  1. I concur, it's ok for a home setup, but for business critical stuff, I would not recommend it either.
  2. How would I roll back to a previous version of Medusa? The current (latest) version seems to be broken and is not querying my 'completed/TV' folder where new TV downloads reside. I am running version 0.3.16 Thank you.
  3. I have a dashboard setup now monitoring one of my unRAID servers and I have some questions. How would I add dashboards to monitor other unRAID servers? If I wanted to add a dashboard to monitor Plex, would I just add the data from the telegraf.conf file from the Plex dashboard to my existing telegraph.conf file for my unRAID dashboard, or does it become its own instance and if so how do I set that up?
  4. I am following this guide: https://technicalramblings.com/blog/how-to-setup-grafana-influxdb-and-telegraf-to-monitor-your-unraid-system/ I have created a directory called telegraf, I have downloaded the conf file and copied it to the dir. I have edited it according to the guide. I have then installed the telegraf docker which installs fine. When I go to start the docker, I get the following error. 2020-05-23T15:26:28Z E! [telegraf] Error running agent: Error parsing /etc/telegraf/telegraf.conf, line 6: invalid TOML syntax I already have HDD TEMP and InfluxDB installed and running, but I have not installed Grafana yet. Any ideas as to what I have missed?
  5. I moved the cache drive to a different physical disk slot in my server, when I powered the server back on it appeared as an unassigned device, added back as my cache drive and everything is back to normal. What is the best way to backup the cache drive so that if this happens again it would be relatively easy to put everything back?
  6. My cache drive just up and died out of the blue, was a 2TB Seagate Firecude drive, not even two years old. I was running plex and a bunch of other dockers. What can I do to get everything back?

    Squid is 50!

Happy Birthday, I just joined the club last month, cheers!
  8. I look at ECC as insurance, I won't need it, until I need it. Better to have it than spend hours trying to pin point an error in memory which isn't always easy to find.
  9. There is an nvidia plug-in for Plex but you’ll have to find the hack if you want unlimited transcodes with a card like a 1060. Yes if your cache drive is an ssd then typically all your dockers would get installed on it including Plex.
  10. Just use an SSD as your cache drive and all your dockers will get installed there. You will need two dedicated GPU's one for gaming in a VM and one for Plex. A single 1080p stream requires a passmark score or 2000, the 3700X has a total passmark score of 23830 so at 10x1080p streams you would already be at 20,000 not leaving that much CPU left for unRAID and other things. If you use a GPU to trans code, then you don't have to worry about CPU usage, but not all GPU's offer unlimited transcoding capabilities, although I think with a hack you can make it work with cheaper gaming GPU's like a 1060.
  11. For the best performance, yes you would want to run it off an SSD. For that many streams you might want to consider hardware transcoding with a GPU like a P2000. Are those streams 720p or 1080p?
  12. unRAID is pretty hardware friendly but I would search the forums to see if anyone else has used this hardware to build an unRAID server, if they have, see if they had any issues, if not then you should be fine. In terms of Plex, how many streams at what resolution are you looking to support? The 3700X is pretty powerful CPU so you should be fine, are you going to have a dedicated GPU for gaming? Also you will want an SSD for Plex and your gaming VM.
  13. Not sure I agree with you about BTRFS, I have two servers running unRAID that are using BTRFS and I have had zero issues. I think really if you want to use ZFS you have to go with FreeNAS. I know there is a plugin for ZFS for unRAID, I have never looked at it. Frankly I can't see ZFS ever coming to unRAID the same way it is implemented in FreeNAS, but that is just my opinion. I thoughts for ZFS all the drives had to be the same size?
  14. That is a pretty old board/CPU, you could look into whether or not it can take a more powerful processor but given it's age, you are probably better off replacing them both with something newer.
  15. Hard to make a recommendation when we don't know it's intended use. Will you be using it just for storage, or VM's, dockers etc?
  16. Looking to buy a Mac Pro 4,1 or 5,1 with at least 16GB but prefer 32GB of RAM. Must have all four HDD sleds. Do not require video card or HDD drives. Must have wifi and BT. Located in Milton, ON, Canada. Prefer local transaction if possible.
  17. I have reconfigured my second backup server into a new chassis, however I am still using the same motherboard I was when it was a tower config. The motherboard is an Asus P8Z68-V PRO. I was using three HBA's in the old setup, one Dell Perc H310 flashed to IT mode and two Super Micro SAS2LP cards. Everything was working ok but I started experiencing issues with disks and suspected the SAS2LP cards as the culprit. I now have two new HBA's and the same Perc H310, issue is that I can only get the system working where it recognizes the drives on two of the controllers. No matter how I swap the cards around, I can get the system working with cards in slots 1 and 3 but as soon as I put a card in slot 2, the system only sees the card in slot 1. Not sure why. I am attaching two configs one with all three cards in, the other with only two. Not sure if they will show much. I upgraded to 6.8 from 6.7 to see if that would make a difference, it did not. backup_tower-diagnostics-20200101-1641.zip backup_tower-diagnostics-20200101-1637.zip
  18. I might suggest rolling back to 6.7 and trying it, could be a bug with a new driver for 6.8 or compatibility with your cards.
  19. Yes of course that is what I meant to say, that it actually runs from memory, thanks for correcting that.
  20. I have no experience with freenas but I don't see why those parts won't work with unRAID. You do understand that unRAID boots and runs from a USB flash drive?
  21. I am located in Milton, ON, just outside (west) of Toronto, I have a few items for sale. 1. Antec 1200 case with four 4x1 cages, it has an Asus P8Z68 V Pro motherboard, an Intel i5-2500 CPU and 16GB of RAM with a 500w power supply. 2. I have two 5x1 Icy Dock cages I am not willing to part the Antec 1200 case, as it is right now it will hold 16 drives. The motherboard works with unRAID no issues there. The case is very heavy and shipping would be expensive, I would suggest local pickup or I can meet you depending on the location. For the Antec 1200 as is I am asking $500.00 The Icy Dock 5-1 cages I am asking $125.00 each. This does not include an unRAID license I am a little flexible on prices so if you are interested make me an offer. I can send pics on request.
  22. I have a backup server that either has something going on with cables or a controller. It had issues with the parity drive, claiming CRC errors and runtime bad block errors, I replaced it with a clean drive, and started a party sync, hours later it now has errors, and this isn't the first disk to wind up like this, this previous disk had runtime bad block errors and CRC errors, this one has reported uncorrect and CRC errors. Can I still use this drives in my unRAID server? Assuming the errors are the result of a bad cable or controller?
  23. My plex server has dual hex core Xeon's and before I got my P2000 it was doing all the heavy lifting for transcoding. Since I got my P2000 however it hardly goes about 3-5% unless it's doing something specific, the P2000 handles all the trasncoding and it's great. I paid $375 USD for mine which I noticed for sale on a reddit forum and snatched it up right away. The beautiful thing about this card is that it doesn't requite and power like a gaming card, it gets all the power it needs from the PCIe slot.
