  1. Agreed which is why i thought it was odd. I honestly cant remember if it was happening before upgrading unraid versions or not. I did rebuild the flash drive and only reinstalled the community apps and fix common problems to see if that would resolve my issue but it did not.
  2. it ran fine for 2 years or so without really any issues. Upgraded the board, cpu, and ram within the last 6-8 months but the only that has changed recently was going from 64gb of ram to 12gb due to turning off vm's and docker. The unresponsive issue started before the ram downgrade but i thiought that maybe the vm or docker system was causing those issues which seems like they were not the cause.
  3. its been 6-8 months since i upgraded the board, cpu, and ram but even before that everything was working properly. Prob been over a year since ive had any issues with the system.
  4. nothing besides going from 64gb to 12gb of ram but the issues were happening before this.
  5. Hey guys I've been running into a few issue lately where my server will become unresponsive. Meaning shares will not open / unable to access and the web UI will also lock up and i am unable to use that as well. I can ssh into the box and everything seems to be working on that side of things. I thought it may have been a VM / Docker causing an issue and i had been planning on moving all of those items to a different box anyways. This weekend i moved all my VM's and dockers off the server. rebuilt the flash drive and started over. Im still running into the same issues. I installed the community apps plugin today and also the fix common problems plugin which gave me a message that said: "Your server has issued one or more call traces. This could be caused by a Kernel Issue, Bad Memory, etc. You should post your diagnostics and ask for assistance on the unRaid forums" which i have never seen before. Figured it was time to reach out for some assistance. I've attached the logs i was able to gather while ssh'd into the server during the time it was unresponsive. 6. Hey guys running into an issue. Trying to move my windows based plex setup over to a docker on unraid however after i setup the docker and load the web ui ( in my case 192.168.2.33:32400/web) it just takes me to a portal to see everyone else plex librarys that im associated with. No options to setup the server that i just typed in the correct ip and port for. I thought maybe it had something to do with my plex account so i tried creating a new account and it just asked me to setup a server and ended up with the same results. Ive setup other containers with docker and this is easily been the most difficult. Any ideas? ** edit - Must have been cache on my pc or something i tried accessing the page on my laptop and issue took care or itself.although i was trying to set it up in a different browser.... odd but all is working now
  7. Yea i understand. Ive posted here and over at vmware to see if i can narrow down the issue, But nothing i have read or tried has worked. Appreciate you at least taking a look
  8. Hey guys so i currently have Esxi 5.5U2 running specs are as follows: Mobo: Asus P7P55WS Cpu: Xeon X3440 Ram: 8gb crucial Ssd: Raid 0 128gb Vertex 4's (cache drive) Hdd's: 5 x 3tb WD Reds Hdd: WD 250gb Blue - Datastore drive psu: Corsair TX750 Case: Norco 4020 Nic: Brocade cna 1020 10GB - Setup in Esxi with a vm Network to Unraid using Vmxnet3 Raid card: Silicon Image 3114 - For the Esxi Datastore IBM M1015 flashed to Lsi-9211-IR-8I I have passed thru the 6 ports on my motherboard to the VM for unraid My main issue is that i am unable to allocate more than 4GB of ram to the VM. I get all kinds of errors when doing so. This started after I enabled passthru. I get this message: Powering on the virtual machine fails with the error: Invalid memory setting for FPT: memory reservation (sched.mem.min) should be equal to memsize(xxxx) (2002779) So i tried setting the memory for the VM in MB and then changing the reservation for to match exactly in the settings. After doing that i get this error The Execute Storage vMotion for Storage DRS task fails with the error: The available Memory resources in the parent resource pool are insufficient for the operation (2070921) I have no idea where to go from here. I dont think i need more than 4GB of ram when running just the Unraid without Xen but just annoying that im not able to allocate more to it. Any ideas?
  9. just an update ive been looking at compiling my own kernel following these instructions http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php/Building_a_custom_kernel I get to the last step: #Copy bzimage_new cp arch/x86/boot/bzImage /boot/bzimage_new then get this error: cp: cannot stat ‘arch/x86/boot/bzImage’: No such file or directory so i tried: ls arch/x86/boot saw that the bzimage was listed. ran the command a second time and it goes thru no issues. i edit the syslinux.cfg file to boot the new bzroot and bzimage. everything boots however the only thing i get when running ifconfig is the lo address. nothing else shows. so i try running lsmod and it's blank. Just says Module with nothing below it. I followed every step just swapping in the newer versions of the files listed. any ideas?
  10. Not even sure if this is possible but figured i would ask. I have an extra Brocade cna 1020 laying around that i though i would install into my unraid box to see if i could get this working on my setup. Only im running into issues with not being able to configure the card. I am mainly a Windows guy and dabble with macs and even less in linux environments. Is this even possible? Running lspci shows the card as being seen 04:00.0 Fibre Channel: Brocade Communications Systems, Inc. 1010/1020/1007/1741 10Gbps CNA (rev 01) 04:00.1 Fibre Channel: Brocade Communications Systems, Inc. 1010/1020/1007/1741 10Gbps CNA (rev 01) 04:00.2 Ethernet controller: Brocade Communications Systems, Inc. 1010/1020/1007/1741 10Gbps CNA (rev 01) 04:00.3 Ethernet controller: Brocade Communications Systems, Inc. 1010/1020/1007/1741 10Gbps CNA (rev 01) any ideas or at least nods in the right directions *** I know the array will not saturate 1gb let alone 10gb, but i copy fairly large files to it regularly with a raid 0 ssd cache and im tired of waiting for files to transfer all the time (im impatient) ** oops seems i posted this in the wrong area. If i could get this moved id greatly appreciate it. (downside to have soo many tabs open)
