I am in process of shrinking the form factor of my server so I will not have as many drive bays available. I will be replacing 4x 4TB disks with 2x 8TB disks. One other point regarding BF2 and BF2SF...they can use the same appdata folder since they use the same source files and the BF2SF settings and maps are stored in their own folder separate from BF2.

UPDATE: Apparently BF2142 requires a hacked profile to get around the initial login screen (if you don't already have an EA Games account). The other option would be to use something like Gameranger (which I have no interest in). FYI... As discussed over PM, Battlefield 2 Special Forces uses the same source files as BF2. You just launch using 'start.sh +modPath mods/xpack'. Battlefield 1942 and Battlefield 2142 server source files are also freely available. John

Thanks. I'll PM you with what I have done so far. The real trick (whihc I probably would have never figured out) is to use 'expect' and 'spawn' to run the shell script as it asks to accept the EULA for both BF2 and PunkBuster. Both BF2 server source files and BF2HUB installer are direct links (2nd is not required unless you want to host a ranked or unranked server on BF2HUB). BF2CC would be nice also (for admin) but requires mono and modmanger installed (both direct DLs also) and I just haven't messed with it yet. John

Is Battlefield 2 an option? The source files for a dedicated linux server are readily availble (I am running a server in a Docker container right now) but I wasn't sure of the legality. The place where I downloaded the source from has these disclaimers: If this all looks good, I can certainly help with getting this stood up but I wold love @ich777 to officially own it. John

I only got rcbot2 to play nicely on tf2 just the once although the bots didn't move. Ever since, it generates a segfault when I try to join my local server. Disabling rcbot2 and I am able to join without issue. John

First off...thank you for these awesome game servers. I have my 8 and 9 year old boys playing HL2DM and TF2. The interaction is hilarious. As described earlier in this post, I also added RCBOT2 to both games and have it running as expected. What are the proper values to assign for file, folder, user and group that aligns with what the 'New Permissions' script does in unRAID? For chown, do you use 99/100 or nobody:users? What values for chmod?

Only for pure simplicity. I like all-in-one solutions. I'll probably just setup a WIN VM with comskip and have it watch a folder for now.

+1 Squid...are you using Kodi (addon) to scrape? I currently use Emby but wouldn't be opposed to moving this function back to Kodi. Is there one on particular you like? John

How am i suppose to use your work when I don't know how to make a docker? John did a great job using "your work" so I and others can install it. You should be happy that we are using it. He has a paypal donate button on his page that nobody will know about if they don't have to actually go to the page to download it. I can see both sides of this argument to some degree, but to be fair, John EXPLICITLY directs people to go to the authors web page as a requirement to set up the software. It's not like the zap2 guy is losing page views, on the contrary, he's getting much more exposure, much of which simply would not happen without a docker container being available. Your code has not been touched...only integrated into a Docker container. If you insist that I cease redistribution for non-commercial use, I will do so. However, I ask that you provide the license for the perl script itself. If one does not exist, I have a simple solution going forward. Your choice.
