  1. Im pretty sure I must not have set my bios settings correctly DC_WD40EFRX-68WT0N0_WD-WCC4E1DNXP34 Zeroing. 48% @ 20 MB/s (37:43:41) Will have to wait for this drive to complete and then find some screenshots to make sure bios settings are right.
  2. Was going to say the same, PLEX does exactly what you want, plus you can add custom posters, tiltes and descriptions and control the users who have access to it.
  3. Yes, clearing does 0 tests or validations, while preclear is explicitly external tools/plug-ins that do extensive tests and validations. Stopped the clearing and installed pre clear plugin and added the script. Running this now on the new drive. However clearly I have never done this on my 5 other drives is it still possible or simply too late. Assuming would have to do 1 drive at a time and then rebuild it?
  4. I searched site and found this post https://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=11585.msg326928#msg326928 before that I must have went through around 5 or 6 dead links
  5. Please post version of Unraid, if you are using Plugin or Docker? You will need to map the shares and restart the docker.img
  6. Must have been one heck of an oversight on my part if that's the case... Assuming its just too late to even run pre clear especially on parity? I have added another 4TB WD Red today that's going through clearing. Is that different to pre-clearing if so then I know what has happened with the parity drive and all my other drives in that case
  7. Upgrade went well, just running pre clear on new HDD in ODD bay and swapped the cache drive to the ESATA port. Is there any settings that I need to look at in the BIOS to make sure I have full speed enabled on all ports? It is already set to 3gbps VGA to 32MB TIA
  8. Finally managed to find a working link for SP64420.exe but not sure if that's stock bios or modded
  9. Its not a new drive so done pre clear a good few years ago. I will run smart check, thought one had been done. Have attached full diag just in case too server-diagnostics-20160626-1503.zip
  10. Everything seems ok but its telling me that read errors been detected. I have attached the SMART log for the parity drive and hoping everything is ok or it looks like I am going to be forking out for a new drive ASAP. Could someone tell me if its look good or bad please server-smart-20160626-1501.zip
  11. Hi guys I'm looking to update the stock bios on my N40L today but struggling to find a workable link for the bios to create the USB. Can someone help with a working link or even post a disk image I can just write to a USB? Need to add 5 drive to ODD and move Cache disk from ODD SATA to ESATA.
  12. Bought a 4TB WD RED from Amazon uk for £124.88 discount doesnt work on WD UK
  13. Glad your sorted, have to admit I did miss the bios update from the troubleshooting
  14. So I have been reading pretty much daily on site now and having made a quite an investment (time/money) on having 2 unraid servers, it has got me thinking "well but if the worst was to happen" I would be screwed! So what would be considered best practice to create an off-site backup. I have 2 machines at the moment, 1 purely for data, 1 purely for processing and dockers. If RIG1 (see sig.) was destroyed that would be years and years of data lost. So should I look to build an identical machine, with similar amount of storage if not more. Do one time sync within LAN than do multiple syncs of WAN daily? Any thoughts or suggestions would be hugely appriciated.
  15. Very old fashion indeed I dont know of any dockers that are just usenet readers, I am personally looking to automate as much as possible.
  16. So just had a look at my settings and there is a setting to extract if rar file found but I think this would be used if you add a managed folder with rar files within it. If you go into advance view you can and unrar location. I have attached a screenshot.
  17. Do you get any leds on your motherboard coming on? If your not getting no POST beep it does look like the motherboard is potentially dead. Looks like you have done all the right checks but clearing CMOS would clear your overclock unless you have saved the profile depending on Motherboard. As mentioned earlier you should be able to remove the USB put in new machine without any drives and UNRAID should load. If that happens then I would only the start moving the disks. But plese wait for some more replies as I have not done this and there might be some steps im missing.
  18. I think before doing anything else perhaps try some troubleshooting with your original machine. How old is the motherboard, make and model? Does it post as in do you get a beep? Has it been overclocked? Have you tried setting bios settings to default and or clerared CMOS? If its very old the battery may need replacing. I know you have said the PSU appears ok but are you able to get the machine to post without any hard drives connected? As far as I know unraid would boot up in any PC as long as USB is set to boot device. I wouldnt go moving hard drives until you have done some troubleshooting.
  19. No expert as only started doing this my self but I thought CP just manages your requests and passes it to the torrent or usenet client of choice in my case, sabnzbd and tranmission. These will download and extract. CP doesnt actually download anything other than metadata in your library unless im missing something.
  20. Dont know what you mean by full usenet client, but for years was using newsleecher on windows machine but now have moved to sabnzbd lsio docker. Don't know what took me so long!
  21. Thanks for the replies, think I will have to revisit openvpn-as. might keep it enabled on my router too just as back just incase tower ever goes down. You need either/or, you can't have both as you'll need to set up port forwarding from your router to your Unraid box, personally I use the OpenVPN implementation on my router as it has dynamic DNS built in and if my Unraid box needs a reboot I don't get disconnected. If OpenVPN-AS is on your Unraid box and the docker/plugin fails to start then you won't be able to reconnect. My modem/router is an Asus DSL-AC68U. Are you sure your speed is limited by the VPN and not your upload/download internet speed? Post your router make/model and your internet connection speed. ASUS RT-N66U had around 4 years or around when Batman the dark knight came out lol... ISP is virgin media 200Mbps down and ~12Mbps up

  23. So far I have never had any of my WD red drives fail on me but I have had 3 Seagate Barcuda drives fail since 2014, one was dead on arrival, one died within a year and was replaced and the other one most recently throwing errors and took it out and replaced with a spare WD green which I will replace when the price of WD reds come down 4TB hovering around £128 for months.
  24. Sorry yes your right it was @mr-hexen. So what benefit do you have using a service like PIA VPN, simply to anonymise yourself? What way could you tunnel into your LAN which is faster than my current method of using built function router?
