I'm setting up my first VM so bear with me ... one of the tickboxes relates to USB and AMC UPS. I DO run a UPS but am wondering why this wouldnt protect the whole running machine in any event so what is to be gained from ticking the box? Sorry if this is an obvious to most of you out there but not to me, yet ...

I prefer just the option of clicking on plugins and having it check for updates without me having to click a further button. Any available updates would then be shown. I dont want any nag screens at the bottom of front end pages. Get enough of them on my phone. Surely its not that difficult to click on a top line setting like 'plugin' and respond accordingly?

Anyone able to push me in the direction of an agent to use for notifications to both desktop and android platforms? I have just tried (and failed) to set up via my gmail account so guess the next step to try is a third party provider ... but what's best out there at the mo' that's secure cos gmail doesnt seem to like me logging in via unraid. I know i can set security level low but would rather not have to do this so are there any apps out there that are up to speed security wise?

Just wondering ... will a vm created from my existing desktop pc attract the 'upgrade to windows 10' offer if it is hosted on suitable unRAID hardware. Currently it doesnt due to the hardware not being up to spec.

Did this 'thinning down' of the host windows disk so that unRAID allocates minimum space to any new vm image ever get resolved?

From someone who has just had a failed 8TB Seagate i do like these additions. I still kniw little of SMART values and gave them little attention until now. This tweaking is going to make life easier. Thanks!

Think it was carried over from V5 but still there at 6.1.9 .... defect raised (i know, it's purely a cosmetic issue but misspelling lets the side down, it looks untidy ) apologies rickinhouston for 'taking over' your thread. You can have all the credit going when its eventually 'fixed'

RobJ ... can you expand on that one for me please? Update ... the exetended SMART test passed successfully with no increment to the figures so there's still 17 at attribute 187. I dont understand what 188 is trying to tell me at 65537 and why is that attribute not a notifiable one in the SMART settings of unRAID?

Thanks for taking a look. That might tie in with its 'history'. I started preclearing it and overnight it just ended. The array hadnt restarted, just the preclear had disappeared the next morning, no reports, nothing. Its had two preclear cycles since then with the same results. Think i mentioned it on gfjardim's preclear plugin thread. I'm busy running an extended smart test now so we'll see what comes of that but if i am upfront with the vendor about the nature of the fault then i might get to rma it. Shouldnt be in that state. Its a brand new drive. In warramty and outside of initial 30 day warranty i might have lived with it for a while but i want it to be good from the get go.

My Seagate 8TB preclear has just finished and i think there MAY be a problem. Although passing SMART there is an attribute 'Reported_Uncorrect 0x0032 083 083 000 Old_age Always - 17' which is being highlighted in orange? I've attached the reports, this is the second independant preclear cycle of the disk which started with a threshold of '100' now down to '083'. Busy running an extended SMART test as i write but what do you think?? This disk was earmarked for data, i have already precleared and added a second disk to the array as parity, its SMART was clean. I have three days left to RMA but given that it's going to be pressed into use as a data disk maybe i shouldnt be worrying (??), if its use was as a second parity disk i would be worried! preclear_reports.zip

Just a quick question ... i've just installed 6.1.9 across three servers. Any chance that there could be three different front end colours availaible for the setups or do i have to live with black and white as per the settings menu? I know, not THAT much of a question but hey ... i'm sure i'm not the first to ask!

Hi ... just upped to 6.1.9 from 5.0.6 and i'm seeing a redline in my syslog .... 'Mar 21 14:13:54 Tower sshd[1308]: Server listening on 0.0.0.0 port 22' Anyone able to interpret this for me?

The server DID reboot at 00:28 GMT and as other servers remained up and running doesnt appear to be a power issue, strange? Is there anything intrinsic to unRAID 6.1.9 (a recent upgrade) that i should be looking at?
