  1. As for the Media Manager, I highly recommend using one. It takes more time but you have more control over the fanart/plot/etc. and in my completely unscientific research it seems that XBMC recognizes my videos much better. As for your TV shows not scraping, how do you have them organized? XBMC seems really picky but after some trial and error I got my stuff organized so it doesn't have a problem. A few of the keys I found were: Making sure the TV show folder matched what theTVDB.com has exactly. If theTVDB has a year after the title, use the year, if not, don't worry about it. Sometimes I've done that and XBMC still won't find them, in that case, create a tvshow.nfo (named exactly that, not the "name of the TV show".nfo ) and all that goes in that file is the hyperlink to the TV show at theTVDB. This info can be found here at the XBMC wiki. Took me forever to figure that out. As for individual show files, make sure it start with the title of the show (can't believe some releases don't have this) and the Season/Episode are in the correct format. I've never had a problem with the format SxxExx. One other small one that may help. If you've got "parts" instead of seasons/episodes, such as The.Pacific.Part.1.mkv i've never gotten them to work that way, if renamed to The.Pacific.S01.E01.mkv, they work like a charm. Hope this helps. edit: fixed hyperlink edit 2: formatting since I'm horrible about paragraphs
  2. Josh, Not to get off topic but can you tell me why you use Media Companion for your TV Shows? I use EMM and haven't had any trouble, just wondering if I'm missing something. Also, on OpenELEC, I've looked around quite a bit and the only thing holding me back from switching from XBMC Live is the difficulty in dual-booting OpenELEC. The only way I've found involves basically triple-booting. I've got a current dual-boot XBMC Live/Windows 7 that I'd love to overwrite the XBMC with OpenELEC but don't think it's possible. That said, If anyone knows how I'd welcome the opportunity to look like an idiot.
  3. I'm having the same problem, ordered two of these to use in my Biostar TH55 HD and with them installed I can't get the darn thing to even post. I've tried both PCIe slots and both cards, no dice. Has the most up-to-date firmware. Tried them both in a Win7 machine with a Gigabyte GA-MA785GM-US2H and they work perfectly. Anyone have any insight by chance? Any Bios settings need changed? I've tried the setting PEG Force Gen 1 with no success. Any help appreciated and if this needs moved to the Hardware forums, let me know. Thanks,
  4. Just seeing if anyone has an extra 3 drive cage for an Antec 900 they'd be able to part with. I'm assuming of course that it could be used in the top 3 5 1/4 slots. Anyone has one, let me know. Thanks.
  5. Well, after trying every combination I could think of I've got it working, turns out for whatever reason when the server was behind a switch (both a Trendnet TEG-S80g and a DGS-2208) that I couldn't get a connection, if connected straight to my router (Linksys WRT350N) it worked fine. Still no idea what the problem was and if you have any insight, let me know but I'm just happy it's working and wasn't too much of a pain in the B. Thanks for your help sacretagent.
  6. I've had unRAID 4.7 working great for the last few weeks. After installing a new PSU I can no longer get a network connection. Have tried multiple cables, some known working with other machines, tried using a static IP and DHCP and no luck. Here's my hardware and syslog attached. Antec 900 Biostar TH55 HD Intel Core i3-550 Clarkdale Kingston ValueRAM 2GB 240-PIN DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 Corsair Builder Series CX430 6 hard drives - WD/Seagate mix syslog.txt
  7. Doubt if this will help but this sort of thing kept happening to me, finally after quite a while troubleshooting I looked in the case and the CPU fan power cable was keeping the CPU fan from spinning. CPU was getting too hot and shutting down to save itself. Boy did I feel dumb after that but it's worth checking out all your hardware.
  8. If you haven't seen this link, you may want to check it out. I haven't done it yet but once I've upgraded to a Norco case I'm planning on giving it a shot. I'm sure though, that some re-inforcement will be necessary.
  9. Now the real question...what's inside? I'm assuming since you've made it, it's pretty sweet.
  10. Ended up ordering enough to get started last night. Ended up with the following: Biostar TH55 HD Intel i3 550 Kingston ValueRAM 2GB DDR3 1333 With the parts I've got already this should get me up and running (hopefully) and I'll add the add-on card and upgrade the PSU in the next couple of weeks. Thanks for everyone's help. If anyone has any advice/questions, let me know. I'll probably keep this updated with my experience if anyone is interested.
