  1. You can achieve this already if you are willing to do a little bit of work. I have it on one of my development machines. I have two unraid virtual machines - each using vt-d to access sata controllers directly. I have one further VM that mounts the shares from the two unRAID vm's, combines them using a union filesystem (AUFS I think) and then shares that back via samba.
  2. Indeed it is: http://unraid.zeron.ca/plugins/smartctl/smartctl-1.1.0_unRaid5.0beta11plus-noarch-1Zeron.plg
  3. 4. It's just a folder. It will use it because the script in the plugin looks for it - it will be created if it is not there.
  5. New packages have been placed on the first post. Beta6a and Beta12a have been updated to open-vm-tools version: 2011.12.20.562307. Beta 13 and 14 were not due to a compile problem with 2011.12.20.562307 and Kernel 3.1 For Beta6a, 12a, 13 and 14 the package should no be able to detect and activate a VMXNET3 interface automatically so you will not need to add any lines to you go script. The missing /boot/config/plugins/open-vm-tools folder when installing from a .tgz file should now be created automatically.
  6. Package for Beta-14 available using open-vm-tools 2011.11.20.535097
  7. I have added the VMXNET3 driver to the packages from beta-12a and beta-13.
  8. Works fine, but the IDE drives are slower then SATA ones.
  9. New version for Beta 13: Update to: Open-vm-tools ver: 2011.10.26.514583 - hgfs is fixed in this release.
  10. You would have to use the RDM method, but if I recall correctly you will not get drive temps and spin-down. If you want to use virtual machines with unRAID on a N36L you might be better off looking at getting VitualBox running under unRAID.
  11. Reboot the windows PC you are trying to access it from and it will return.
  12. the plugin failed to load for me it poped an error in the syslog "Oct 29 22:04:28 Goliath logger: Warning: simplexml_load_file(): I/O warning : failed to load external entity "/boot/config/plugins/*.plg" in /usr/local/sbin/installplg on line 13 (Minor Issues)" the .tgz is here: http://unraid.zeron.ca/plugins/open-vm-tools/open_vm_tools-2011.09.23.491607_unRaid5.0beta13-i686-5Zeron.tgz the .plg file is 4 lines and works fine here. You either have a corrupted file or open-vm-tools is not the cause of your error. do you have an old school install also?
  13. A version has been posted for 5.0beat-13. WARNING: Due to a code bug in open-vm-tools that causes a null pointer deference when used under kernel 3.1 this version does NOT include hgfs support. VMWare does a code dump to their GIT repository once a month near the end of every month so we can hope that this issue will be resolved in a few days time.
  14. To use SMB2 you need to have: max protocol = SMB2 in smb.conf. It does not look like unRAID does this.
  15. Beta-13 is out!! http://lime-technology.com/download/doc_details/29-unraid-server-version-50-beta13-aio
  16. ...a P11 Firmware&BIOS package is available from LSI since 8 weeks now, here: http://www.lsi.com/downloads/Public/Host%20Bus%20Adapters/Host%20Bus%20Adapters%20Common%20Files/SAS_SATA_6G_P11/9211_8i_Package_P11_IR_IT_Firmware_BIOS_for_MSDOS_Windows.zip Any experience or insights from the experts around? I updated my IBM M1015 to P11 and have been running a preclear on a WD20EARX under Beta-6a. On the previous firmware I would get the following errors: sd 0:0:8:0: attempting task abort! scmd(ffff8802ede2fc80) sd 0:0:8:0: [sdg] CDB: cdb[0]=0x2a: 2a 00 2c 05 cf 90 00 00 30 00 scsi target0:0:8: handle(0x000f), sas_address(0x4433221103000000), phy(3) scsi target0:0:8: enclosure_logical_id(0x500605b001d0ab00), slot(3) 12 hours in and have not seen one yet. Beta-12a segfaulted on boot with P11, but I never did try beta-12a with the previous firmware version. I put together this file for upgrading for a DOS boot: http://unraid.zeron.ca/other/upgrade-M1015-P11.zip
  17. Version 2011.09.23.491607 for both 4.7 and 5.0beta12a have been posted. I have added /etc/slackware-version file to the 4.7 package to prevent the "Failed to get OS info." message that was logged every 30 seconds. unRaid 5 ships with /etc/slackware-version which is why the error message was not happening there. The IP address on the server that hosts the files has changed, it may take a little while before some of you can access them.
  18. I can confirm that those errors only appear in unRAID 4.7. I hope to have an updated package ready later today or early tomorrow that connects the issue.
  19. I do not get that error on my unraid VM's. I have check on the ones running under eSXI 4.1 and 5.0
  20. Min Free Space is entered in Kb. Wit ha setting of 10, unraid will continue to write to the drive until it has only 10Kb free. Now, if you are trying to write a file larger than 10Kb, unraid will put it on the full drive (so long it has more than 10Kb free), but it will run out of space. You should set the Min Free Space to be larger than the average file size you are trying to write to the share.
  21. It is in the motherboard manual. You can get is from http://www.supermicro.com/support/manuals/index.cfm There is a ReiserFS driver that will allow you to read the disk in windows. There are ways to get it back...
  22. I believe that limit was upgraded to 32Gig in the release version due to consumer backlash. It was upped to 32G before release
  23. The IP for the esxi host cannot be the same as the IP for IPMI
