  1. Splashtop is the best for gaming bud, have done world of tanks before though with wireless you really need ac.
  2. Jan 4 19:58:51 unRAID ifplugd(eth0)[1422]: ifplugd 0.28 initializing. Jan 4 19:58:51 unRAID kernel: forcedeth 0000:00:0f.0: irq 28 for MSI/MSI-X Jan 4 19:58:51 unRAID kernel: eth0: no link during initialization. If the card cannot detect the beat, it assumes the connection is faulty and retries. Test your cable to see if it is functioning (or try a new cable). Try connecting a different box to the same switch using the same cable. This may help you identify the point of failure.
  3. lol after reading grumpy's comments which are the truth http://blog.ktz.me/forum/index.php?threads/i-do-not-recommend-unraid.2/page-2 i think ill stick with 5 and go esxi.
  4. Hope lol, of course they will give you a new key, lol your receipt has everything that's needed. itimpi, start with what did you did before it stopped working? Really sounds like a hardware issue to me and i would be running memtest, intel burn test, prime95 ect first. Report back that these have passed, after that start with a fresh install after backing up your current stick's data. If that fails then i would be looking at usb stick, but as far as i know it only boots off the usb stick into ram and only writes the log to the usb. You could also try another usb port. Can you please post your log files last lines?
  5. Can you manually spin them down? this is a major issue power wise and wear on the drives Might do a forum check on this and find out how many other users are getting the same problem. I'am about to go beta 12 and might hang off or just go esxi and keep version 5 after hearing about this. Is this happening on the drives or controller? What controller are you running your drives off btw which arn't spinning down?
  6. Run memtest man and give it 24hrs, sounds like a hardware issue. Best to rule out hardware first and narrow down the issue, also next time screenshot your server, never work from mount points, work by the drive serial numbers and record what drive serial number has what data on it, drive sn: 108987345 parity for example. If you move sata cables around or the controller resign them or you disable a controller in bios then your lost.
  7. Heya guys currently have a 5.05 pro system running perfect with riserfs. I grabbed a ml110 g6 and are putting this into a fractle design arc case. System CPU- xeon x3450 mb- ml110 g6 hp gpu- nvidia gtx 570 pci-e audio- creative labs audolgy pci sata- SASLP-MV8 pci-e unraid drives run on this only on-baord free 6 ports nics- onbaord and 1 intel CT gigabit pcie to come when i get a riser cable ram- 20 gb ecc ddr3 HD- currently 6, 1 partity 4 storage 1 cache riserfs I wish to game on the machine in a vm, maybe use 6 threads for the gaming vm and keep 2 for unraid. The file system is riser, the only plugin i use is transmission for torrents. Q1. Is it safe to upgrade to the current beta and keep riserfs for my current array? transmission needed. Q2. Are i best to go esxi for my needs? Q3. I have to use a pci-e x1 slot for my raid as the x4 is blocked by the vga, will this work fine since server only stores audio/video for playback? I will put cache drive onto an on-board sata for speed. Q4 whats the current issue with riserfs and version 6? will it effect transmission? Can i just format the cache drive to xfs to get arround it? Q5 What the hell is mover i think i disabled it if its meant to shift cache to array?
  8. You will need a sata card be it a supermicro or lsi flashed ect as the controller the hp give you wont support passthrough. I picked up a rack unit like your but once i powered it on was like christ is there a jet near by? If you can get by with the noise then they are a great route to go having ecc and a xeon, though you dont get passthrough vt-d with 771's
  9. great to know will be following in your foot steps once shes goes rc, don't really have a box to test on
  10. gah want speed get 8 good ssd's in raid 0 on a nice card, for streaming movies do you really need more then 20mb's? get unraid lol and flog every lane till its death gahaha. Really dont get you first question op? running sas 300's in my gaming rig raid 0 15ks woot, there not drives your ever going to use in unraid due to the dam size and cost. Are you running bare metal esxi or running unraid through kvm?
  11. Indeed! I have been throwing everything at attempting to get my Nvidia 8800 GT working properly with those apples (sooooo many tests). The computer screen does turn on but it's a bit laggy and not fun to use. If I just use VNC it works perfectly. I think it is an issue with my graphics card being older but I don't have anything newer to try and test. get a gt430 bud and theres a few amd oob ones is kvm playing nicely with nvidia now? or was that just xen?
