  1. I’ve run into this as well. I prefer not to use the one built in especially if you have https turned on. It’s a quirk, and low on the priority to fix I think.
  2. You can also add the IP address to the host file in windows. Google the location on your system where it lives. Typically c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\host if I’m recalling correctly and get it to resolve hostname that way. You will have to be admin to do it however. Only real caveat.
  3. As far as I know nothing says cache needs to be btrfs. I think you can format it as xfs as well, just lose the pooling feature.
  4. Big thing with Ryzen is doing the zen states options recommended by following steps in fix common problems recommendations
  5. Could also be the ownership in Linux got messed up as well. Might be worth checking from a terminal session. instructions to fix:
  6. Upgraded without issues that I saw in rc2. Everything is working swimmingly.
  7. Do you have the file integrity plugin running? Noticed that caused a large amount of cpu utilization.
  8. Figured it out 900K entries that needed to be deleted from Recycle bin manually due to a rouge creation of Squid maleware bait files must’ve crashed it. Once I cleared them the plugin started working again. Must’ve been too much scrub for the plugin.
  9. Yay I’m not losing my mind. Mine is doing the same thing on 6.5.2
  10. Gotta go to tools and update OS. It changed in the late 6.4 branches
  11. Well I can confirm it works with 2700, I just upgraded using a X370 board that I updated. Big thing is RAM price in this build. How much do you want... Few VMs for testing and plex, figure 16GB minimum if testing with Windows. I run with 32 and prices now are a bit nuts so get just what you need for now. Make sure you get X470 or have access to a Ryzen 1000 series chip to update a X370. B350 is overclockable but I worry about expansion options. I also use a 9211i flashed to IT mode in my pci-e 2.0 x16 slot running in X4 speed. Also remember you need a graphics card as the Ryzen non-G don’t have onboard video. Good luck!
  12. Flip the gpu assignments. Also you understand your unraid needs some resources too correct? With that being the case with this processor go with a single VM with hardware passthrough this using the second GPU slot for the passthrough as Ryzen doesn’t have integrated graphics on the 1400. If you decide to do 2 gaming PCs on this it can be tricky. I wouldn’t assign both fully, maybe 2 cpus on one and a different 2 or 4 on the gaming one. RAM don’t assign all 8GB as the VM uses over the allocation by 10% on average. I’d go with 6GB assignee max per VM with these specs. Also you understand unraid is a Slackware fork and probably won’t game. The OS lives on a USB drive meaning performance isn’t for using like a normal PC. If that is your thought reconsider. But 2 VMs is doable but the processor won’t likely be enough for much more than 1 VM with decent specs. 1600 is dropping in price for the extra 30-40 bucks it gives 2 more cores with 4 threads. Also don’t go lower than a B350 motherboard. You give up too much. Watch gridrunners videos, walkthroughs are good. Youtube look for Spaceinvader One, that’s his channel.
  13. Basic setup is good now in regards to memory overclocks, I run mine clocked to 3000 so in a server it’s debatable. I run 2 vms on my rig one with a 1080 and one with a 1060. Trick is the gpu passthrough. If using AMD 470 put it in slot 1 as passthrough for AMD works well in slot 1 without a bios passthrough hack. VMs OS either run as unassigned with passthrough (which I do) and games sit on a share that I either symlink or just map the share. I’m running MSI x370 sli plus. I will recommend using a usb 3 pci-e card with 2 usb controllers on-board for plug and play passthrough. I also overclocks my 1600x to 4.1. But if you haven’t bought the chip yet wait a few weeks the Ryzen+ are coming.
  14. Ryzen requires a gpu in first slot outside what you want to passthrough. Ryzen 2 APU is about to be released which “could” remedy that bios workaround. Board I use with my Ryzen 5 1600X is a MSI X370 SLI plus. Works well and haven’t had the c-state error since 6.4rc7.
  15. https://youtu.be/JbhKUjPRk5Q I just posted this in the security forum it may apply to NAS after all if this is verified.
  16. This is interesting... Hope it doesn’t end up being a standard case. SSD performance hit?
  17. Shhh no one was supposed to notice... motleyfool reported the sale as end of Nov to the minimum levels as a CEO.
  18. We are about to find out at work. I’d say whatever is done for the “meltdown” patching make sure the patch doesn’t include the AMD chips. Sounds like rumblings are that the current patch in the wild blankets all x86 CPUs. As I’m a Ryzen VM gamer with full gpu passthrough, if there’s a beta patch we can test I’d be happy to help. Haven’t heard word on KVM issues however ESX and Xen specifically have been called out by documentation I’ve read.
  19. A pci-e 1x to 16x riser would work but the performance gaming would likely stink. Even a board with 4 pci-e x4 slots when fully populated would work better, I know the pci-e lanes for a 7700 are 16 total. Also how many vm cores are you planning per host? The 7700 is only a quad core 8 thread, with keeping in mind 1 or 2 cores (core 0 and possibly 1) being kept isolated for unraid OS. Think you may need to refigure the config a bit if you want decent performance.
  20. Couple things, make sure to leave the first core or 2 for the unraid os. Gridrunner has a nice video on virtualization with both intel and AMD including video card bios passthrough. Either way, what’s the purpose of the 64GB of RAM? VM won’t likely need more than 8-12GB each. Also VM benefit of more than 4 vcpus per VM is less unless you are transcoding or something with the vm.
  21. Sane, I wonder if some docker logos below RAID would help facilitate that feel with maybe a + at the end to indicate more? Just spitballing.
  22. Agreed RAID could use a tweak but like the chain sort of look
  23. Didn’t need either. I have a evga 80 bronze 850W power supply that is a 2017 model. Nothing special needed in my rig.
