ports don't show up in my unRAID VM though I did confirm the are detected in the BIOS. Sorry, missed the fact that you're running under esxi You missed it in the Virtualizing unRAID forum? It's ok I'll give you a pass .
  24. Far as I know you cannot use USB hard drive as an ESXi data store drive. You might be able to add a cheapie SATA controller but I suspect it would only be useable if you can boot from the add in card. If you cannot boot from the add in card I suspect ESXi will not be able to use it for a Data Store drive. I think he meant use a USB flash drive as the ESXi boot drive. I just really don't want to have to reinstall ESXi as I had to do a decent amount of customizations to get some of my hardware (M.2 drive, NICs) to play nice with it. But in regards to adding an expansion card, I don't have any more PCI slot. My board is a Mini-ITX board and the only PCI expansion slot is taken by my M1015 HBA.