  12. Heya guys heres my current setup Rig: prolaint hp ml110 g6 vga 1: onboard as1000 ati vga 2: 5770 ati cpu: Xeon X3450 2.66 4 core 8 threads ram: 20gb ecc ddr3 sata: 4 onboard sata2: SASLP-MV8 sound: none drives: well cache and 6 other wd greens Will the 5770 work fine with passthrough so i can remote game on my notebook. The Xen wiki says theres issues on reboot like with domu and dom0, has this being fixed and also ccc. are i better off going a nvidia and a quadro flash? I also have a 6950 is that more stable? Any help would be great. Is kvm a better route and is it still in unraid 6, i'am new to the vm scene but unraid from google search seems borked and i'am half tempted to scrap versio 6 and go esxi on bare metal after my googling on xen.
  13. Thats it, it looks full on but if your read through it there not that much to it. Read it twice and then follow it through You can't really have a guide that skips steps like pre_clear and setup of email notification, lol not unless you don't care about data loss.
  14. OCAU FTW lol, getting a ml110 g6 on the go for my upgrade for vm's, x3450 4c8t with 20gb of ecc non buff with a vt-d passthrough 760gtx and its about what you would call pretty over the top. Anyhow the best cards to get without any fuss or flashing would be the SuperMicro AOC-SASLP-MV8 or newer sata version SuperMicro AOC-SAS2LP-MV8. The 9650SE-24M8 looks interesting will have to have a look at that myself, a quick google says it doesn't support smart arguments above 15 so thats a worry
  15. Great work can't wait till beta is finished and we see an RC, already got my new rig close to up and going, the poor old c2d p965 is feeling its age and want some immou love from the xeon
  16. Heya guys how do i go about moving to unraid version 6? Do i just format my usb key unzip 6 + key and follow through with a fresh 6 install and then just mount my existing disk from unraid 5 in correct order? I know users shares ect will be lost doing it this way but will all my data be on the disk and still safe? Like the filesystem hasn't changed and will be fine working with version 6?
  17. ever since the 1.5tb seagates its turned me off them Got one when they first came out for a wedding gift off a mate, never had the heart to say it was screwed even with the firmware update it still sucked.
  18. Is the HighPoint RocketRAID 2320 working out of the box with unraid? getting one for $50 which is a bargin, says JBOD on the site just wanted to know the kernal has it built in.
  19. Cheers guys just setup another system with a non paid version of unraid to do the job. Lol our unraid server is always at work downloading torrents and streaming so i didn't wanna risk anything. It's one machine that really can't have any down time, just a shame i didn't preclear my wd with -A though its only a cache drive being written to over wifi n. Just did a post in the preclear feed back thread about benchmarks i found, seems we are not losing alot with the raiserfs anyhow being at sector 63 and 512. Great to see it's not going to hurt anything anyhow. The wd green was just stopped and i restarted with -A for a 64 4k align
  20. Just doing my 3t green and its coming up as 63 and there's no jumper on the thing? Is this safe to add it to the array or not. This was done using the newest preclear script on another machine thats in enhanced ide sata. It was out of a windows machine off a raid 1 before hand and it shows as sector 63. Whats the deal with the sector thing anyhow? edit its an fdisk issue god dammit atleaset i can stop the things and start again http://linuxconfig.org/linux-wd-ears-advanced-format?zjixallipatw=ytxcavjlt The preformance hit isnt that bad on riser anyhow ext3 is totaly crap though.
  21. Heya guys can i pre clear a drive while my array is running to save array offline time?
  22. A q9400 can be had cheap, its less heat and better on your power usage. Even a q8200 would rock and your motherboard supports them fine. Why bother with 65nm tech when the 45nm tech has improvements on all fronts and is about the same price. I was thinking of using my modded 771 to 775 though stability and data corruption is something i dont wanna mess with. Picking up a dam System X3550 server today for only $50 which i already have a e5410 to go into already has daul e5320's. Point is way bother saving a few extra dollars on a 65nm home heater when for a few more your going to have something nice.
