RX 6600 passthrough help please!
Code 43 typically needs the kvm hidden state if I recall Sent from my SM-G996U using Tapatalk

I don't see a vbios, do you just have one card? Sent from my SM-G996U using Tapatalk

Performance problem with a gaming VM
As soon as my new SAS card comes this weekend I will be doing some benchmarks and I'll try to capture some data. Also going to try some XML mods and see if I can get closer to maybe 85 or 90 percent of performance. Sent from my SM-G996U using Tapatalk

Performance problem with a gaming VM
Sounds like CPU bottleneck which also corresponds to what I saw. I use around 10 percent in Diablo 2 and 40 percent on halo infinite in bare metal. 18 cores in VM I was seeing 40 percent and 80 percent respectively. Which would explain bottlenecking the GPU and lower GPU usage. The question is now gentleman is why? Sent from my SM-G996U using Tapatalk

So about 64% performance. This seems like roughly what I've been seeing on my system judging by the frame rates I've been getting. Did you watch your CPU usage during the benchmarks? Sent from my SM-G996U using Tapatalk

Linux by far you could do like a virtual pfsense also and use wiregusrd Sent from my SM-G996U using Tapatalk

Performance problem with a gaming VM
@hot22shot I really appreciate the insight. When my SAS card shows up I'll boot back into unRAID and see if I can find this bottleneck. I was thinking about it I had enabled MSI interrupts for my 1070ti but since swapping to the 6700xt I had not. My 3070ti comes Friday and so I'll see if I can get closer to bare metal performance and keep chasing the 85 to 90 percent. Sent from my SM-G996U using Tapatalk

Performance problem with a gaming VM
I was hitting around 4.5ghz on passed through cores (my unRAID is set to performance scheduling) but I also just assigned the top 18 cores so maybe I need to pick my cores better on my 5900x. Something has to be causing the three of us in this thread to be bottlenecking our graphics cards. They are Intel and Im ryzen so it doesn't appear to be the classic Intel vs Ryzen issues. My c states are also disabled in the bios. Sent from my SM-G996U using Tapatalk

Performance problem with a gaming VM
I have seen an emulation core parameters on some advanced XML and people tend to point them to the core 0 pair. Was not sure if that helped at all. I am hoping when my new 3070ti comes Friday and SAS card this weekend I can re explore CPU pinning and see if I can get the performance to go from 50% to 80%. My CPU usage is way higher and GPU usage way lower on my VM. Which I assume is why my frame rates are suffering. Sent from my SM-G996U using Tapatalk

@hot22shot what about emulation cores and iothreads have you found those to be important. I've been seeing those more and more Sent from my SM-G996U using Tapatalk

Look in VM template you'll see virtiofs towards top turn it off. I was reading in the virtiofs thread that's pinned in this forum people were seeing freezing and performance loss. Sent from my SM-G996U using Tapatalk

Sooo have any of us tried disabling virtiofs which is new default in unRAID template? Sent from my SM-G996U using Tapatalk

70 percent I get average of 40 percent GPU usage in my VM I also can get 100 percent in a benchmark or stress test. Sent from my SM-G996U using Tapatalk

Performance problem with a gaming VM
Yep all of us gamers seem to be losing frames bad lately. I am on Ryzen and AMD and still same issues. I did notice this morning in halo infinite bare metal I am average of about 20 percent CPU but in the VM I was 70 to 80 percent on same settings. I am using CPU passthrough but it seems like it's bottlenecking Sent from my SM-G996U using Tapatalk

Low FPS in VM
One thing I noticed is bare metal I use around 20 to 30 percent cpu. When in the VM I use 70 to 80 percent cpu. I know Ryzen have issues is there something causing a bottleneck? Also strange to me that AMD overlay doesn't work in the vm.

It's the audio portion of the Nvidia graphics card you are supposed to combine with the video portion into a multifunction device. unRAID by default splits it into two pci devices which is physically impossible. I am unsure if it actually fixes performance doing XML edits but it's one thing I haven't tried in my quest to fix the low graphics usage. The one thing I find as a clue is amd overlay won't work on VM but does in bare metal. This leads me to think something in the driver is bottlenecking. I was going to swap my 1070ti back in and test it bare metal vs VM but then my SAS card died last night. Sent from my SM-G996U using Tapatalk

Does the card have HDMI so audio and video pci devices in iommu? I don't see multifunction but notice you have an m6000 which may not split? Sent from my SM-G996U using Tapatalk

Interesting. I have been running hyper v on. I guess maybe someone else will come chime in. They will probably want your xml posted in a code block on this post. I realize we can't have 0 losses but what you and I are seeing seems wrong for this much frame limiting. Sent from my SM-G996U using Tapatalk

You did the pass through as multifunction device? The only other thing I was reading about is special hyperV options. I also isolated my CPU cores and pinned them to the VM so only the VM can use them. Sent from my SM-G996U using Tapatalk

Spaceinvader. I am passing a vbios I dumped from the card and an nvme stubbed through. The only thing I was going to revisit was doing the xml as a multifunction device for the graphics card. Have you watched the spaceinvader video for that edit? I was going to try that and the msifix Sent from my SM-G996U using Tapatalk
