  1. All dimms are in I will try take them out but the fact the 2 old cpus work baffles me For now in just running one Sent from my SM-G973F using Tapatalk
  2. Found almost identical issue here https://superuser.com/questions/1072866/why-wont-my-motherboard-work-with-two-cpus But I don't think it can be a bent pin because it doesn't matter what socket I use or what cpu. Sent from my SM-G973F using Tapatalk
  3. Yep all power connected, I have removed one CPU for now and everything running but as soon as I add the 2nd one it will fail to post. Then it doesn't matter what which one I remove. If I put both E5645s back in it works. Also cleared CMOS just incase it was some BIOS issue Model: N/A M/B: Supermicro X8DT3 Version 2.0 - s/n: NM13AS004395 BIOS: American Megatrends Inc. 4. Hi I was trying to upgrade my dual xeon setup with a pair of X5690s but for someone reason it does not post when both cpus are in. If I take one out it posts fine, but both together and nothing. Motherboard has most up to date bios available. If I put the original 2 cpus in it posts fine. I tested the X5690s individually thinking one might have been dead but this is not the case. What else should I look for? I have reseated memory modules. Swapped CPUs around into opposite socket but same result. Spec in Sig
  5. I have just replaced my 4TB WD Red with a 12TB parity and completed the rebuild. If I want to use the 4TB drive I took out do you need to do anything different as it will automatically remember the serial number... Assuming I just pop into drive bay and add to array and hit start to format? Sent from my SM-G973F using Tapatalk
  6. This seems a great price for 2x 12TB WD Reds WD 24TB My Book Duo Desktop RAID External Hard Drive USB 3.1 Gen 1 https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/offer-listing/B07W5V8GC9/ref=dp_olp_new_mbc?ie=UTF8&condition=new Sent from my SM-G973F using Tapatalk
  7. I almost went for GTX 1050 mini maybe 6 months back but decided against it as most of viewing is done outside of my LAN and as @binhex the 1st, 2nd and 3rd rules of 4k transcoding is dont do it! Instead spent the money upgrading my dual xeons and now have a pair of X5690s, just need time to install them!!
  8. I was assuming using VM would be the same as having win10 on a normal pc directly the my network switch... Only getting around 50mbps out of 350mbps down
  9. Not quite sure whats causing this, but for some reason my Windows10 VM is only getting around half or little less than half of my capable download speed. Everything in dockers download fast and often maxes out the connection but for some reason in the VM its usually less than half. Is there a different setting or config I should be using? to bug me, stuff like downloading ISO that should just take a minute is taking around 10mins. Is there anything obvious?
  10. Definitely loud and not really suitable for any living space. You could probably get away with keeping in loft space or under the stairs but then airflow will be an issue. Quieter fans are available but iv got the stock ones which are not too bad imo. The server I bought also as redundant PSU so those add to noise levels. Sent from my SM-G973F using Tapatalk
  11. Running very smoothly, cpu temps stay around 30c, no real snags other than its probably not the most power efficient compared to newer gen stuff but I can live with that given the price. Size and weight is something to consider, currently this is just sat on a bench and cant justify getting a rack to fit this but have seen some wall mountable options which I might consider when tidying everything up.
  12. Finally got around to reinstalling this again today but not getting more than 8MB/s down... Was getting 0MB/s first and getting stuck in Stalled state but that was quickly fixed by correcting my mappings. I had mapped to /mnt/user/Downloads/data/incomplete When it should have been just /data/incomplete/ I will check PIA to see if there's another set of ovpn files I can use as I downloaded TCP strict set. Hopefully I can get faster download using VPN anything around 20MiB/s will be fine. Sent from my SM-G973F using Tapatalk
  13. I did do this and worked initially then same thing. Eventually gave up and disabled using torrents all together and removed container. Will have a look again later and see if I can get it working Sent from my SM-G973F using Tapatalk
  14. So I actually never actually upgraded as the delivery never came and price went up. Now got a Crucial 1TB SSD delivered today pretty sure I read people using a smaller SSD as unassigned drive for appdata / vm image etc Is this a better option then just swapping out the cache disk and putting appdata back on the larger SSD? 15. I am pretty happy with the performance of my plex server but I always like to push a little for a little better as I am running older hardware. Spec in SIG Question is will adding something like a GTX 1050 Mini make any real difference to overall performance outside of LAN. I only have 6 users but would really like to be able to transcode or even direct play 4k if possible. Any suggestions are welcome, GPU must fit 2u server case. I do not game at all so even the 1050 might be overkill.
  16. Also now running 48GB ECC DDR3 doubled it a few weeks ago but no seen it go over 50% used lol... I have Plex Transcoding to RAM Single Win10VM with max 16GB assigned Might have a play with some other VMs but cant see myself ever need anymore.
  17. Hi I used the script linked above to remove all empty folders or folders with nothing in except for leftover stuff like nfo thumbnails etc. hence the 10mb size. The problem with hiding them is that you will need to unhide them when they have something in
  18. Seems to be behaving itself now, think I just need upgrade to a larger cache drive to stop it from filling up so quickly. Thanks for taking the time to go through the diagnostics
  19. Extended SMART still running... When you say back up anything critical is that in the array? If a drive fails surely the parity will replace that when I swap the disk? Unless multiple disks fail... Sent from my SM-G973F using Tapatalk
  20. Seems to be working better now, films were added to Plex and nothing seemed to hang. I don't know if it was removing that plugin or defaulting the settings in sabnzbd or a combo of both but definitely better. Will keep checking and update bios on weekend with a bit of luck. Sent from my SM-G973F using Tapatalk
  21. Not at same location as server will check the power. Now I'm thinking about it, could be the SSD drive bay adapter may have come slightly loose. Added another diagnostic file with sab running and extracting. server-diagnostics-20190604-1708.zip
  22. Using a LSI SAS 9201-8i in IT mode Sent from my SM-G973F using Tapatalk
  23. Sab may have been the culprit extracting was super slow. But iv not checked back since defaulting the settings. I will keep on eye on things and run extended test just in case. Sent from my SM-G973F using Tapatalk
  24. I have removed that plugin, quickly started looking at the share settings, appdata on SSD cache is set to "Preferred" I am assuming this should be set to "Only" I have attached Diagnostics from today server-diagnostics-20190604-1338.zip
  25. Spin down time should be set to unraid default. Iv never changed it [emoji848] Sent from my SM-G973F using Tapatalk
