  1. I am using this SUPERMICRO AOC-SASLP-MV8 PCI-Express x4 Low Profile SAS RAID Controller with with 2 Mini SAS to 4 SATA Data Cable supplying sata to 8 drives. The other 6 drives are running off mobo sata ports.
  2. Yes you will lose the progress. But, at 20 days, there's something else going on (most likely you knocked loose a cable somewhere along the line). Diagnostics would tell the tale I do have 34TB would that make a difference
  3. I upgraded my parity and adding 5 more drives to my server. When I replaced the parity I did not see a copy file from the old parity for the new parity drive. So I went ahead and started the parity sync but it shows that it will take over 20 days to complete. My question is if I shut off the server to add the norco hot swap and to use for pre clear on new drives will I lose the parity progress?
  4. I do not know what to look for in preclear reports. I havent had to upgrade my server much but I am maxed out in storage and need to add some 8tb Seagate drives. I need my server back up asap since it is the media source for our home. I finished running 1 preclear on two 8 tb drives and I want to start building my new case now and get the server back up. I am copying the preclears and also wondering if running only 1 preclear is sufficient? = unRAID server Pre-Clear disk /dev/sde = cycle 1 of 1, partition start on sector 1 = Disk Pre-Clear-Read completed DONE = Step 1 of 10 - Copying zeros to first 2048k bytes DONE = Step 2 of 10 - Copying zeros to remainder of disk to clear it DONE = Step 3 of 10 - Disk is now cleared from MBR onward. 6. I am looking for some help with disk overheating warnings that I am receiving. I have a Cooler Master Centurion 590 with 2 Norco ss500 hot swaps cages. I am looking for fan suggestions. I went and purchased 5 120mm fans today and just looking for tips on which way to install them and also which way the fans on the Norcos should be installed. Should the Norcos be pulling air in from the front or should they be blowing air onto the drives? On my case I can install 2 fans on top, 2 on the the side and one in the rear. Just looking for help on which fans should be intake and which should be exhausting air. Thanks for your help, because I am more of a casual techie and learn as I go.
  7. I keep getting an Autentication required pop up and its asking for user name and pw for sabnzbd. I have never set it up with a user name and pw.
  8. Actually, until a test is run with the current router by-passed, it is unknown. The router is mentioned as a Netgear. The Netgear routers doing over 500Mbps WAN-to-LAN are mostly 802.11ac. For example the extremely popular Netgear WNDR3700 is rated 429Mbps, but the newer Netgear R7000 can pump 931Mbps. Ok the tech did bypass the router and wired his laptop up directly to the ont box where the fiber connects and was getting the same 430mbps. And my router is the Netgear WNDR3700 and the tech had his own router that they use in installs and both were getting about 430mbps
  9. I am not getting a full gigabit on speedtest. The tech that installed it tried the router they supply and it was getting the same as my router was 450mbps/250mpbs. He said they are upgrading their main servers in a few months to be able to supply a true 1gig, but I do not know if he was just bs'ing. He said most installs are not getting much more than the speeds that I am getting. I live in Cincinnati and the supplier is Cincinnati Bell, so not a huge nationwide supplier Was 450/250 on wireless or wired? Wired, wireless was only getting about 75-50 on mine and the techs laptop

  11. I had 1gig fiber installed today. I have a gig wireless netgear router but it is a few years old and only has N band. All my switches and hubs are gigabit also and everything runs over cat 5e. I have been pondering purchasing a new ac router. My main question is whether it will be of any benefit. I have wired connections to all rooms and the only thing we use wireless for is laptop, tablets and cell phones. Will upgrading to a new router help my wired connections or will I only see an improvement in wireless? Thank you
  12. Check your boot order in the BIOS settings It is booting to the USB first. I just get a blank screen with a flashing cursor
  13. I did replace a bad drive a year or so ago. I wrote the free Unraid version to a USB drive and I tested it on my everyday pc and it boots. But I have an extra pc that I want to pre clear with and it will not boot from the USB.
  14. I am trying to replace a failing drive. I bought a new 4tb and want to preclear it before adding it to the array. Sorry about the noob question but how do I preclear the new drive if I do not have room in my box?
  15. No everything is wired with gigabit switches and routers
  16. Sorry for all the questions but I am not very good at all this learning as I have been going. But here is a screen shot of my plex server playing several things on my home network. One Roku is not transcoding but 2 others are.
  17. Will my other plug ins work if I go to 64 bit? I only use sabnzb, sickbeard and plex
  18. Temp directory is /mnt/cache/appdata/plex/temp
  19. Thanks for all the input and tips. I will try to do more troubleshooting this weekend.
  20. Upload is 10mbps but I was getting buffering on wired LAN on Roku 3 Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  21. Only use plex, sabnzb and sickbeard on server
  22. Yes I am running plex on cache drive and using the new encoder
  23. OK my unraid server has an Intel® Core i7-4770K CPU @ 3.50GHz with 16GB RAM. I upgraded to this thinking it would be powerful enough to simultaneously transcode multiple Plex streams at a time. I have a few friends that watch Plex off my server and the streams need to be transcoded. In our home on the LAN we have two Roku 3's and a htpc. We were having constant buffering issues and I went into the Unmenu top processes and it shows python and plex new trancoders as the top processes. I know that Sabnzb was running and so were 2 plex transcodes at the same time. I still think that my cpu should be able to handle that. I was figuring that the i7 was going to be able to do more than 4 trancodes at a time. Looking for any suggestions and tips to correct this. THanks
