  1. neilt0, can you clarify how this hack has been incorporated into NZBGet? I've tried using RAM cache from within NZBGet without much success. The only way I can get it to work is if I specifically point the TempDir to /tmp in Environment Variable (Docker) Here's a quick look at my NZBGet configuration: Docker Template: gfjardim's nzbget (14.2) DOWNLOAD QUEUE ArticleCache: 1024MB (Would it help to increase this to 2048?) DirectWrite: No WriteBuffer: -1 The endgoal is to reduce frequent writes or at least minimize them.
  2. Did a fresh install and its all working. Thank you for looking into this.
  3. Thanks scottc. gfjardim inserts "chown -R nobody:users /home" in all his install scripts while I haven't found something similar in needo or official limetech install scripts. Might be a good idea to include this. # Configure user nobody to match unRAID's settings export DEBIAN_FRONTEND="noninteractive" usermod -u 99 nobody usermod -g 100 nobody usermod -d /home nobody chown -R nobody:users /home gfjardim: https://github.com/gfjardim/docker-containers/blob/master/nzbget/install.sh
  4. Cache Drive: 250 SSD File system: Btrfs Dockers Tested: needo & limetech Issue: Essentially, I'm unable to install plug-ins manually from a Windows workstation because of restrictive permissions: Directories: rwxr-xr-x 1 999 users Files: -rw-r--r-- 1 999 users I've tried needo and the official Plex Media Server from limetech, and both have this issue i.e., all the directories are 755 and all the files are 644. I can install Plex channels but to install any user supported plug-ins I have to SSH into the unRAID box and then do a wget. Question: Am I doing something wrong here or is this by design?
  5. Apparently, Windows explorer changes how an all uppercase file or folder is displayed. To disable this 'feature', the following registry key should be set to 1 HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\DontPrettyPath
  6. I renamed a share from 'TV Shows' to simply 'TV'. However, it now appears in lowercase. The share appears in uppercase in unRAID: Also appears in uppercase in the detailed view: I've rebooted in the hope that it will fix the issue. It didn't. To make things more confusing: Two machines running Windows 7 show the share in lowercase. While android devices show the share in uppercase.
  7. Jeff, if you get a chance, can you verify if your controller settings are similar to mine? BIOS version: 3.1.0.21 Raid Mode: JBOD INT 13h: [Disable] Silent Mode: [Disable] Halt On Error: [Disable] Staggered Spin-Up: Number of devices in group [8] Group Spin Up Delays [0] HDD Detect Time(s): [10] * * Default is 16 Possible options now that I've had some to think about it: 1. Hope this issue is resolved under unRAID v6 as MV8 works fine under unRAID v5 2. Use unRAID v5? Though I'd like to avoid ReiserFS at this point. Not to mention, KVM and Docker was what sold me on unRAID v6 3. Worst case: I'll move away from unRAID since I don't have the cash to buy a new controller right now. SnapRAID under Windows is one option and I have a couple of free Windows Server 2012 R2 & Windows 7 licenses from DreamSpark.
  8. Update: Transferred close to 2TB of data while the drives were connected directly to the motherboard and no kernel panics whatsoever. I really don't know.
  9. I connected the drives directly to the motherboard, ran a parity check and for the first time the system did not crash. Right now I'm transferring close to 2TB of data over the network so I guess the NIC theory will be tested. Though I'm fairly certain its the SAS card. Another similarity I noticed between my setup and yours is that we are both using Hitachi drives. Mine are 4TB HGST Deskstar NAS. Again, my bet is on the SAS card as I tested these drives thoroughly and found no issues whatsoever.
  10. Just had another "Kernal" panic in the middle of a parity check. This time around I monitored the temperatures closely and the system remained under 35°C. CPU temperature touched 40°C but that's well within the limits. The odd thing is I can leave the system running for days and it doesn't crash. I'm guessing its either the SAS card or the SAS cable. The hard drive went through 3 rounds of preclearing so that can't be it. For what its worth, I added the modprobe information in the 'go' file and placed a sensors.conf file in the dynamix (/boot/config/plugins/dynamix) folder with appropriate labels. I doubt temperatures or sensors have anything to do with this issue.
  11. The motherboard is already flashed with the latest BIOS (1.2a). SAS card is flashed with the latest firmware as well (RAID is disabled). I'm using Arctic Silver 5 as compound and Intel stock cooler at 100% speed. I have two 120mm fans in the front to cool the drives and a 120mm on the back pulling out the hot air. 120mm fan are running on 'High' (85%-100%) speed. Temperatures hover around 24°C — 35°C. I do keep getting the "No sensors found error!". I've ran the sensors-detect command and got the following: #---cut here--- #Chip drivers modprobe coretemp modprobe jc42 modprobe w83627ehf /usr/bin/sensors -s #---cut here--- I used vi and added the text above at /etc/rc.d/rc.local however the changes don't stick after a reboot. Not sure if the two issues are connected ??
  12. My unRAID server (Intel Xeon X3470 / SuperMicro X8SIL-F-O / 16GB 1333MHz DDR3 ECC / SuperMicro AOC-SASLP-MV8) running 6b15 Pro have crashed twice now. First, while I was transferring files over the network. Second, while trying to rebuild the array from the crash. Both times, I've received the following error: Kernal panic - not syncing: Timeout synchronizing machine check over CPUs Shutting down cpus with NMI Kernel Offset: 0x0 from 0xffffffff81000000 (relocate range: 0xffffffff800000000-0xffffffff9fffffff) I've tested this server extensively Memtest (3 days+), drives were precleared 3 times, CPU was tested thoroughly for stability.
  13. I have a $20 gift card from Amazon.com which I plan to splurge on a new USB. I don't have the luxury of USB 3.0 so limited to USB 2.0 but certainly looking for something with decent read/write speeds. I've looked at these three and the 'Fit' looks interesting. Would appreciate some feedback and your recommendations.
