hey guys, so it was 2 years ago and i installed my first unraid system it was slow but all i wanted was my media stored....well i wanted a plug and play access from anywhere system and found Synolgy to be better for what i need. Just 6 months ago my main PC that i used to set up unraid tokk a dump and i had my laptop on the same network but it wont see my unraid system, before i would log into the PC and active the Unraid then use my laptop BUT cant do that, so im going away from unraid and into something simplified. I have too much going on already and travel allot, need the readability of accessing from anywhere....not having to power up my PC from home first then my laptop. My main question is can i pull the HD's out and abstract my data or no ? now when i would always back up it would back up on 1 of 2 disks first no 50 50

I used my laptop to log into the tower but it gives me errors, i try to type tower and IE gives me an error that is like we cannot find tower, so i figured out that if i power up my desktop and enter the server through my desktop then i can access the server through the laptop but my desktop had to be first to access it. So i have a desktop that i used to set up my server, that computer is having internet issues, its connected via directly from the wifi router, long story short, my desktop is having internet issues and its time for another build, but i can't access the server of course bc of the desktop not having internet.

Guessing the only difference between the WD and the unraid is the ease of accessibility

Hi Guys, ok so i have been an unraid user for about a year now and all it does is back up my local PC and stream BUT if i want to upload from my work PC that is 30 miles away to my unraid at home; i'm hearing its not secure and not recomended, so why should i not have gotten the western digital my cloud, i can upload and download from anywhere ? Also i can piggy back these units together

What i meant was i power up the server, use IE or Chrome and type //tower which then pops up for a user name and password...but when internet is down it wont even get into //tower

Since my system is already set up can i add a parity drive ? I access chrome or internet explorer to log in and the go to my network places to load and unload, i was not aware there was another way to log in ?

Hey guys a few questions: 1) i built my system awhile back and have only 2 drives, i thought it would mirror one HD so in case a HD crashes the other will back up data on the new HD or it would split the data between 2 drives for faster storage. 2) I was looking for an external drive to image my HD on my PC in case in crashes buy i was wondering if i can do it with my UnRiad server? 3) i had internet connection downrange and i couldn't access my UnRaid server, its plugged into my wifi hub and then my wifi hub is connected (wired to my PC)