  11. Well, in that case, I have to have it! ;)
  12. Checked the Biostar link, still look a little bit different, the TH55b says it's got a 5-phase power design and the TH55 says it has a 7-phase. I'm assuming they're pretty darn close though and that the TH55 would work. Think I might try and jump on it.
  13. Unless I'm wrong, that's a slightly different board. Do you think it's safe to assume this one will work too?
  14. I've been doing some more looking around Newegg and found the following that looks very interesting: Biostar TH55 HD in a combo with the Intel i3 550 for $171.99 with a $5 rebate. Anyone have any experience with this board. Looks like it would handle most everything I want and has x16 and x4 PCI-e slots so conceivably I could run two add-on cards. That and with the money saved I could put that toward a PSU.
  15. Thanks for the heads up. I've never dealt with Provantage at all. Have you had good luck with them?
  16. Thanks for the reply prostuff1, if upgrading the CPU, would the AMD Athlon II X2 255 Regor be sufficient? Also, when I'm home I'll check out the other power supplies I've got, maybe one of them will work, otherwise will probably just go with the Corsair CMPSU-650TX. Any other changes needed/advised?
  17. I've been lurking around for a while just absorbing the vast amount of info on this board. And first things first, I just want to say thank you and Wow! to all the knowledgable and extremely helpful people on this board. I can actually say it's been a pleasure just reading the well thought out and sincere advice you guys have to offer. Anyway, I have decided on unRAID for my storage solution going forward (ex-WHS user). My uses will be for media/document storage, streaming to a few XBMC clients around the house, SABNZB+, Sickbeard, CouchPotato and general storage. Will be starting out with appox. 8 drives but want the ability to expand up to the 21-22 drive limit. Here's the hardware I'm thinking of, please let me know if I've made any mistakes or if there are better alternatives out there. Also, since $ is almost always a factor, for what I'm wanting to run, would I benefit enough going with an i3 system for the price increase? fyi - all prices include shipping Option 1 - AMD Sempron System Jetway JHZ03-GT-LF - 82.98 AMD Sempron 140 Sargas - 37.99 Kingston ValueRAM 2GB DDR3 1333 - 22.99 Antec Neo Power 550? - Already Own Antec 900 - Already Own Supermico AOC-SASLP-MV8 - 115.98 2 X 3Ware CBL-SFF8087OCF-05MF - 53.36 Total - $313.30 Option 2 - Intel i3 System Asus P7H55-M LX - 84.99 Intel Core i3-550 Clarkdale - 129.99 Kingston ValueRAM 2GB DDR3 1333 - 22.99 Antec Neo Power 550? - Already Own Antec 900 - Already Own Supermico AOC-SASLP-MV8 - 115.98 2 X 3Ware CBL-SFF8087OCF-05M - 53.36 Total - $407.31 Flash Drive - Will be using a Sandisk Cruzer 4GB. Have to admit, since my last name is Cruzen I just can't use any flash drive other than a Cruzer Hard Drives - Will be a mixture of 2TB WD EARS and EADS, 1.5TB WD and Seagates and a few smaller drives. As for the power supply, I'm pretty positive that's the model I have. Will it suffice for a 7-8 drive system? I know I'll need to change it to a single 12v rail power supply later on, just wondering if I'll be okay for the time being? I've also got an Antec TruePower Quattro TPQ-1000 I can use if needed. I just figured that would be overkill. Also, as for the case, whenever I outgrow the Antec 900 I'm planning to go ahead and get a Norco (4220 or 4224 or whatever new comes out) instead of buying multiple backplanes. This make sense? Thanks for any help/advice you can offer. I'm very much looking forward to joining the unRAID family!
  18. I was also checking out that board since it's got a PCI-e x16 and PCI-e x4. I might be wrong but as long as you use a compatible (i3) processor it sort of does have on-board video right? Also, my question, with the two > PCI-e x4 slots, shouldn't this be able to handle 2 of the SUPERMICRO AOC-SASLP-MV8's? Please correct me if I'm wrong. Looking to put together my first unRAID build and want to be future-proofed without breaking the bank and thought this mobo looked good.
