  1. I did the check filesystem with the -L flag on disk1. Then started the array and it did a rebuild overnight. As you can see in wednesday's post, when the drive was unmounted it was ntfs. When part of the array it was changed to xfs. I did change its format so it was part of the array. Was that my mistake? After rebuild disk1 has only 27.9 Gb written on it. So I assume the data are gone?
  2. The new disk1 that was added was ntfs. I made it xfs to be part of the array. That's it. The drive was brand new to obviously empty. I would assume as such that I didn't erase data. Am I wrong in this assumption? The array was then rebuilt with this new disk1 drive in place of the previous one. Are the data rebuilt or gone?
  3. I reformatted the new drive that was ntfs to xfs. there were no data on the new drive (obviously). I followed what was posted. Was I misled?
  4. So I ran it on disk1 with the -L flag and then started the array. it did rebuild overnight and now the array is up. I'm not sure that the data on disk1 are there however. I'm trying to mount the share and see if the data are there but it's taking a while. I will post tomorrow.
  5. Thanks. I don't know if I did what you asked properly. I initially couldn't get to the check filesystem even after clicking on the drive. It's simply wasn't there. The drive was ntfs so I reformated the disk1 to xfs and now it mounts and can be part of the array. I checked the file system status. I started the array in maintenance mode and the drive is part of it. The drive is emulated (and shows a SMART error although it's not clear why because it seems fine). Should I now click the SYNC button and try a data-rebuild? Would that possibly restore what was on the original disk1? Thanks.
  6. Thanks JorgeB. Sorry for the delay but I was waiting for a replacement drive to arrive. I followed the instruction and post the new diags below and the current status of the array after having unassigned drive 1 and restarting the array as advised. What should I do now? any hope to rebuild drive 1 and recover the data? Thanks for your help. tower-diagnostics-20240110-0850.zip
  7. No take? Downgraded to a lower version of unraid. Could then access the shares. Problem is that no app could be installed, which is a problem as I use it as roon core. So installed the 6.11.1 upgrade again and reinstalled everything to discover that the roon server doesn't start anymore. Or it starts but then fails to read library. Still can't access the shares... so no music, can't transfer to external drive either... Krusader installation fails... What an update !! next step is remove flash and try a clean install... am I the only one with these problems?
  8. System diagnostics added. Thanks ! tower-diagnostics-20221010-0731 2.zip
  9. Hi, I would appreciate some help. I just updated to 6.11.1 and now I cannot access any of the shares. Didn't change anything from before. I tried restarting both the Unraid server and the Mac, no luck. I tried accessing as root or as a user, no luck either. I'm unsure what else to try/change and would appreciate some help from experienced users. I should mention that shares are seen but then it says that the shares do not exist on the server (?) Thanks
  10. Hi, I have Roon server installed as a Docker container and it was working fine. Until an update and now... most songs are skipping after a few seconds of play. There's something interfering and I can't figure out The server is an Intel Xeon CPU E3-1270 with 16 Gb of RAM Thanks for any help
  11. Hi, I was wondering if anyone would be using unraid to distribute music files? Here's my configuration and problem. I have a lot of files (>80.000) on the unraid server, which are in one smb share (music). I mount this share remotely on a mac Mini running Jriver. I run convolution so I don't want to have a media server on the unraid machine as the only option for that would be Roon and I don't want to pay $600. But irrespective, even when it doesn't play and I just want to change a name etc... it might take 5 min or more. Transfer of file to the server are fine, using a SSD cache before it gets written to the array every night. But Jriver media server is sooo slow that it's not really useable. My media library is on the mac Mini, only the files are on the server. If anyone has an idea? Thanks
  12. Hi, If anybody has any idea, I would greatly appreciate I used to have an unraid server but it was too slow, so I dismantled it. a friend gave me a PC with Asus P90 WS motherboard and Xeon processor E3-1270 v3. I have been trying my old USB key or made a new one Tcruzer 16 Gb following the instructions but I can't boot from it. I don't know what to change in the configuration of the Bios anymore... Thanks for any help, Laurent
  13. Thanks John, Yes I will try that. The copying speed to not that fast but I can live with it. As you mention it's only for dumb storage and I only stream music files (SACD iso too) but no Plex or anything demanding. So while it's a low end set up, it should fill the bill. The real problem is creating a library and/or modifying it. I'm currently trying to rename files through audirvana to organize library and get the mac wheel for minutes at a time. It shows 90-100% cpu usage and 160 Mb/s network usage but not writing on disks. The problem might not be array related but more interface between the array and the macs. Was looking at new set up with i3 6100, taking me back $350 or so... could spend it somewhere else Thanks for your help. Much Appreciated.
  14. John, I'm sorry but AFP and SMB were unusable. Just way tooo slow Can I transfer the array to new hardware? What would be a cheap improvement? going to a Pentium or i3? Thanks
  15. This is ridiculous... I have accessed through NFS the same folder from the two different Mac using Audirvana to build the music library. This took over night but both finished. One has 33863 tracks, the other one has 87316 tracks and both of them are missing tracks !!!!
