  1. Maybe something like this instead. It will give you longer leads. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Evercool-EC-DF001-4-pin-Molex-to-5-x-4-pin-PWM-Fan-Splitter-Cable-Adapter-17-72-/400712293079?hash=item5d4c505ad7:g:1cUAAOxyZzlTeaDo

  3. Yeah, it's a hard decision. Probably end up going with 24 bay just to be safe. I'm starting from scratch though so whatever I get will be full of 8TB drives.
  4. Congrats that thing is a beast! I never would have any need for 36 bays but i'm going to be ordering one of these soon. https://acmemicro.com/Product/11475/Supermicro-SC846BE16-R1K28B-4U-Rackmount-Chassis-24x3-5-in-SAS-Hot-Swap-1xSAS2exp-R1280W-80PLUS-CSE-846BE16-R1K28B-Black?c_id=53 Actually trying to decide between that and a 16 bay SAS3 case. 16 bays would probably do me OK as long as they were all 8TB drives.. https://acmemicro.com/Product/15073/Supermicro-SC836BE1C-R1K03B-3U-Chassis-16x3-5-in-SAS3-Hot-Swap-eATX-R1000W-CSE-836BE1C-R1K03B?c_id=55
  5. I've got a norco 4224 and did a parity check yesterday and my disk temps never got over 35C. Of course its winter, my summer temps aren't near as good. I'll be switching to a supermicro chassis soon and I'm curious to know how my temps will be just switching cases. A lot of times in the summer I will turn a big fan on and point it towards the front of my server case. It helps quite a bit. You might want to try that OP, at least during parity checks.
  6. Thanks squid. I'm glad it's nothing to really worry about
  7. This has just started happening last week. Doesn't matter what browser i'm running. I've tried multiple computers, clearing browser cache etc. I also rebooted the server and it didn't fix it. It's probably just cosmetic but i'm just wondering what I should do to fix it.

    Norco 4224 Help

The Norco chassis has 6 backplanes with 6 molex connections to your power supply. I would only run 2 backplanes per lead so you don't overload anything.

Yes SAS2LP will work out of box with no flashing necessary. I think most here though are choosing LSI based controllers these days with unraid. Flashing to IT mode is easy though really nothing to worry about.

8 drives. If you need more than 8 you will need multiple cards or you could just go with a HBA + expander.

    Norco 4224 Help

You will need to add an HBA in order to get more ports. And Flash it to IT mode. Here's on example: http://www.ebay.com/itm/IBM-ServeRaid-M1015-46M0861-SAS-SATA-PCI-e-RAID-Controller-LSI-SAS9220-8i-/181842534823?hash=item2a56a8e1a7:g:JZ4AAOSwfZ1WZR4a Dell H310 is also popular and possibly slightly cheaper if you look around on ebay....
  12. It's not the airflow TO the room that's typically the issue I see. It's how the air gets out. Does the room have its own return? Yes it does. It has both a supply and return vents.
  13. Sounds like possibly new construction? If so, make sure the "server room" has good airflow. A dedicated HVAC zone would be ideal, with both supply and return so it's not semi stagnant if the door is shut. Thanks, yes new construction. There is ducting (AC/Heat pump) going to each room throughout the whole home. Oh yeah....Also I plan on running probably 2 hdmi cables in to my server room as well. One from my main living room TV definitely, so I can run a htpc vm.
  14. Agreed about the conduit I will have some installed. There is still time because the drywall isn't even up yet. I have an attic over most of my 1st floor except the living room. The living room has a vaulted/wood plank finished ceiling. My server room is going to be in one small bedroom of the daylight basement.
  15. I just ran Belden 2412 cat6 all throughout my 3300sq ft. home to a Leviton 24 port rack mount patch panel in my equipment/server room. https://www.amazon.com/2412-006A1000-Enhanced-Category-Non-Plenum/dp/B005T5HQLM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1481576245&sr=8-1&keywords=belden+2412 This is 350MHZ rated cable and it should be plenty good enough for 10GbE as long as you're not doing super long runs. And the good thing is, it doesn't cost a fortune....
  16. BUMP..... YES! Would very much like to see it added so USB modbus functions properly.
  17. THAT is a rather HUGE understatement !! That's a spectacular deal for that rack. If I was within a few hundred miles of Tempe I'd be grabbing one too Thanks gary, yeah i'm pretty happy about it.
  18. Shipped or was he local? Nah, not shipped. I live about 3 hours away from Tempe and I went to pick it up with my dads 3/4 ton chevy truck.
  19. Just bought a APC AR3150 Netshelter SX from a datacenter in Tempe, AZ. Like brand new for $400. Came with 2 PDU's also. (APC AP8941). I feel like I scored a pretty good deal for $400. The guy had like 7 of them he was selling. Plan on racking a ton in it so I need a 42u size rack.
  20. Updated fine 6.2.1-->6.2.4. Doing a parity check now.
  21. I built my uncle a 6700k desktop rig the other day and installed a seagate 8tb enterprise capacity v5. But only because he specifically requested it. For me personally I haven't had really good luck with seagates drives. My servers are full of wd & hgst drives. Hopefully this seagate enterprise drive will last for him,...
  22. $29 for a 10gb nic. Pretty dang good price. You're a good shopper.
  23. I put a lsi 9201-16i in my e3 rig. It has enough ports for what I need. Gives me 2 pcie slots left on my mb for whatever... I'll probably eventually add a 10GbE nic like you're doing.
  24. I've been using Eset SS9 along with malware bytes pro in a win 10 vm for awhile now.. It all seems to work OK...
